“Okay, but I really need to get this idea to the big leagues. It could be the best cinematic breakthrough of all time. Think Ratatouille, but with squirrels.”
uncleboingmatthews:
“You don’t make this sound like it’ll be very fun for me but I already gave the guy my ticket so okay.”
“Why is everyone bringing up fun like me destroying them in an obstacle course isn’t fun?”
“— someone’s a little too excitable.”
“Someone's sounding an awful lot like a sore loser.”
“isn’t the whole point of an obstacle course to have fun??” as soon as the words leave his mouth, he winces. auradon’s left quite the impression on him.
“Having fun?” Maddie gapes at him. “Winning is fun, pretty boy.”
“And you are now looking at the number one champion of the winter wipeout obstacle course! Bam! What?! Who’s my next victim?”
“I was gone shooting a movie for part of the time, so…! Okay!! I did pick up on lingo, just evidently not the right kind. Old people find that sort of thing endearing. Joey…is…well, he has a certain appeal.”
“Not all of the time! You picked up on practically nothing. This isn’t even a real conversation anymore because I’m obviously her.. y’know, favorite and you nor Parker nor Joseph even compare to me.”
“Is that a trick question? Maybe you’ll remember the part where I was gone for years shooting a hit television show?? You can ask her if you want, because I’m sure she would never admit to playing favorites. Besides, isn’t the baby always the favorite? She’d probably choose Parker over both of us.”
“Liv, you realize that you’d been back for like three years, right? Three. That is more than enough time to pick up some type of lingo. And Parker? That chump? He calls himself Dr. P like it’s going to stick. I’m supposed to see him as competition? That’s like saying Joey is even a contender. You wound me.”
“no way. i looked everywhere for a copy of that game!! it’s sold out everywhere. you wouldn’t wanna’ sell it, would you?? i’ll pay you double.”
“You could offer me your soul right now, and I wouldn’t trade it for this game. I don’t even want to open it yet. I’m taking a week or two to marinate in its presence.”
“literal cougars. in the flesh.”
“Ooh, that sounds intense. Can’t say I’ve ever experienced that- though I know a pretty rude badger, but I think the fame has just gotten to him over the years. He’s really misunderstood.”
“You never remember who won which Oscars each year!! I’m pretty sure more than one sport has goals.” Liv rolled her eyes. “I know what soccer is, Maddie. Excuse me for thinking courts were reserved for food. Not knowing sports terms hardly makes me less lovable.”
“When is the last time you participated in March Madness, Olivia??” Maddie scoffed, her eyebrows raised. “With how big Dad and I are with basketball, you really think you would’ve caught on to something by now. Instead it’s like I’m talking to a wall- but I think even a wall could tell me what a free throw is better. Are you really trying to tell me that I’m not Grandma’s favorite? The Grandma? The one that is the mother to our mother that I am obviously the favorite of? I’m not trying to sound harsh, but I need to confirm that we’re speaking of Grandma Janice.”
“that’s a little.. cruel, but i suppose it’s fine if you didn’t break out into a brawl with the whole kid. are you gonna share?”
“It’s not cruel when he was obviously in my way. A fresh victim to annihilate? Don’t mind if I do.”
“Must be even worse. Old people and people in the perfect age for puperty. What a fun time that must be. Not that the town I’m from is any better, people just constantly die. Yeah, very obvious! You heard me laugh really loudly, didn’t you?”
“Are you kidding? Steven’s Point is the best-- Porcupines represent!” She paused her words for a second to do her teams battle cry. “It’s the greatest. and thankfully we’re not dealing with constant deaths. We have a pretty usual rate, I think.”
“Plants grow on me; people do not.”
“Plants, really? That sounds super uncomfortable and honestly a little bit like it’d be in one of Joey’s graphic novels.”
“You forget a lot of things that I think are highly important. Stop acting like goals are not a sports thingy!! A run shot, like when you run from one end of the field to the other.”
“I don’t forget half of what you do, Hollywood. You’re delusional. Goals are a soccer term. Soccer. As in the game with the patterned ball that you kick.” She let out a long sigh towards her sister. “A court, Liv. I play on a court. This is why I’m Grandma Janice’s favorite. It’s because I know that you don’t play basketball on a field.”
“i was too busy running from cougars trying to eat me.”
“Are we talking figurative cougars or real life cougars because if it’s the latter, that was not the reaction I was expecting...”
“well nice to meet you maddie rooney. i bet you’ll learn your way around here soon.”
“Here’s to hoping, yeah? I’m sure it won’t be too hard. I’m a master scavenger.”
“I got it!” Maddie beamed as she threw her arms into the air. In her grasp was a brand new video game, the last remaining copy of NBA 2K16; Early Tip Off Edition in the nearest store she could find. “It only took putting a ten year old in a headlock to grab the last one, but he deserved it and I got it! Bam! What?!”
