Maddox was well aware of just how adroit his friend was with lying, the words lacking truth slipping from the romancers mouth with ease, but he could also sense her hesitance. Reluctance however, that she’d ignore and see her plan through, just to spite him. He had to be smart and employ tact in these situations. “It’s not that I don’t approve, but... you’ve got enough regrets to last a lifetime, you don’t need this shit.”

sloan tilted his head slightly in response to maddox’s comeback. “ pro-tip: most of what comes out of my mouth is not at all sarcastic. ” he said after a moment. mostly just to see if maddox would actually get it. as much as sloan didn’t like to explain the joke he also sometimes found it kinda funny to watch things fly right over maddox’s head. “ which is to say i’m always sarcastic. i breathe sarcasm. ”
“You secrete sarcasm from your very pores, babe… that is not an understatement…” A smile flit across his lips and Maddox raised a hand to lightly prod the other males cheek, figuring the teasing could go both ways. “And I said you confuse me, not that I’m dumb. Sorry, try again!”
“ people who don’t get sarcasm are the worst. ” sloan sighed almost to himself. “ because either you have to explain it to them and that just kills the joke or they’re taking you at your word and i’m not sure which is worse. ” maybe it was only a problem for him because almost all of the words that came out of his mouth were sarcastic. or more likely it was just in his nature to complain.
“But it’s confusing, man! Half the time I don’t know if your words are dripping with disdain, sarcasm or sincerity. I... I get so confused when you talk to me half the time.” Maddox huffed out a breath and shook his head, focusing on Sloan’s eyes with his own whilst he all but whined the rest of his comment. “I take everything to heart.”
If you could change anything about yourself what would it be?
“I’d want to be stronger emotionally. I feel things a little too deeply. People’s words tend to affect me long after they’ve been said. Things resonate for a while and I just can’t seem to get over them. I’ve always been like this. I think too much too. I’m just not very good at brushing things off, I guess.”
worst childhood memory?
“My dad leaving. I woke up on Christmas morning to find him gone… it was pretty devastating, yeah.”
what is your biggest regret?
“Probably the school thing again… might miss out on my dream job because of it.”
