Hey, random thought.
If skeletons could control magic bones, do you think they could learn how to control...
HUMAN BONES?
And not just dead ones.
LIVING HUMAN BONES INSIDE YOUR BODY?
DO YOU THINK THEY CAN MAKE US PUPPETS? CAN THEY MAKE US MEAT PUPPETS?
(I want to make a fic about this lmao)
(Also, combine this with pushing their gravity magic to the extreme and we're cooked)
Have a nice day!
OHHHHHH HOOHOOOOOOOO
I think that maybe after allotttt of training skeletons could learn to manipulate others bones. And of course, following this growing control of their bone magic, they could also potentially learn how manipulate human bones and turn them into sorta like an actual living puppet lmfao.
This would also apply to other monsters as well in my imagination. However this depends on one, your hcs to whether even monsters do have bones or actual organs and if their form is not just completely made out of magic- and also whether the monster or not has the biology needed to perform this act (in this case bones). So, beings like Napstablook, Moldsmal etc who dont have any bones can't be affected by this, because well they don't have any bones! While on the other hand beings like Undyne or even other skeletons could be affected, cause they got bones!
I do however think that this sorta magic, or this way of using it leans in to the more "forbidden" or "banned" area. Like if caught using it on purpose or with malicious intent, the individual using it would be in some real serious trouble. In saying that I also think for certain skeletons who have high control of their magic and use it frequently enough, could also accidentally learn how to do this.
To add onto this headcannon... This part of their magic may also be a big factor into why the skeletons would be chosen as a part of the front lines in the human vs monster war. Since they could control humans for a bit, this would have given a huge advantage to the monster's side. This alongside them being able to use blue magic would slow down the humans massively and allow monsters to attack them without the possibility of being injured back. They could also turn the humans against each other!! (YEAH WE ARE SO COOKED BRUH)
(Side note, that's not too related to skeletons but I think is interesting non the less: Monsters with green magic would also be scattered with them on the first line. This is for the same reasons skeletons were casted to be on the front lines for their blue magic.)
Yeah, skeletons are pretty op.
AND THATS WHY THEY NEED TO GET NERFED.
When a skeleton controls the bones within another being to turn them into a meat puppet. Their life or soul energy gets sapped. If the skeleton manipulates the other being for an exceedingly long amount of time, they fall gravely ill. From what's been documented, firstly a deep fatigue will fall upon them weighing the skeleton down, then they will begin to experience a splitting headache, their own bones may even begin to fall off on their own! After that... Well, a few vague cases say that the puppeteers died after holding the control for too long. The suspected limit ranges from 20- 30 mins on normal monsters and humans.
No one really is sure why this happens, some say it's the universe or even the angel punishing those who want more life than what they are given. But as said, no one truly knows...
The 'puppet' will be left with no side-effects from the control itself, no matter what happens to the puppeteer. They can however, still be damaged by outer forces.
After the war, as stated previously, this pathway for skeleton magic would fall into the 'banned' territory due to... ethical reasons. Over time the knowledge of this being a part of skeleton magic would be less and less heard of. Partly due to the banishment of it which meant that no one ever really used it. And the fact that no one ever really needed to, it just isn't needed in everyday life. So, if a skeleton were to encounter it or learn it in modern days, it would be very rare and most likely on accident.
Also BOSS MONSTERS!!!!!!!!!!!! I think that skeletons could still affect boss monsters with their manipulation of bones, however I do believe that it wouldn't be as effective nor would they be able to hold it for very long. And yeah, that limit I mentioned previously for how long they could hold control of their puppet for? EXCEEDINGLY MINIMISED, the maximum they can hold a boss monster as a puppet without any grave consequences is 7- 10 mins.
Um yeah, I think I'm done now.
Thank you for reading my long horrendously written confusing yap/ headcannons. thhewiofnwioj ACTUALLY THANK YOU FOR SENDING AN ASK HEEHEEE
This is also just giving me flashbacks to the skeletwins chapter 29 'Muffets Puppet'.... oh how the turns have tabled...
If you do make a fic about this (with or without aspects of this hc) then omg I would be very excited and happy. I love reading about how people interpret monsters magic and their biology and how it could be used and the consequences of it to themselves and other people both physically and mentally and- IDKBdiuoKJNOIDJWPOKPOkewdkmdkjenkjmwn its just very cool. thank you heheheheeeeee
You have a nice day/ night too dude!!!
OMG I DID NOT EXPECT THIS LONG AN ANSWER OMG
I love this!!! Because I was actually thinking of this scenario! For context, from what you said, I truly believe Sans and Papyrus could accidentally figure out they can do it. I feel like they would be able to do it, especially considering how powerful the two already are. And I feel like Papyrus might figure it out first. He just seems like the type to use his magic in combat more often.
The thing is, though, I don't think the brothers would WANT to use it. For exactly those ethical reasons. Papyrus is too nice (and I feel like he'd find the very concept disgusting), and Sans has reservations against fighting in general, so for them, this ability is a BIG no-no! Especially in a Skeletwins context, they just wouldn't ever consider doing such a thing.
(Though certain types of Gasters... Maybe he would use it... He's powerful enough... I wonder if it applies to shattered monsters, though.)
Anyway, back to the scenario. I was thinking of one on the surface where Frisk and the brothers go to a museum and look at the bones and stuff, and Frisk asks, "Hey, you control bones, right? Could you control those bones?" And then Papyrus would try very hard... And then the bone would twitch and everyone freaks out. And then Sans tries it and manages to move it and they freak out again. And then they accidentally knock over the skeleton lol.
And then the next day, Frisk would ask them if they could move living bones, and the brothers would be like, "Nope, not gonna try that, good day!"
Anyway, thanks for answering!
Hehe I do like to yap abt ut headcannons even if it takes a while for me to respond eee...
BUT YESSSSS I fully agree with you on how the skelebros would feel about this skill, AND OH THE SKELETWINS yesysyegeywyw
They would NOT like it whatsoever I can so imagine that!!!
And yes yes papyrus being the one to figure out this ability first by accident? YESYS oh I can so imagine him like sparring with undyne, being backed into a corner and he just like panics and learns this by accident- in my mind this leads to him using it for almost a bit too long because both of them are curious, papyrus less so than undyne. She however is like insanely excited about this new development in papyrus's powers which end up pushing him a bit too far and.... Then he gets a lot of healing and fluff :]
Would he tell sans after? Allowing for sans to learn how to avoid using it by accident? Because as your said he would not like the idea of this ability whatsoever- ESPECIALLY combined with his distain towards violence and fighting.
However I can imagine lento pre uhh- pre incident being super like grossed out by this ability but still very curious. I feel like he'd try it once not for any combat reasons but just for the sake just of doing it, to just see what would happen. He'd probs feel immediately guilty afterwards though and then proceed to never do it again. - idk ekwuehw8whwhw
uggggHhhhhhHHhHHHHHHH AND GASTER???
Would he be able to use this from his shattered realm? Maybe as a way to kinda haunt the underground??? Like he'd actually become a creepypasta or like an ACTUAL ACTUAL GHOST??
Oh and him just haunting the bros using random monsters body's?? Ohhh that's so weirddd! I wonder how the townsfolk would react to the possessed monsters....
AND YESSSS
YOUR IDEA FOR THE SURFACE SCENARIO WITH THIS CONCEPT???? OH YESSSSSSSSS!!!
Them doing shenanigans and messing up the bone displays in a museum brings me much joy. Like both of them indulging and answering frisks at first simple questions about what can do.... and it just leading to trouble behhehehe, oh I can imagine them being chased out by security and general on lookers just being absolutely shocked by the whole ordeal.
and anD AND
FRISK BEING THE CURIOUS LITTLE BUGGER THEY ARE WOULD ABSOLUTLEY WANT TO SEE JUST HOW FAR THEY CAN PUSH THE SKELETON BROS POWERS-
AND FOR THEM TO BE LIKE
"nope nuh uh, not today kid not ever."
"HUMAN! WHU UH- NO???? I AM A SKELETON WITH VERY HIGH MORAL STANDARDS!!!"
What would frisk be willing to do to get them to show off their full ability? How determined is frisk to see this ability in action? Ohhh I can see a lesson in here....iwiwgwhwjwjw OK IM DONE I YAP TOO MUCH
shshshshhsss
They make me happy, this makes me happy :]
JUST PLAIN YES
I WANT TO DRAW THIS NOW
Thank you for bringing me this concept/ headcanon and scenario ehehheeheeee
If u do write a fic about this scenario then uhhhhh I will.....
like probably build a statue of you in your honor???
Ok I'm done now, disappearing- and thank you for reading my yaps I'm very appreciative!!!! HEHE-
