i do think there's is genuinely an issue with how gay people my age engage with queer history where they act like before the internet the lgbt community was a perfect unit that all shared the same opinions on assimilation and slur reclamation and asexuals and polyamory and bi lesbians and kink at pride and NEVER argued over pointless discourse and it's like well no, you're only engaging with the history that you personally agree with, you're only reading the letters and memoirs made by COOL gay people, i promise if you were alive in the 80's and active in the queer community you would of fucking hated alot of other gay people i'm serious.

people act like there weren't like. transphobic gay people before the 2010's or that lesbians and bisexuals weren't constantly at each other's throats, or the boring white gay guy who just wanted marriage equlaity and not much else was invented by modern family, so like i'm not sure but there were always gay people with different beliefs than you unfortunately.

it's like. whenever i see someone post a picture of gay men holding a "we love d*kes" protest sign or lesbians in leather jackets with their titties out and go "i wish when gay people did this instead of arguing over steven universe" like gay people infact do still do that, if you go outside. it's just the gay version of those conservatives that go "i miss the real america before dei" and it's a picture of two white teenagers drinking a milkshake, like you can just go drink a milkshake it's fine.
