THE POWER OF ROCK COMPELS YOU!!!
Proof that I'm still working on King of the Unknown! I'm going to wrap up the original story that was running on the website (at ww.kingoftheunknown.com, which will be revamped by the end of the summer as well) before serializing the graphic novel on there as well, I just wanted to make sure I finished up this story first. Anyway, here's a sneak peak at that. Enjoy!
I think it’s all right to show this now. Here’s my next beer label for Mully’s Brewery: Galaxy King! It’s tough to top that last one, but this one has a giant robot and kaiju, so that is pretty rad.
Apparently, it's "Mermay" so this is the closest thing to that you'll get out of me. This is a character design for the Black Lagooner that will appear in one of my later King of the Unknown comics. Didn't plan on showing his design this early, but the timing was appropriate.
Here’s a new D&D themed label I did for Mully’s Brewery out of Maryland! You might have to zoom in a bit to see all of the details!
C2E2 2018 ROUND-UP!
It’s been a few days now since C2E2, and I’ve had some time to rest and gather my thoughts, so let’s get into it.
First off, this year’s show was huge! It’s been growing steadily every year, but this year’s show blew the doors off the place! I don’t know how Mike Negin and crew do it, but kudos and thank you to you guys and gals who continually make this one of the best comic conventions around!
Second, after this past weekend, I realized more than ever just how much I’ve been neglecting my King of the Unknown website. I always thought I was the only one who cared about that comic, and most people could take it or leave it, but there was this one guy who came up to my table that convinced me otherwise (and left me feeling a little more than ashamed for not getting the lead out and updating the site). Apparently he had been going to the convention these past few years and hitting up my table trying to get his hands on anything new King of the Unknown related that he could. I found this out when I told him to help himself to the free KotU postcards and he said he already had all of them except for this year’s new one, and asked me if I had anything new and when I would be updating the website again. Ugh. Man, did I feel horrible (and still do) that I had nothing new of substance to offer him, and any other fans of the comic for that matter. So after this past weekend, I’m going to make it a priority to get the website revamp up and running within the next few months, and start putting out new content as well (besides the graphic novel that’s in the works).
Final point of the post: would anyone be interested in an online store to buy King of the Unknown merchandise and/or original artwork? This was a question that came up more than a few times during the convention, and while I’ve thought about adding a store to the website, I never thought the demand for it was quite there. So if you guys are interested in something like that, then be sure to sound off and let me know!
Well, that about wraps it up for the C2E2 2018 wrap up. I want to thank everyone who stopped by my table and bought something or just stopped by to chat (except for that drunken dude-bro on Saturday, but that’s a story for another day)! I am very much humbled that anyone would read this comic (or still read it with its lengthy delay), and I can’t wait to get things rolling again so you have some new content to check out, and to see what you think about it!
Also, here’s some commissions and art I worked on at the show!

Hey! I'll be at C2E2 this weekend at Artist Alley table J12, so if you'll be there stop by and say "hi"! Hope to see you there!!!
Here's my next beer label for Mully's Brewery. It's called "Ark & Dove", and it's named after the two ships that brought the explorers from England to establish Maryland back in the mid 1600's. The guy featured on it is Baron Leonard Calvert, the first proprietary governor of Maryland. The beer will be released on March 25th during the festivities of "Maryland Day".
The final product for the label art I did for Mully's Brewery turned out great!
Here's an unused pose for the dwarf in that brewery label I posted a while back. Ultimately I went with a different layout on the label, but maybe I'll get to use it on another label later on down the road .
It's a new year so I have some new clients! I'll be doing label art for Mully's Brewery out of Maryland, and did this D&D themed "Roll for Initiative" label for my first design. This was a fun first label to work on!
Quick Magneto head sketch to warm up. One of the best villains in comics!
Looking through files on my computer the other day and found this blast from the past from a few years ago that I never posted online. Figured it was at least timely with the Fox/Disney merger junk. Hopefully that means we'll finally get a proper swashbuckling Nightcrawler in the X-Men films!
Been in a bit of an art funk lately, so I decided to do some sketching unrelated to what I've been working on. I liked the way these guys turned out so I cleaned up the linework and colored it. I feel like I've been drawing these guys since I was kid, so even if I'm drawing like crap I can still draw a pretty decent Superman and Batman.
Been in a bit of a drawing funk lately, so I've been flipping through some old sketchbooks to (hopefully) try and gain some insight on where my work is going. I found these sketches for a monster team book (think X-Men meets the Universal Monsters with Frankenstein's monster in the Professor X role and Dracula as Magneto) in one of the sketchbooks and decided to throw some colors on them. I actually quickly sketched up the "wolfed-out" Wolfman upon seeing these again since I didn't draw him prior, and I like how that turned out. He's got kind of an "Altered Beast" wolfman vibe to him.
Here it is! The cover for the first King of the Unknown graphic novel due out next year from Stache Publishing! King of the Unknown: The Power of Rock Compels You! is the rock powered, horror comic you've been waiting for! Stay tuned for more updates and sneak peaks as the book gets closer to release!
I'll be at RETCon Chicago this weekend, so stop on by and maybe you can get me to spill a few secrets on the upcoming KotU graphic novel!
