I love and hate this photo on a spiritual level. It’s heart wrenching to see a man that will never see his son on this plane of existence anymore whose son is asking so many questions he may never get answers to. It’s painful to understand that his life sacrifice to keep others safe is lost to so many today who are out there claiming they have it so bad here in the United States. That’s why the American flag is so damn important. It’s love of all Americans that brought that man to wear the uniform to protect and the flag represents all Americans. And that’s why it should never be burned and why it should be saluted/given reverence. It is our physical reminder of the sacrifices seen and unseen that are made for all Americans.
