Gang gang I had a thought
I’m thinking about a Phighters scenario with an oblivious!Y/N personality-wise, just to match the whole “reader with a tasty scent” thing.
Like imagine them being completely clueless about how the Inphernals react to their scent. Don’t get me wrong, Y/N definitely notices how dazed and out of it the Inphernals get, they just don’t realize the negative effect.
Sometimes they’ll purposely make a tiny cut on their palm and straight-up shove their hand near an Inphernal’s face whenever they catch them staring too hard at a bruise or injury. Not even to provoke them either — more in a “oh, you said my blood smells nice? Here ya go :D” kinda way.
I also love the idea of Y/N helping out at Slingshot’s café from time to time, except they keep accidentally making things worse.
They’ll just be in the kitchen doing weird shit, casually dropping a tiny bit of their blood into the food because Sword once mentioned the food tasted better after Y/N accidentally cut themself while cooking. So now Y/N takes it as a compliment and starts adding their blood on purpose, thinking it’ll attract more customers to the café…
…and it DOES.... Just not in a good way
Another funny thought: imagine Banhammer actually managing to throw Y/N in jail for a bit. Not permanently of course — mostly so they stop causing chaos and so lawyers (or whatever they call Inphernals who handle criminal case) can study their case. Definitely NOT because banny wanted that scent all to himself. Definitely not.But then all the criminals in the jail start going absolutely insane over Y/N’s scent to the point they become too difficult for the warden to handle. And then Broker somehow suddenly appears in the exact same jail right after hearing Y/N got locked up
LAST THOUGHT BECAUSE I LOVE SUBSPACE SO MUCH MY GOD—
Imagine Y/N’s blood/flesh doesn’t just smell good, but actually has healing properties. Like it can heal injuries, repair damaged tissue, maybe even revive the dead with enough of it. So when Subspace captures Y/N — they’re a little bloodied up but still weirdly curious — they end up asking why he wears the mask. Then without hesitation, they touch one of the exposed injured spots on his face and BOOM. The rot just… stops completely. And when Y/N gets even more curious, they touch his chest again and BOOM part two
Suddenly Subspace’s damaged muscles start repairing themselves, tissue slowly growing back while breathing becomes easier again for the first time in forever.
Idk what I write I just need something to get off while I finish the drawing
Warning: Partial mention of drug-like addition in Subspace's section.
I do agree that the Reader would be partially aware of what they are doing, but, like you said, they don't know that they are actually causing damage because they are actively giving the Inphernals a taste for their blood/flesh while trying to be good-natured.
Like, they are just trying to be kind and helpful to their friends, but the road to hell is paved with good intentions. So they just wind up accidentally causing chaos or endangering themselves in the process of trying to assist in any way they can.
I imagine this Reader is pretty clumsy, klutzy, or just simply accident prone--which is why they tend to get injured a lot by their own hand or by not paying avert attention to any hazards/not thinking ahead to prevent any accidental injuries.
As a result, their delicious scent leaks out and Inphernals with weak wills start to go "mad" and lash out or chase the poor Reader around in response to their smell.
It's like they go feral in response to the scent of their flesh or blood.
That would probably be the main catalyst of how they wind up in jail with Ban Hammer, as they are causing Phights to break out in the street and making a fair bit of the population become like rabid animals.
Which, in turn, allows them to meet Broker for the first time and they probably confide in him because they feel like they're just causing trouble wherever they go.
So now The Church is aware of their presence and Ban Hammer is still trying to figure out what to do with the human as Broker absorbs all of their information because of the human oversharing with him. He probably reports back to Scythe and Father Overseer once he manages to slip away from Ban Hammer yet again. Causing intrigue from their hornless status, their lack of a gear, and how their flesh and blood becomes enough to drive Inphernals into a more primal/dazed state.
Likewise, the Korblox Corporation would probably have a vested interest in the local human that can drive nearby Inphernals "mad" with a simple few cuts, as they are similar to a chemical weapon that affects Inphernals primarily, and if what you mentioned about Subspace DOES come to pass--we would definitely be high on his list of capture.
Cause, while I don't think the blood itself would be able to heal Subspace outright, I do think it can be used as an ingredient for making a potent healing catalyst/salve that Subspace would be able to inject or cover his rot-based wounds in.
Think of it like Morphine.
Morphine is typically used to treat patients with severe pain in a multitude of ways. Orally, injection, and through a patch. However, morphine is EXTREMELY addictive and patients can have withdrawal symptoms--even if they have no history of abusing drugs.
That's kinda what I imagine Subspace slowly devolving into. He starts making this serum with your blood that gives him the potent antibodies to help heal or slowly undo the damage that the rot has caused him, and he starts getting addicted to the feeling of finally being able to live a more comfortable life.
He takes it more and more and he would practically bathe in the purified refinements of your blood's properties if it meant he could heal faster and feel the pain ease up even more. Plus, the scent of it is absolutely divine and he can both relax while he allows the antibodies to do their thing.
That's what makes him so dangerous.
He's not just liking your smell and the taste of your blood. He has refined it to a point that it has become extremely addictive. He NEEDS more and it's not just because he's feeling peckish. He craves the relief he can get from your antibodies and he can feel himself getting stronger and stronger in response to every single dose he takes.
In a way, Subspace understands why your race went extinct long ago, as ancient Inphernals probably understood these benefits and reaped them to a point of no return--resulting in your race dying out. But now? Subspace can only wish that there were more Hornless he could harvest more antibodies from.
Cause if he got enough of it, he could become cured, and that's what he wants most of all.
So, Subspace is still king of all the other threats in the Inpherno.
