people who don't like jazz just don't understand the history, culture and beauty behind it.

they always have this idea of jazz that doesn't accurately represent or reflect the art. they think of elevator music; they think of slow, boring ‘old people’ music.

but it's so much more than the misconception.

it's something you have to experience live at least once in your life to truly appreciate, and to grasp the concept of it: the excitement, the energy, the love behind the music.

you can't hate jazz, if you know jazz.

it was born in the heart of african-american communities as a response to persecution, system racism and oppression. it's built on freedom, revolution, resistance, self expression, heritage, family, community; it's one of the purest forms of music EVER.

you can say jazz isn’t your style or taste, but you cannot hate jazz.
