If anything, I think this update could turn Tumblr into a more toxic platform.

I hate interaction metrics, but Tumblr notes weren't really useful for anything other than telling you how much impact a post had. Not being useful was a good thing.

The new system makes it more like X or Reddit, where people indulge in posts that make them feel validated by the big numbers (or bigger than others... I hope people don't start looking for ratios, dear God).

I hate social media so much. All of them suck.

I think the reason I stopped using Tumblr on my phone is that many posts take up way too much space, both vertically and horizontally.
