I wonder if y'all understand how awful you sound when you position something like pedophilia as a “mental illness” rather than the abuse of power that it is. Pedophilia is not a mental illness and making it out to be one just makes mentally ill people more marginalized. Pedophilia is an adult that is aware of the power imbalance between children and adults and decides to exploit that imbalance for sexual gratification. It is 100% something in the adult’s control and is not something that comes from some scary ~mental issue~ that makes adults choose to harass and traumatize children.
