It’s so sad that this is something that needs to be spread around.
here’s the full link if you need it please stay safe
It’s so fucking sad that I have to reblog this shit. Y'all please be safe.
This article is outdated and has quite a bit of misinformation. I’ve listed updates and clarifications below. I recommend to everyone that you look into CPR/first aid classes via the American Heart Association, Red Cross, or Starguard/ASHII. Some areas offer free CPR classes that aren’t a full certification, but it’s better than no knowledge.
There are some first aid updates/misinformation to note:
Going clockwise- Image one: don’t force a victim to sit up. They could faint at any moment and sustain further injury, and you should be treating them for shock because of blood loss. They should be rolled onto their side, the leg isn’t specific anymore because it wastes too much time. This will help the blood drain naturally from the mouth and prevent aspiration on blood/vomit. Try to cover their body with a blanket or other means to keep them warm. if that artery is nicked you want to apply as much pressure as possible without suffocating the victim. When something has soaked through, DO NOT remove it. Stack absorbant material so you don’t disturb clotting. Treat for shock by laying the victim down and covering them/keeping them warm.
Image 2: always check for an exit would. If there is an entry and exit, seal one completely, and control the bleeding on the other. while taking spinal injury into account, you also need to think about life over limb. In first responder/CPR/first aid classes as of the 2015 update we’ve been taught that a majority of the spinal damage has occured in the original spinal injury, and that it’s more effective to prioritize victim safety.
Image 3: there’s not much you can do for this outside of immediate medical attention, and the moist soft dressings covering the organs exposed. If there are organs coming out, DO NOT PUSH THEM BACK IN. Treat for shock and control bleeding.
Image 4: as of the 2015 update elevation/pressure on artery is not recommended. You should treat bleeding with direct pressure on wound. DO NOT TOURNIQUET. If the area is rapidly swelling treat for shock.
Call emergency services IMMEDIATELY in case of a severe wound like the ones mentioned above.
Perform CPR if a victim is not breathing AND does not have a pulse. Rescue breaths otherwise. Do not perform CPR if you are not trained. You need to be aware of ratios, chest depths, and other factors that go into it. CPR’s function is to break someone’s ribs in order to compress their heart for them to keep blood pumping until better services arive. There generally is no miracle victim waking up after a couple rounds of chest compressions. You need to know what you’re doing.
Please boost! I want people to have the right info.
