Artist Statement

Our installation basically in short is a leap motion based art. What will happen is that we will having a basin filled with water that will enable the leap to track your hand when moved. We are going to place a screen in front of the basin for visualization purpose. When you move your hand then the visuals will change according to your movement. For us to allow participants to interact with our artwork, we are going to add sound to our installation whereby sound will be listened through headphones. The music to be played will be a compilation of cool music from gen x to z.

Artist Statement

Today. We are grouped into posse-like compounds based on the generation we belong to. To name a few, the baby boomers, generation X, generation Y and the millenniums, also known as generation Z. Each generation may have their own characteristics, developed through the changes of their own well-being that revolve around society, media, the world itself and what not. And hence why generations don’t seem to get along quite as well as we’d hope. Each generation is brought up differently based on how the world was then or is now. We could focus on certain aspects throughout the generations and believe that it is ever changing. Whether it is a repetition of a generation before is a whole other story.

I feel like we tend to put a label on things only because it would keep us organized and hence why we came up with this installation all to represent the cleansing of generations. Instead of specifying certain aspects to certain generations, the installation is to wash away all of the judgement and go with the flow of how things are. To speak in terms of beliefs, Buddhism is one of the many where they have a practice to wash is to cleanse and be rid of evil energy. After every prayer whether in temples or at your own home, it is encouraged to wash your face, hair and hands. With that said, the idea came from such a practice, turning this of a spiritual ceremony and in home to express it with a more modern twist.

We chose leap motion where it would track the hand movements within the waters and through that, the visuals displayed on screen will change with the hand movements. It is almost to mirror what we cannot see in the waters into something our eyes would be able to capture. The aesthetic of this installation is that the visitors are allowed to create their own. Not only that but it would be spontaneous. So its interesting to see how even with different or within the same generations, every individual’s mind would never work the same and that’s the beauty of it. The purpose of this installation is to show that we should not be defined by which generation we are from. Generation X are considered uptight while generation Y are considered to be too egoistic. All of these facts can be false because who is to say that it is true unless we claim that it is so. As said before, we like to put things into little boxes and label them only because it would be easier.

Artist Statement

In this project, we will do the leap motion interactivity instalment. Leap motion is new media technology that computer hardware sensor device that support and implement with hand and finger motions as input and analogous to a mouse but for surely that hand or finger not connect, contact and touching the devices. In other side, we also can say that it use similar with scan system technology.

This leap motion project we will implement by combination with the screen to display the artistic value of the leap motion interface design. We will use the basin of water below the leap motion tool to trap our audience interactivity using our installation. In this project, we will set up the screen near the water basin and leap motion interactivity device to display the artistic result. The screen will be placed up front with the visual and in the same time it will display the result according our audience hand movement.

Beside that, to create the mood we also add the music to back up this interactivity instalment. As we know, hearing is the best way to create or influence people mood or environment. In this situation, we will use this technique to create it more interesting and energetic. We will use the sound and music to make it more interesting. Although we use the music, we will create something interesting by combine the sound with the variety mood. For example, in that music looping track, we will set it the happiness sound, calmness sound, scary sound, robotic sound and many more. It will make another interactivity by using the influence and provocation sound. In addition, the sound will hear only by the participant or audience who play with this leap motion device using the headphone that we will provide.

First of all, when a person put on the headphone he will hear a calming sound and its very peaceful no harming or hurting. While the person will have to put his hand inside the box also in the water and playing movement of their hand in the water, below the headphone holder will stick a kinetic that will reflect the hands to the screen.

This is show that every religious have its own way of cleanliness, especially BY placing the hand in the water and move it around. In my religion, everything that happens in life whether it is good or bad I believe it has its own reason. U can decide to be good or evil, because “to be good is hard, to be evil is easy”. Good can be simplified as clean, such as a person has washed his hand from being a robber. When the people want to be good, his always want to be clean from doing the wrong things before.

The peaceful and calming sound that came from the headphone is to make the mind-set of the human mind in peaceful situation. It also help human live happily at least out from stress for a moment.

I think of our installation as an inventory of fragments,objects,drawings,paintings,photoghraphs,music,and other inventions.They are improvised sites in which the constructed and the ready made are used to question the viewers language and knowledge of the world,inviting the viewer to move into a space of speculation,as the hand moves,displaying different visuals on the screen.We rely on our desires for beauty,music,and feelings.

Water,the symbolism of water has a universal undertone of purity and fertitlity.Symbolically,it is viewed as the source of life itself.It is also considered as an aspect of wisdom,the concept here is that water takes on the form in which it is held and moves in the path of the least resistance.Thus,the basin filled with water in our installation.So this process points to the differences which are hidden in plain sight,and making visible what is overlooked in terms of beauty,through reflection.

Music,sounds combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form,harmony,and expression of emotion.Hence,there will be music within the installation,different genres,and from different generations.invoking different kinds of feelings,and providing a different specific mood as per viewer.

Artist Statement

This work is actually an art of sound which is mainly related with the leap motion. Our task is to relate the generations with this work. It is how this work is being portrayed in a sophisticated way along with the idea of this generation of millennium era.

First of all, leap motion is where it tracks your hand movements and portray the results on the screen. There is a basin filled with water. Then the leap will track your hand and when your hand moves, there will be visuals being portrayed on the screen set up in front of the basin. Those visuals will change accordingly depends on your hand movements. Moreover, there is a headphones placed on top of the model which will be playing calming sounds generated while the visuals being played. Those were the explanations about how our idea will work on as the model we have came up with.

It can be said that generations from this era of millennium need something that will be very sophisticated and unique as this world is moving towards a very advanced level of technologies. The world today, more than ever, is a steadily shrinking planet, as new technology allows us to cross boundaries and attempt feats that were once only dreams. So, this type of work will be something that’s useful for the new generation as well.
