The Finish Line
As we come to the end of our four weeks I created a vlog that describes my thoughts and feelings
PR Reflection
Ever since undergrad I‘ve hated being in front of the camera so week one and week four forced me to listen to my voice and how I pronunciation my words and how many deep breathes that I took. This course made me face myself and actually get in front of the camera which is something I hate. My overall objective for this course was to re-establish my connection with the public relations world and to get a better understanding of PR from a journalistic approach, which we covered on week 2 lessons Journalism vs PR, media catching and Public relations & ethics. The comparison that we had to create in week 2 discussion was a bit difficult and you could see that from my work. I forgot to put my journalism hat on instead I consistently wore my publicist hat which can be hard to remove at times.
I would have loved if we had a live stream class for week 3 especially for those who are new to the 4-3-2-1 of promoting your brand. Although I have experience in promotion I felt as though the examples giving for this lesson did not help and the links to the videos were accurate. This is one of the concepts that I wish I can learn more about.
As we come to the end week four of Public Relations and Reputation Management you are hit with the real-life reality of the wrapping our master’s program up. This class was just a refresher for me because I have my undergraduate degree in Public Relations and the topics that were covered over the last four weeks brought back memories from my PR days.
Overall this course was very informative and the feedback that we received from our classmates was very helpful when it came to our about me pages. The feedback that I received will help shape my career as well as helps me understand what I need to change on my website going forward.
My nerves have officially kicked in as we gear up to focus on our last class of this program.
SEM Overview
Multimedia Course
It seems as though the last four weeks have zoomed past us without blinking an eye. This class has been very informative from learning the different styles of interviewing ,learning about what type of external resources are available in the multimedia world . When I first started this program I was very weary about how I would finally accomplish my dreams of finally going back to complete my journey of earning my graduate degree. Here I am in the month of May with only three classes left.
My goal for this course was to understand and comprehend what I could learn and take away from the world of multimedia. I wanted to Fully understand what careers I could inquire about when I’m done with my degree, I’m currently in the process of trying to find freelance work to help upstart my career.
Ms. Lee archive live stream videos, pdf and reading material was very helpful to understand each topic that was covered over the last four weeks.
My overall experience has been great I’m looking forward to my upcoming classes and completing my capstone project. I’m interested in knowing what to expect next in our next class .
I would like to know what my other classmates feel about the class ? I feel like our professor covered all the bases needed for the class . Only thing I would have loved to see was a live stream class where we could have communicated as a class and had our questions answered as a cohort.
I would have learn to go more into depth with the SEO portion of the class. We covered the topic in week four it was very informative to get the feedback from my website? I know how what I need to change to be at 100% for my website. I’m looking forward to our next class.
Digital New Production and How it impacted my learning.
During this course I wanted to learn how to properly interview people for a story and create content for an interesting topic. However, I personally feel as though I could have done a better job on my stories and the content that I covered. I should have researched interesting topics and found induvial who were reliable and could keep their word when I scheduled an interview. I’m still in the process of learning how to use adobe suite as well as the Sony video camera.
During this course our amazing professor Jeff wanted our class to grasp the concept of digital new production on and off the camera. He wanted to make sure we learned what angles of the camera are appropriate, what sound bites will catch the attention of others and how to become an experience journalist over the past four weeks.
As a student of Full Sail Jeff as set the bar high for his graduate students and wants nothing but the best project wise and professionalism. I feel as though I have some more techniques, I need to learn so my skills as a journalist can be better.
Each week Jeff holds a live streaming class where he does an overview on the upcoming material that we will cover for the week. His live videos are very help for me because I am a visual learner and it allows me to better understand what our projects are about and how they should be created. Over all the example videos that he provides to the students is also very helpful and gives great tips on how to edit certain content, research and present to the audience in which you are trying to reach.
This course has prepared me to be a better journalist by paying attention to key details, having cited research articles and diving into a topic and pulling out the factual information and how it should be published for TV, Print and radio.
I tell have some basic and advance skills that I need to master but I have faith that I will get there and everything will be okay.

My MDV Experience
I was super excited to start this class after the last class I had that I wasn’t a fan of. I was praying that the professor was more personal and very detailed.
The first day of was exciting , Jeff created an amazing video introducing the course and himself in a very unique life of way. The introduction video displayed the meaning of what we would be covering in MDV.
Although I suffered some health issues this class I wasn’t able to accomplish every goal I set for myself. I still want to properly learn how to edit on audition, make my writing better so it can be more journalistic and not seem like it’s thrown together.
Jeff was very up front on how this course would go. From his introduction I created three personal goals I wanted to create for myself.
Learn how to properly develop a website and have it up and running. I’m still in the process of making my website flow better and I want to fully get it verified through google. I wasn’t a big fan or word-press so I decided to go with wix because their lay out was easier for me to manage.

Secondly I wanted to learn about creating a podcast and I just say creating this project was fun , it actually made me one to create a main podcast and just focus on topics dealing with everyday life.
I’m currently in the process of trying to find someone to create me a logo and song for my intro and outro for my podcast. I’m still in the process of developing the name.
Lastly I’ve always wanted to learn how to use spark and I did . It’s very interesting it reminds me of PowerPoint but runs a little smoother then other platforms.
Overall this course was amazing , next class I’m going to push myself to the next level so I can further my goals and actually do what I’m capable of doing. This class I actually questioned myself and my ability to complete the class since I was sick majority of the time but I pushed through but not how I wanted too. I have to learn how to find a topic that’s interesting and will grab the attention of others.
Over It!!
Research and investigative development!! Ummmm Overall if I had to give the class a grade when it comes to numbers it would be a D.
On January 5th, 2019 I sat down and develop three goals that I would like to achieve during these past four weeks, understanding what the proper way to research and understand the methods of journalism, interview feedback, and understanding the interview techniques. I feel as though this should have been a class that Was introduced to its students before our law class, I say this because we started writing articles for our blog before we even started to interview prospective clients for our upcoming articles. To be perfectly honest, I don’t feel as though I fulfilled any of my goals that I set for myself when it came to this class. I honestly full ad though the class could have been better when it came to interaction Go To Meetings, instruction, and communication among classmates.
As journalism graduated student I would love to properly understand the proper way to communicate with our interviewee.
Better luck next go round!
* What was your favorite assignment in this course? Please explain. My favorite assignment for this course was our Keynote presentation, I enjoyed this assignment because you were able to be creative while presenting the case we were given for the project. I think to enjoy this presentation so much because it was my first time using keynote and my first time actually narrating my presentation. I want to master my narrative and speech when it comes to the voice overs so I can make sure my audience can tell I’m not reading word for word. I have the tendency of being ODC and I feel like I paused too many times and I wasn’t following the script that we had to write. I felt as though the script wasn’t needed because I believe recording in a freestyle way sounds better from an audience point of view.
* Of the course topics covered this month, which one(s) do you think will be most helpful to you as a communication professional? Learning about all the different forms that are needed when you are submitting articles, trying to have pictures and quotes posting in your work was very interesting to me. Learning about the copying writing act was very intriguing because I didn’t know that certain articles, pictures, audio etc weren’t covered under the was.
* How will the knowledge you acquired this month prepare you to handle potential legal issues in the communications industry? Learning more about the FCC laws and forms have definitely prepared me as a journalist, so many things have changed since I received my undergraduate degree in 2009. I still would like to go into depth when it comes to the laws about what’s legal and illegal to post on social media outlets since social media is the go-to communication outlet for many professionals in different business avenues. Laws change almost every day so I know I must read up on them as the change happens.
Knocking my goals out of the Park!
These past 8 weeks have simply been amazing! Our professor Meredith has been very supportive when it comes to our crazy ideas, heartfelt articles, and open conversations. These two classes have allowed me to monitor my journalist view in life, it brought out a different side in me, I was able to find my voice again because it’s been lost for almost ten years. Being a natural born journalist I’ve been able to write my crazy thoughts down and share them with my classmates and receiving feedback and my cohort understanding my point of view in life.
My ultimate goal while finishing my courses is to secure an internship in media journalism in hopes of finally starting my career which would make my dreams finally come true. I often questioned my ability to complete a master’s program after being out of school for ten years after enrolling in numerous masters programs and not being able to find my niche when it came to furthering my education. When I enrolled into Full Sail and took my first two classes I knew I had finally found my niche in life and I knew it’s been my passion since I was a teenager and it brought back my happiness that I lost years ago and when my uncle passed away.
As I enter into my next class I'm excited to see the law side of journalism, I know laws are put into place on a daily basis and have changed since I took my media law class in 2004. I hope to walk away from these next two classes gaining a greater knowledge of the media laws in 2018, the do’s and do n’t and how I can utilize these laws in my future career.
As February slowly approaches I’m excited to attend the Hall Of Fame Event on campus since I’m an online student it will be very interesting meeting my fellow classmates, meeting our professors and touring the campus.
Will I achieve my goals of finally being a contributor to a major publication such as Essence Magazine or Roc Nation.

New Media Communications
Good Day, As I set back and reflect on my journey over the past four weeks, I must say it was very informative. Starting this new journey of completing my master's I've been very hesitant when it comes to starting a new class because I'm not sure how well I will do or what to expect from my professors. Coming into this program I didn' t have a full understanding of what the classes would consist of. The New Media and Communications class was my first core class it allowed me to buckle down, focus and organize my thought process. This class allowed me to reach into me many thoughts that I have in my head and write it down on a piece of paper. Often times I have the tendency to write more then what may be asked. Our professor gave us great feedback for every assignment that we submitted. There were a few times where I would have ideas when it came to the different topics that I was interested in speaking up about, but I never narrowed the topics down to focus on one certain area of concern. Some of my main focuses in this class were to actually develop a storyline and narrow down my topic of choice without being too wordy. I found that my classmates answers to out discussion questions were very interesting and we shared some of the same interest. One thing that I wished could have happened was that I received more feedback and questions from my classmates, I would often time have several questions on their post but would never receive a response. During this past four weeks, I was able to learn to dig deeper into my storyline and to narrow my topics down to focus on one main point. My overall goal during my journey in this program is to develop my writing skills, figure out what career path I want to take and being my journey of doing so.
