Psych Terminology: Words that begin with Schizo-

Schizophrenia - severe psychotic disorder that causes alterations in perceptions, thought, and behavior. This is the word you probably mean, as it’s the most commonly used.

Schizophreniform - a psychotic disorder that’s basically schizophrenia-lite. Not as many symptoms required, and you can’t have had it for more than 6 months.

Schizoaffective - basically schizophrenia AND a mood disorder (depressive / manic or hypomanic episodes) at the same time.

Schizotypal (Personality Disorder) - a personality disorder that involves difficulties with social interactions and odd & eccentric beliefs and behaviors. 

Schizoid (Personality Disorder) - a personality disorder that involves being detached from and lacking a desire for social relationships. 

None of these words mean having “split” or “multiple” personalities. That’s dissociative identity disorder.

The Glamorization of Opioids

On Tumblr a lot of us are guilty of glamorizing the opioid lifestyle.

What we don’t show is walking to the sketchiest part of town in the middle of the night to get a fix.

What we don’t show is the gut-wrenching withdrawals.

What we don’t show is how you can end up penniless because of them.

We don’t show the damage that they do to our relationships.

We don’t show you the things that we said we would never do but end up doing to get a fix.

I went from weekend warrior, to a crushingly expensive daily addiction, to banging untested research chemical opioids and I write this in the throes of withdrawal.

If you’ve ever seen that scene in Requiem for a Dream where Marion’s having a panic attack going through her washroom cupboard taking any pill she can find and chugging down whatever cough syrup is around - that’s VERY fucking real.

Nothing on my blog is there to encourage opioid use, I simply collect images that appeal to me.

If you’re thinking of trying opioids/opiates and you want my advice, here it is, “don’t”

There’s no telling how much you’ll like that first oxy, or that fifth.

Learn from my mistakes. Being a junkie isn’t cool.

Fun FMA manga fact:

This isn’t mentioned in Brotherhood, but the reason Roy and Riza came to Resembool scouting out the Elrics is because someone fucked up the ages on Ed and Al’s file.

Literally Roy and Riza are riding in the back of some horse-drawn carriage into Resembool chatting with the driver like “yes we’ve heard rumors of two alchemist brothers here, Ed and Al Elric ages 31 and 30 respectively. Do you know where they live?” And the driver pretty much answers with “lol what? Those kids are like 10.”

Except now Roy and Riza are already THERE so they decide “Fuck it. Let’s pay a visit anyway.”

So everything that went down in the series is thanks to some mysterious fuck up in the Amestrian Intelligence Department and I salute that person.
