[ SQUISHES YOU ]
It took a second, but Iris had to take a step back and try to get calm again. It wasn’t the female’s fault that she had fallen. And really, it was his own fault for moving so fast and dropping the paint onto the canvas in the first place. He was just surprised to have someone so quickly grab onto his pants. He glanced down at the female with concern, bending down. He should look to see if she was okay, first.
He reached out and grabbed her wrist, turning to look at the palms. A little bloody and a lot muddy. He made a noise in his throat before reaching into his bag to look for wipes to clean her hands. He eventually pulled out the wipes with a smile. He hoped this would help.
Patiently, she let him examine her hand, lips curling halfheartedly as she waited for some kind of reaction to what had happened. He didn't seem angry, which was amazing, because that mud and blood on his pants was definitely going to stain. Hopefully he hadn't been too fond of the pair. She exhaled in surprise when he offered the wipes, weak smile turning into a full-blown grin as she cleaned herself.
Being an inventor, she was used to having dirty or wounded hands -- her fingers were already rough from frequent use. Still, she was grateful that she wouldn't have to walk around in such a disgruntled condition. Aurelia pointed at the mark on his pants, eyebrows furrowing despite her smile. ♠; "I could buy you a new pair."
"Yes. The fish. I eat koi. You got a problem with that ?" A brow rose as his gaze directs toward where the voice omits. "And I shouldn't of said it because I don't like to be tempted that way. 'Specially if it's gonna make me look foolish. But go ahead and spill it since you mentioned." Said the ruffian, tossing a scroll in the air and catching it. Repeating the process in order to keep himself busy. "And besides, drool is usually viscous. And I did leave the Sound Village to gather poisonous herbs for a moment y'know."
♠; "Spill--?" Her eyebrows went from crinkled in confusion to smoothed. Oh, she thought. It was a figure of speech. She wasn't supposed to spill anything literally -- unless she counted words. "How would it make you look foolish?" It was pretty hard for her, someone who spent the majority of her time surrounded by tools and machines, to consider anyone foolish. She'd have continued anyways, to fulfill tell a secret as she'd said she would, when she actually processed his words. "Poisonous herbs? Are you making something? Or is it for something more sinister?" She was nothing if not a curious person.
"Did you know some poisons, when paired with the right herb, can actually be neutralized and make an amazing spice to certain foods?"

Smart move Ciel. It wasn’t exactly an invitation to stay till dinner. It was more of a ‘You should probably find some other place for food.’ Now what. He couldn’t just kick her out.
“ No, hold on ! I didn’t mean― Inventor, huh ? Well those villagers weren’t wrong. I am now very intrigued. ”
Very good. While his initial response seemed a little dissatisfied, he definitely seemed interested now. Which meant she'd be getting good food and a likely chance to build something. ♠; "I'm best with weapons," she said bluntly, complete demeanor seeming to change. "But I can make pretty much anything for the right motivation." She often worked commissions and this could be interesting.
Being the daughter of Hecate offered so many opportunities. Plus-- she sneezed. The nights were cold. "Perhaps you'd extend this one meal to another in the morning."

Iris gave an irritated huff. His paints were ruined now. His hands flew around wildly as he begin to sign his displeasure at having his things destroyed.
This was unfortunate. Aurelia blinked, the corners of her mouth only the slightest frown. There was mud everywhere. When she had fallen, she had grabbed onto the nearest thing when trying to stand back up. Now, because of her not thinking, there was a muddy hand print on a stranger's pants (and even a bit of blood, from the grazes the fall had left on her skin), and even more mud on her.
♠; "Oh," she stared at her wounded and dirtied palms only briefly, before turning her gaze up to the person she'd offended. "I am sorry."
Favorite foods? "No," he answered her. It was a lie, his favorite food was Raspberries but that wasn’t exactly a meal so he didn’t feel the need to let her know about that. Besides, they may have some dishes with raspberries for desserts if they had such good ones… For the most part, Ai ate what he was given and didn’t think too much on it. When he was younger he had foods he hated to eat, but it was easy to be beaten for not eating and meals could come scares anyway. You learned to just swallow it without thinking. “Yeah…” Ai agreed, though he wasn’t too sure he wanted to really be her friend. Not that there was anything wrong with her—except the fact that she was weird and a little concerning—but he wasn’t going to be rude. "Let’s go then?"
Who didn't have a favorite food? That was disconcerting and actually a bit sad. How could a person be indifferent to the delight that was food? She understood forgetting about the necessity of eating-- that was one thing. But when the hunger and need to eat actually called and came demanding at the door of one's body, it must be very dull to not have certain foods you preferred. What a sad culinary existence.
He hadn't exactly said no to being her friend and she was obtuse to subtler hints; as his self-proclaimed friend, it was pretty much her duty to fix his seeming indifference to food.
♠; "Right," she nodded dutifully, smiling at him once more before starting the walk to her favorite restaurant. After a second of silence, the fact that people usually enjoyed conversations came up. Right. Unlike machines, humans generally saw silence as uncomfortable. "So. . . . What are you? What do you do?" Good start.

"… and her soul is dark, I think, and she knows it."
Zulawski on Adjani (via innocentdelirium)
Why was she still going on about this—bleeding out thing? There was no bleeding out! It was frustrating, but he didn’t comment on it and simply thought about the new issue at hand; eating with her. Did he want to do that? Did he want to have a meal with her—she was weird. But at the same time…his hand tightened on his shirt that covered his belly. He was hungry. ”I guess I can do that,” he admitted to her before blinking slowly. "Uh—Ai. I’m Ai."
Fantastic! Not only had he shown concern over her wound, he had also agreed to eating with her. She really was making progress in learning how to handle social situations. ♠; "Do you have any favorite foods? If not, I know this really amazing place. It's small and a bit unknown but-- well, the owners are really nice. They have desserts that are to die for, as well!" The place was a bit strange, like her, but the environment of it was altogether welcoming.
"It's nice to meet you, Ai. I hope we can be friends."

“ I’m not the one making you repeat yourself, it is you who is. Hunger brought you out here instead of the city. How wonderful. Right now, you’re at on Phantomhive property. As for your hunger, I have no food prepared. And I won’t have any till dinner. ”
It would be bothersome to let her wonder off, not to mention the city was miles away. Sigh.
Semantics. She supposed he was right on that count -- even if his questions were a prompt, it was her decision to repeat herself. She'd have frowned at him if she wasn't so busy grinning because of his words. That was basically an invitation to dinner, right?
♠; "I can wait!" She wasn't starving. Just a tad hungry. Now that the important matter of food was settled, it was time for business. "There's something else, as well-- I'm an inventor. I was speaking with some villagers and they suggested that I go to you. They thought you might be interested in what I can do."
"Hmph. The only way you'll ever catch me drooling is if you have koi for me to eat." Shiku huffed. But suddenly, the redhead blinked, realizing what had just came out of his mouth as a bead of sweat trickled along his brow. "Tch. I shouldn't of said that." The phoenix oni averted his gaze immediately following the statement, smoke expelling from the nostrils of the brutish male as he let out another huff.
How amusing. The stranger seemed so shy, adamantly denying the fact that he had been drooling. (Though, really, he hadn't been.) It was very entertaining. ♠; "Koi? Like the fish?" Her head tilted, moving to the left in a show of curiosity. Her desire to know things was flaming up, the embers of her mind slowly heating up. "Why shouldn't you have said that? Is it supposed to be a secret? If it makes you feel better, I could tell you a secret of my own."
It wasn’t really an inconvenience. He had gone out today without a real plan on where he was heading, so it wasn’t as if she was keeping him from something. She was very strange, but he wasn’t being held up. A little surprised when she asked if he was hungry—his hand moved down to hold his stomach as he thought. Technically speaking, he wasn’t allowed to eat food outside the Estate. But he had done it before and was never caught—he always washed his mouth out before heading home. And it had been a little bit since he ate… "Yes," he said, seeing no reason to lie.
At his affirmative reply, her hands clasped together below her chin, smile morphing from self-deprecating to actually enthusiastic. People needed sustenance and while that was sometimes easy to forget, she always remembered in time -- because she needed food, too, after all. ♠; "Good! If you have some time, would you like to get something to eat with me? I'll pay. You just saved me from bleeding out, so it's really the least I can do."
Then, as she had only just remembered, she added, "Oh, it slipped my mind but I didn't introduce myself. I'm Aurelia."
She had to be messing with him. About to bleed out? Even little kids would probably know they wouldn’t die from that… She was really weird and he found himself crossing his arms over his chest and gazing at her a little uncertain. "Then leave it alone, it’ll probably stop bleeding anyway. But you should at least wash it, it did look nasty."
As hopeless as Aurelia was with people, even she knew when she sounded like a five-year-old. She wasn't unintelligent. Far from it, really. She just didn't know how to act around sentient beings. ♠; "I'm sorry," she said with a smile. "I must be an inconvenience. Thank you for worrying about me. You're very kind." Maybe she could return the stranger's thoughtfulness somehow? "Are you hungry?"

He put his hand on his hip. What was he suppose to do, feed her? His schedule was filled, not to mention he had many letters to reply to. How would he know if she was to be trusted.
“ Hmp, hungry ? It’s been a while since lunch. So, Aurelia, what is it that brings you here ? ”
Suspicion was an unfortunate demon, tempting and stalking and twisting innocence into lies. Aurelia, the logical and socially-oblivious person that she was, dismissed all whispers of suspicion and unease that made their way into her mind. There was only one thing she was concerned about and it took precedence.
♠; "You're making me repeat myself, sir. I am hungry. That is what bring me here. Hunger and my feet. I do not know where I am, so I continued walking in one direction."
