The great thing about endurance training rides is that there are no places! No one can come first or last! It's about how well your horse vets through, it's about how low their heart rate is, how fit their are to continue working. Everyone gets the same ribbons/trophies depending on the distance you do.. Idk.. I think it kinda looks like him 😝

This lil guy is the definition of bombproof!! He doesn't even blink when people speed past us! Quick 10km training ride, he was really well behaved even though we ended up getting home in the dark.. love this lil dude😍

When training your endurance nag, make sure you desensitise them to all the sights they may see on the trail - including but not limited to loud kids on push bikes 😂

How to train two horses with only one rider: my life story. I've been riding Mojo and ponying Avril on a lunge line beside us. Today we did 12kms and worked on avril just giving us some space.

Number 4732 on the list of great things about endurance: camping out with your horses.

Before I was lucky enough to have my horses living at home with me, I looked forward to going out on big rides because it meant getting there the night before, setting up temporary pens and being able to go to sleep to the sound of our horses munching their way through their hay.

Even now, it’s still a treat. There’s something about being able to take them away with you.

wait what did George Morris do? He always came off as overly traditional and a bit stodgy but not anything too ridiculous (or alt-right like CA and RG)?

He’s notorious for verbally abusing riders in his clinics, in particular for calling people fat. There are innumerable accounts of him making sexist comments, criticizing people for their dress, telling them to lose weight, etc. I know there’s always a He Said She Said thing with how trainers and clinicians act but everyone and their cousin has a story about some shit thing GM did or said. And we’re not talking ‘he’s kind of tough but fair!’, we’re talking ‘a rider fell off and broke their ribs and he insulted them’, or ‘he insulted a rider who had just given birth to twins and still had baby weight’ or ‘he contributed to a culture of emphasizing thinness over fitness/health and young girls and women don’t fucking need another old white guy with no health-related qualifications telling them that they need to lose weight’. I don’t think his horsemanship can be doubted but again 0 tolerance lol. No amount of skill and experience gives you the right to treat people like shit.

One of my closest endurance rides is the clarencetown Club ride, offering 20, 40, 80 and 120km rides in the one weekend. Such beautiful, scenic trails and a wonderful endurance club👌🏼
