Palamedes remembers everything: that was his problem. I always remember him. Thatâs mine.
Um.
Hi.
Apparently I decided to wake this tumblr up to tell you:
a) I read the Locked Tomb series, and;
b) I am obsessively in love with Camilla Hect and now have three story drafts started about her, and;
c) the above should be no shock because it is well known that I have A Type.
So....
How are yâall?
Hi!
I atenât dead!
I am writing a thing. It may appear soon.
But mostly:

a question asked out of mostly but not ENTIRELY...
@thievinghippo and I drove by itâŠumâŠ3 years ago? and we googled it. not what we expected
And even the Google results do not quite explain what it is. :D
I ask because it is one of the few examples of the truly inexplicable and numinous that I know of in the modern world, and I want to bring everyone into it for at least two hours, and then sit down with them over strong coffee to discuss âso okay but wtf was that?â
a question asked out of mostly but not ENTIRELY idle curiosity
How many of you have been to the Museum of Jurassic Technology in Los Angeles?
Here is my Star Wars thought of the day:
I am not a fan of the Empire or the First Order. They are a bunch of fascist space racists (or racist space fascists, however you prefer to order it), who willingly committed genocide several times over. I have always been on the side of scrappy rebels, especially scrappy rebels named âLeiaâ or âRey.â (Or âChewbacca.â)
However.
(There had to be a âhowever,â didnât there?)
There is one, small, tiny scrap of sympathy I have for the Empire/First Order, and that is this: they keep building a very efficient, smoothly-running empire, and then people keep jamming whackaloons with magical powers in the highest ranks of that empire willy-nilly.
Like? Motti, Tarkin, Thrawn, Hux, Phasma. Bad people, let me be clear. But they keep having their orderly little (or big) empire screwed up because someone at the top was unstable and had weird visions and could rearrange the entire battle strategy around those weird visions. To their detriment, becasue the scrappy rebels had better weird visions.
As a sympathizer with the scrappy rebels, I am glad of this. But I canât help but imagine Phasma repeatedly banging her head against her desk, going, ânot agaaaaaain.â
Also, while, again, I am normally on Team Scrappy Rebels, for my money the bravest man in all of the Star Wars movies is that one dude in Return of the Jedi who says âItâs an older code, sir, but it checks out. I was about to clear them.â
Because he freely admits to a potential error not just to Big Boss Man, but to a Big Boss Man whose idea of a performance review isÂ
âStrangulation?:Â

(It occurs to me that this is basically 100% of Cipher Nineâs storyline.)

Thank you for the wonderful mental image of Josie pulling out every diplomatic trick her book in an overly elaborate attempt to get both Cassanda and Leliana, because she damn well deserves to have her cake and eat it too. ('Accidentally' arranges for them to be trapped in a cabin too? Who knows.) <3
Hah, youâre welcome!
And sheâs going to need every trick she has because Cassandra need cajoling into any relationship (I mean, thatâs basically canonical, sheâs all âIâm old and tired and cranky and devoted to my cause and thus have decided to be celibate for everyoneâs good and I literally need The Most Romantic Candles In All Thedas to convince me otherwiseâ), and Leliana I imagine doing her whole âmy hands are So Dirty and you are So Pure and also I need to listen to some more emo musicâ routine. Getting either of them into a functional relationship would probably be a bit of a trick. Getting both of them at once? Hard mode.
But sheâs up to it. I think. Sheâs got plenty of room up those sleeves for tricks.
Brain: I donât wanna write anymore. I wanna read something.Â
Me: Alright, I guess we could do that for a bit. What do you wanna read?Â
Brain: Donât know. Wanna read.Â
Me: Thereâs a lot to choose from. How about this?Â
Brain: No. Not that. I wanna read a thing that fits these exact specifications.Â
Me: Uh, alright, wow. Those are really exact specificatio-
Me: âŠ
Me:Â Are you telling me you want to read the exact thing we were writing?Â
Brain: YES! I wanna read that. Letâs read that.Â
Me: âŠ
Me: I donât know how to tell you this, but we have to write it first.Â
Yep.
Truth.

servantofclio replied to your post: any Josephine/Leliana/Cassandra thoughts?
they are all SNOWBOUND IN A CABIN WITH ONLY ONE BED
...Cassandra and Leliana arm wrestle for who gets to/has to sleep on the floor. Josephine rolls her eyes at the masochist tango going on and makes more tea.
(This might work though.)

any Josephine/Leliana/Cassandra thoughts?
Two thoughts:
a) I love it like burning and have so many ideas.
b) Every time I try to write them down, either Cassandra or Leliana decides to ~nobly~ back off and let the other two have their romance, and I have not quite figured out how to get around that.
Perhaps I need to crack their heads together like coconuts. (Or Josie does.)
Have you seen the Dragon Prince? If so, what did you think?
This is honestly the first Iâve heard about it, because I live in a hole in the ground, like a hobbit. :DÂ But I presume from this ask that I should?
One of my favorite authors is doing a Babylon 5 rewatch and tweeting about it and GOOD LORD, was that show ever a formative influence for me. Straczynski isnât without his issues, but the fact that he oversaw almost the entire show is an incredible achievement, and his passion for his work is undeniable.Â
My dad used to make audio tapes of the episodes and weâd listen to them on long car rides, which is how I can still recite large chunks of the first three seasons from memory (including the greatest speech/brick joke of all time, Virâs takedown of Morden â talk about payoff).Â
And so many of the episodes function as mini-movies; you can watch âSevered Dreamsâ (that episode is one of the greatest mic drops in the history of TV science fiction) and glean everything you need to know to understand the plot in the first ten minutes.Â
It also gave us Delenn, and Ivanova, and Talia, and GâKar (hahahaha leave me here, can we talk about the character development on this show?), and excuse me, itâs time for me to go start my own rewatch.Â
YESSSS.
Ivanova and Talia were Babyâs First Femslash Pairing for me (I still think of that one episode with the young telepath as Ivanova and Talia Have A Loverâs Spat About Their Adoptive Daughter, heh), and Delennâs speech during Severed Dreams was the epitome of badass, and GâKar is how one does character arcs, to me.
But I was rewatching again a few years ago and ended up monologuing to anyone who would hold still long enough about how Vir was the most incredible of all of them, because he realized that he was part of a system that was abusive and wrong, complicit in that system, and set out quietly and without fanfare or self-praise to do what he could to fix it, until you would basically have to stick a sock in my mouth to stop me going on and on about Vir.
tl;dr: I need my own rewatch <3
Playing through Dragon Age: Origins again after many years makes me nine thousand percent sadder about Leliana in Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Seriously, I am almost to the point where Iâm like âBioware, please donât put Cassandra or Josephine in the fourth Dragon Age game, because I KNOW YOU WILL MAKE ME CRY.â
