I write for the following characters:
Neteyam
IโM BAAAAACK!!!!! I am currently taking requests for The Amazing Digital Circus works. Please check out my account for submission specifics and rules.
I was wondering if you could do Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes one shot where Mae and Noa are sitting by a fire in a cave, like you know how some movies do like silhouette scenes where the light shines on them but you can only see their silhouettes and they're talking very softly I'm not really sure you can come up with something maybe it's something serious or like something touching or heartwarming. But I always imagine they would be tired and like exhausted or something or emotionally or physically but they're like getting closer to each other I mean they're Bond or something which eventually mae fall asleep on him and he feels all awkward X3
Okay, I'm being so serious right now what I say that I LOVE THIS REQUEST!! So frickin' wholesome and cute. I'm usually one to go into serious and darker content, but I couldn't miss the opportunity to write some fluff. I had a lot of fun writing this. I hope you have just as much fun reading the finished product :) :)
Signs of Constant (Noa/Mae)
Synopsis: A quiet night by the fire leads to sharing the beauties of two different world.
(This story is unedited. Edits will be conducted at a later date).
In the serene warmth of the fire in front of him, Noa observed Mae.
He studied her face like it was the last time heโd see it. And it very well could be; sheโd been gone for two springs, off with who he assumed to be a group of intelligent ech- humans- so who knew how long sheโd be gone for next time. When Anaya alerted him of her presence, Noa had felt this warm wave in his gut that pushed him to see her without a second thought. ย
Through the limited lighting of the dancing flames, Noa took in her every feature.
Noa could see a faint scar on the bottom right side of her chin, one that hadnโt been there the last time she was around. Her hair looked different too. Darker? No, it was just the night. It did look shorter, but only slightly. It was still in that lose braid he last saw her with.
Something that hadnโt changed, however, was her eyes. Even with hues of orange engulfing the small cave the two were huddled in, its raging colors were no match against the cerulean shade in her eyes. Even before the two were formally introduced heโd first noticed the striking color, a color that shood out against the earthy browns and greens of his clan. They somehow seemed to shine brighter on the night.
As if reading his mind, Mae blinked in his direction. She smirked slyly as Noa quickly looked down at his lap. โGotcha,โ she teased lightly.
Noa silently prayed his dark pelt could hide whatever heat was radiating off his face. He turned to look behind him, instead focusing on the massive silhouettes on the rocky backdrop. It was clear enough the height difference between the two, but the fire only made it more obvious- almost monstrous.
An ape and a human. Two different species, two different worlds. Different ways of life and how they think the world should work. And yet they were at peace with one another. ย It shouldnโt be possible, and yet here they were, sharing a fire.
Mae follows Noaโs field of sight. She watches the shadows behind them bounce across the rock wall. Noa side eyed her. A smile began creeping upon her face.
โMy mom always did this when we had a fire,โ Mae explained as eh shuffled herself to turn around, her back facing the fire. โYou can tell stories with the fire.โ
The put her hands up and together. She stacked her thumbs on top of each other and made a slight cup with her hands. She displayed it in front of the fire, andโฆ
โItโs a bird,โ Mae moved her hands in a fluid motion as if the creature was in flight. Noa couldnโtโ hide the amused chortle, only making the girlโs smirk grow into a toothy smile. Noa could feel a quickening sensation in his heart. Her eyes seemed to shine brighter through her smile- brighter than the flames in the pitch black night- because of her smile.
Mae changed her hands to form a new shape. This beast had a snout similar to that of a boar, but without jagged teeth or short, flappy ears- whereas this thingโs ears stood at attention. โItโs a dog.โ
Noa gave her a confused glance. Mae put her hands down immediately after.
โThe handsโฆ are like sign.โ
โI donโt know sign.โ
Noa twisted his whole body to fully face Mae and she silently did the same. He put up one hand and took a deep breath before slowly twisting his fingers into different shapes. Heโd tuck a finger into his parm or point to the side. He took a moment before moving onto each letter to let Mae absorb what she was seeing.
โFire,โ he whispered. Mae looked at her own hand. She glanced up at Noaโs hand and back down at hers before trying for herself. Noa watched the girl tale her time forming each character. When sheโd make a mistake, he repeated the sign until sheโd get it right.
Noa released a breath he didnโt know he was holding. He softly smirked. There was so much to learn from one another. So much to teach as well, it seemed.
Mae looked outside past the fire. The only thing visible in the dead of night was the celestial body of stars. It was a constant in this rapidly changing world. Noa found reassurance that, no matter what happened, he could as least look up each night and find that the stars hadnโt left him.
Noa signed without looking away from the girl. โStars,โ he murmured. She followed quickly in suit and mirrored his gestured. โStars,โ she mimicked quietly.
The ape nodded in approval. He raised his hand one more time, this time spelling out each word as he shaped it.
He tucked his thumb between his pinkie and ring finger. โM.โ
Made a fist but being sure to keep his thumb exposed. โA.โ
Noaโs fingers touched each other tightly and sat atop his thumb.
Mae beat him to finish the word.
โE.โ
The two watched one another carefully. The silence that once brought Noa comfort now made him feel awkward, almost uneasy. Whereas Noa would stare at Mae, it seemed that she was doing it to him- thinking to herself, forming possible judgments. What did she see that he couldnโt?
The intensity in her glare suddenly shifted and her she relaxed her shoulders. Mae squeezed her eyes shut and dipped her head. She stretched out her arms and yawned. Before Noa could register what was happening, Mae leaned closer to him, resting her head against his shoulder.
Noa stiffened like a board. He heard his breath and eyed the fragile girl (though she was far from fragile outside of the physical scene). The fire was beginning to die down. Even so, Mae still did not shiver against Noaโs body.
He waited a minute, two, ten before settling on the idea that sheโd fallen asleep. He tilted his head to catch a glimpse of her peacefully slumbering form. ย The young ape felt truly honored to feel trusted with this precious girlโs life in such a vulnerable state.
Noa was just about to allow himself sleep when he heard a tiny voice against him:
Wow. This is it. This is the final installment to (what I wasnโt expecting to be a series) Tiny Hands. Thank you to the original requester (who submitted their request anonymous) for giving me my kickstart on this platform. Thank you to all of the readers for your funny comments that pushed me to continue writing. I cannot wait to show you what else I have in store. So (will a word count well over my expectations) I present to you TINY HANDS PART III
Tiny Hands (Neteyam x Fem! Human Reader) Part III
Synopsis: One life ends. Another begins.
(This story is unedited. Edits will be conducted at a later time).
Neteyam wakes in the middle of the night without Y/N at his side.
The first thing that hit him was confusion. He figured she had just scurried off to check her Avatar body (like it had just woken up and walked away, which of course wasnโt possible). Nothing to worry about. He mentally shrugged to himself, before snuggling deeper into the mattress and closing his eyes.
The next thing was fear. Neteyamโs ears perked up towards the bathroom door when he heard light sniffling on the other side. He sat up, giving himself a second to catch himself before he heard a quiet sob. Without even thinking, the boy leapt from his spot, tossing the blanket too small for his frame aside and almost slamming into the door. It was locked.
โY/N?โ He croaked, hating how weak his voice sounded. He knocked on the door a few times as he rested his head against the door. โY/N, are you alright?โ
The soft crying sounds stopped, but he got no answer. He knocked again. โY/N?โ
โI-Iโm okay.โ
Relief. He sighed, letting his forehead laze on the door. โPlease, let me see you.โ
Neteyam listened for the sound of her breathing. It sounded more like hiccups. She didnโt open the door for a few minutes, but when he heard the lock click, Neteyam wasted no time as he slammed the door opened, looking for his Y/N.
What he saw shattered his heart. Y/N was hovering over the sink, her hands covering her trembling lips that threatened to let out more sobs. Her eyebrows danced up and down as they scrunched together, tears staining her already deathly pale skin.
God, she looked terrible.
โOh Y/Nโฆโ Neteyam stepped closer, kneeling down to her level and letting her collapse into him. She wrapped her bony arms around his broad shoulders, resting her head into the crook of his neck as she continued her bout of crying. Neteyam held the girl close, resting his head on top of hers as he sent her soothing shushes and back rubs. He tried to tell her the things she loved to hear- โItโs okayโ, โMaway (BE CALM)โ, โIโm right hereโ- the things that settled her down. But the frantic huffing did not stop.
Neteyam forced Y/N to pry her arms from around his neck, He cupped her face in his hands, brushing away the tears from her red cheeks. โTell me. Tell me what is going on.โ
Y/N shook her head, trying to hide her face with her hands, though Neteyam was quick to peel them away, squeezing them around his own. โNete, I-I-I canโt do it.โ
โDo what?โ
Y/N waved her arms around her in a flustered frenzy. โThis whole thing is just becoming too much. I-I canโt think straight.โ She turned towards the mirror, cringing at the red puffy skin circling her glassy eyes. Neteyam stared at her reflection, noticing how even kneeling his forehead reached past the view of the glass. He studied the girl not even half his size here to him, the girl he promised to protect for as long as she had lived.
In this life, or another.
In this body, or another.
It no longer mattered to him.
Neteyam cleared his throat, watching Y/N wipe her nose. All this time, sheโd been persistent about seeing this thing through and joining The People as full Naโvi. She never showed any sign of doubt or weakness, even throughout all of the needles and painful reactions to medications Neteyam could never pronounce correctly. But now, finally, after all this time, she allowed herself to share with her lover what he always knew was there.
โI can promise you sheโs more scared than she lets on. She needs someone to be there for her.โ
Neteyam rested his head on Y/Nโs chest, her heartbeat settling, but only slightly. โWhat worries you? Why now?โ
Y/N played with Neteyamโs hands, measuring the length from her wrist to the tip of their middle fingers. Neteyam grinned lightly at her childish toying. โYou were right.โ
โWhat do you mean?โ
Y/N looked away from her reflection with a scowl. โPeople havenโt come back in the past. Iโm just worried thatโll happen to me too.โ
Neteyam sighed heavily through his nose, nodding with understanding. He wondered what his father was thinking his last night as a human. Knowing that everything you knew about yourself and your lifestyle would be forever and irreversibly changed. Knowing that it could kill him. There were no takebacks with this.
โI do not believe Eywa brought us together just to take you away from me,โ Neteyam reassured.
Y/N dropped her hands to her side, her crying subsided. She leaned more into Neteyamโs body with a weak yawn, and he took that as his signal to head back to bed.
There was no way for Neteyam to reassure Y/N. There was nothing he could say or do to prove to her that she would be his no matter what happened. At the end of the day, it was them against the world.
When the two settled in bed, Neteyam tucked a loose strand of Y/Nโs hair from her face, looking deep into her still somewhat teary eyes. She stared at him with an intensity that had his heart fluttering.
โTry and get some sleep,โ he whispered, planting a featherlike kiss on her forehead. She says something thatโs muffled by her pillow.
She does sleep that night.
Neteyam doesnโt, waiting for her to wake up crying again with his arms ready to reach out and cradle her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
โYouโre telling me youโve never danced before?โ
โOf course I have,โ Neteyam says, taking a quick huff from his mask before stretching by the window. The day was early, the sun just barely reaching past the mighty trees of Pandora, but high enough to shine through the lab.
Y/N rolled her eyes from her spot on the mattress. โYeah, but not like that.โ She points to the television, where a black and white film was playing. Neither of them was really watching it; the background audio was just an easy way to fix the thick tension and fear in the air. A human man and women stood underneath a lamp post in the pouring rain, hands interlocked and swaying to a light cello melody in the night.
Neteyam scratched the back of his neck, bringing her a small steaming portion of chowder. It was the only food Y/N could keep down lately, much to the girlโs distaste. She stuck her tongue out as he sat next to her, handing her the bowl. He nudged her, encouraging her to take a bite.
โLast time I have to eat this crap,โ Y/N huffed, scooping herself a pitiful amount and trying her best not to make a crunchy face at the bland flavors. โNo, but seriously. Thatโs just sad.โ
โWhat? The food or my lack of human dance knowledge?โ
โBoth.โ
Neteyam chuckled, focusing on the two Sky People. The television was fuzzy and jittered every few seconds, but he could made out the particular choreograph, gliding to the side, watching for each otherโs shoes. The womenโs head rested on her manโs shoulders, letting him hold one of her hands while the other rested on her back.
The Naโvi boy stood up, holding a hand out to Y/N. She sat back, tilting her head as he stepped in front of the screen.
โDance with me.โ
โWhat?โ She giggled with a mouthful of chowder. Nevertheless, she set her bowl aside, taking his hand and standing up. Her legs gave out on her, and with a โWhoop!โ, she came tumbling down, not before Neteyam studied her, helping her regain her balance. He looked at the T.V. once more, watching the pattern the actorโs set themselves on with their foot placement.
Neteyam lifted the girl off the ground, letting her wrap her arms as tight as she could around his neck as he set his arms across her back. He took slow steps, feeling her feet brush against his knees with each step. Y/N sighed into Neteyamโs body, letting herself go limp in his hold.
God, he would miss this. Holding her close like this, her itty-bitty body against his large frame.
Y/N hummed along to the tune, a tune Neteyam was not yet familiar with. It wasnโt like any of the instruments they had back at home, nor was it as feverish or fast-paced. It made swaying to the song chords feel like floating in water. Effortless and natural. It soothed the young coupleโs hearts.
Neteyam and Y/N kept this up even after the movie finished, when the main menu song would loop itself every twenty seconds. Eventually that shut itself off too, leaving the only sounds in the room being Neteyamโs light footsteps and the twoโs rhythmed breathing.
Y/N tightened her hold around Neteyam. โYou know I love you, right?โ
Neteyamโs heart fluttered, and he could hear his tail tap against the mattress at he continued dancing. โYes.โ
โI just wanted to remind you.โ
He pulled away from the girl, bending down to her level to cup her face in his hands. She looked unnervingly dull, trying her best to give him a smile but failing miserably.
โYouโre going to be okay,โ he reassured her (and himself). โI know it.โ
All she could do was nod. ย
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The night had come.
Jake walked in front, forming a path for Neteyam as he carried Y/N bridal style close to his chest. She shyly kept her face hidden; her bare body being just barely covered up with vines from the woods. She was quiet the entire trip leaving the lab, through the Omaticaya village, and to the base of the Tree of Souls. Jake approached the roots of the grand tree first, carrying Y/Nโs limp Avatar body in his own arms, gently placing the lifeless body on the ground.
He turned to his son with a firm nod, stepping aside as Moโat came into view, watching Neteyam hesitantly set Y/N down. For a moment, she didnโt release her hold around his neck.
โWoah,โ she whispered to herself, looking at the massive crowd behind Neteyam. The entire clan was sit cross crossed on the mossy landscape. Neteyam didnโt bother looking, prying her fingers apart and off of his back. She tried to sit up until Moโat placed a light hand on her shoulder, a gentle demand to lay down. Neteyam watched fog begin to build up in her mask as she breaths became heavier and erratic.
He pet her hair, leaning close to her ear so that only she could hear him. โI love you so much Y/N. I am so proud of you.โ
She chuckled nervously, reaching a trembling hand and grasping ahold oh his. He held her tiny hands in his large ones, holding them tight with a weak smile. He needed to be strong for her.
Strong heart.
No fear.
โYou will sleep now,โ Moโat announced, and on cue, Y/Nโs eyelids grew heavier. At first, she tried to fight it, but Neteyam cupped a hand to her cheek, still holding one of her hands in his.
โSee you in a minute,โ he promised.
It looked like Y/N wanted to say something to him, but she never got that chance before letting her eyes shut and her body fall asleep.
Neteyam held his breath now, allowing himself to succumb to the fears that heโd been trying to hide from Y/N for years now.
It was all in Eywaโs hands now.
โTing mikun ayoheru rutze,โ Moโat began as The People swayed in unison. Everyone rested a hand on each otherโs shoulders as the ground began pulsating to a beat, almost like a heartbeat.
โSrung si poeru, Ma Eywa,โ the clan spoke together. The bioluminescent ground beneath them rippled to the base of the Spirit Tree. Spider watched from afar, as he was not allowed to partake in the sacred event, keeping to himself as she silently sent prayers for his sister.
Neteyam continued to kneel by her side, mumbling to Eywa as he wished for his lover to come back to him. He watched with teary eyes as both Y/nโs human and Avatar bodies lay unconscious. A lit of undergrowth rose from the ground, connecting to the back of both vesselโs necks.
To most all around him, Neteyam was extremely calm. Though Jake and Neytiri could see the boyโs face, and they too began to fear not only for Y/N but for their son.
They knew that, if he didnโt have Y/N, their son would be gone forever.
What if this was the last time he got to see her beautiful eyes?
What if he could never show her the true wonders of Pandora? Never see their secret world in the floating mountains, to show her how to fly her own Ikran, to never watch her eyes light up as she connected to the Tree of Souls for the first time.
He wouldnโt be able to live with himself.
And Neytiri understood every single thing he was feeling.
โPori tireati, munge mรญ ngaiโ Moโat continued, waving her hands over Y/Nโs human body and dancing them to the Avatar body a few steps to the left.
The clan continued to repeat themselves, much louder this time in hopes their words could be heard by their goddess. โSrung si poeru, Ma Eywa!โ
Netyeam could feel himself breaking out in a nervous sweat, tightening his grip on her hand when he felt her fingers twitch ever so slightly.
โUlte ting ayoer niโeyng ngeyรค ya! Tiviran po ayoekip! NA NAโVIYร HAPXI!โ Neteyamโs grandmother stood over Y/Nโs still Avatar body. Neteyam rested his forehead on the small hand he held, forcing his eyes closed in hopes of calming his pounding heartbeat.
Moโatโs eyes rolled into the back of her head as she lowered his voice, โEo Eywa oeโia. Eo Eywa oeโia. Eo Eywa oeโia.โ
โCome on Y/N,โ he whined gently. โCome back to me.โ
He felt her hand go slack under his grip. He straightened his back, snapping his eyes shut. He saw how her chest stilled and the muscles in her body relaxed completely. Under less tense circumstances, he wouldโve melted at how peaceful and innocent she looked.
But he wanted nothing more for her to wake up.
He shot a panicked face to Moโat, who instantly snapped out of her trance, directing her calls of action to the clan before her, โLu hasey!โ
It was done.
All he could do was wait.
Jake was up in an instant, followed quickly by Neytiri, who placed a supportive hand on his shoulder. She felt like this was a sick joke, watching her son in the same stop she was all those years ago when it was her love. Everyone watched as the young to-be Oloโeyktan remove the human girlโs breathing mask, the seal going off with a sharp hiss and placing it aside. He connected his forehead to hers, already feeling how clammy her skin was. He placed his free hand on her face, a hand that was the size of her entire head.
Jake watched his eldest son give one last squeeze to Y/Nโs hand before moving to the Avatar body on his left, positioning himself in the same spot next to her, reaching for a much larger, blue hand. It fell limp in his hold.
This was the first time heโd seen her Avatar body so close. His heart settled slightly when he saw the mole that had made if from her human body to her Avatar body. He placed a kiss on one of her cheeks, tilting his head as tears began to build in his eyes again. It blurred his vision, and he didnโt care that his family could now see that.
โHey,โ Neteyam spoke to the girl that couldnโt hear him. โCome back to me, Y/N. Everybody wants to meet you.โ
Neytiri smiled at the boyโs words, beginning to hope herself to the new member to the clan to wake up.
Jake knew of the debilitating journey that was passing through the eyes of Eywa, but he would be there to welcome you with open arms, when you were ready.
And, after a few more minutes, it happened.
Neteyam could feel her hand twitch in his.
She let out a light moan as her eyes moved underneath her eyelids.
Then they opened.
It wasnโt the traditional Naโvi yellow or tawny. No, they were hers. He sent a silent thanks to Norm and Max for letting her keep another part of her past body. It was the same sparkling E/C sheโd always had, and Neteyam couldnโt hide the light chuckle as he watched her eyes lazily wonder around her surroundings. She wiggled her feet and yawned, looking at her boyfriend.
โI told you everything would be okay,โ Neteyam smiled.
Y/Nโs eyebrows scrunched together as she slowly moved her head to look around. Neteyamโs heart skipped a beat; had she forgotten where she was? Who she was?
Y/N took a deep breath, but immediately, stopped, her eyes widening in a fierce panic as she slapped her hands to cover her nose and mouth.
Neteyam shook his head, trying ot take her hands away from her face. โHey her hey, itโs okay. Itโs okay. Breath.โ
She shook her head, her eyes meeting the blue skin of his handsโฆ or, her hands. She blinked once twice, three times, before pulling her hands away from her mouth. She gasped as she realized the large blue skin was now on her, apart of her, forever and always. Her mouth sat ajar, and Neteyam wasnโt sure what to do.
Jake could sense the nervous energy from his son, so he stepped closer. He crouched down next to his eldest son, giving a reassuring nod.
โHow do you feel,โ he asked.
Y/N looked into his eyes. They looked soft and inviting, and she looked over at Neytiri, she continued to receive welcoming smiles.
Though rumbly, Y/N gave him a light โI feel weird,โ, resulting in a gentle laugh from both Jake and Neytiri.
Neteyam leaned his forehead against hers, each closing their eyes. She could feel his warm breath on her face, letting herself sink into his touch. โIโm so proud of you,โ he told her.
That night, the Omaticaya people celebrated. They had a feast, crafting mouthwatering dishes for their blessing from Eywa herself, dancing to traditional songs into the night. Tuk dragged the girl around, showing her off to the tribe and bragging about how sheโd braded the new clam mateโs hair shortly after her ceremony (the braids were terribly uneven, so Neytiri had to pull her aside and do them when her daughter wasnโt looking). Kiri and Loโak bickered when they tried to find the โperfectโ hammock for her to sleep in, but Neteyam silently know that theyโd be sharing a space tonight. Spider couldnโt stay long, but he congratulated his older sister on her successful soul transfer.
Towards the end of the celebration, Neteyam and Y/N slipped away from the shriveling crowd. ย They raced into the night sky, replaying the same motions that occurred all those years ago.
โGod, Iโll never get over this,โ Y/N huffed from behind Neteyam, clinging to him with a vice-like grip.
Neteyam shrugged teasingly. โYouโre going to have to soon. You will need to get your own Ikran now that youโre Naโvi.โ
โWhy would I do that when I have you to fly me around?โ
He turned to shot a playful grin, but caught himself when he looked into her eyes. Her braids thrashed in the wind as she kept her eyes sealed shut, though creasing her eyebrows at the sudden shift in Neteyamโs posture. He finally got a good look at her freckles, which were lighting up the night. The pattern rested mostly on her forehead, with only a few scattered along the bridge of her nose. There were even less on her cheeks, but her bright eyes made up for that. They were new and different compared to the standard Naโvi, and it made the girl all the more precious to Neteyam.
They landed gently on their secret floating rock, Neteyam hopping off first, reaching out to Y/N, only for her to scoot off the flying creature and stepping onto the ground by herself. She huffed before stretching, letting her bare feet graze the soft landscape. He watched her, only just noticing how he barely had to look down at her. Just this morning he was about at his hip height wise, but now he was maybe half a foot taller.
She met his eyes with a quick smile before taking the lead. โMan, Iโve missed this place.โ
Neteyam hummed in agreement. He would never admit it, but he hadnโt returned since sheโd gotten sick. It just didnโt sit right with him to savor this wondrous getaway while his other half was withering away, curled in pain in her dark and lonely bedroom.
She ducked over hanging branched, skipping through the feet as the world lit up with each step. She lightly brushed her fingertips against dense foliage, getting used to the way her arms stretched further than she was used to. She looked back at Neteyam with a wide smile, her shiny white fangs revealing themselves.
He quickened his pace, grabbing a hold of her tail and lightly tugging it, causing the girl to stop in her place and instinctively slap he boy on the arm. Neteyam gave a face pouty face, Y/N sticking his tongue out as she dashed into the night. For only being in her new body for a few hours, she was quickly getting the hand of it. Even Jake commented on it earlier, watching Loโak and her chase each other through the campgrounds like raging lunatics.
โJesus, and I thought Loโakโs energy was enough,โ he joked as he walked to bed with his mate. โThat boyโs got his hands full with that one.โ
When Y/Nโs lungs could no longer keep up, she hunched over a familiar pond, resting her hands on her knees as she took deep breaths. Neteyam, who would run for many more miles, stopped at her side, grinning at the already exhausted girl.
โMy feet hurt,โ she spoke in between breaths.
โYour body is still like a baby. You need to take it easy.โ
Y/N rolled her eyes, straightening herself out. She collected her breathing with a weak chuckle, feeling her heartbeat relax.
But it quickly sped up again. The deep intensity in Neteyamโs narrowed eyes made the air feel thicker. He moved closer, their chests almost brushing against each other as she planted both of his hands on her waist. She reached around him, putting her head on his chest. His heartbeat was going the same speed at hers.
โY/N,โ he whispered her name like it was a secret. Her knees practically went weak from underneath her.
โNeteyam.โ
Thenโฆ she started swaying?
She moved her head up, forgetting how much taller she was now and almost whacking his chin, His freckles doing a terrible job at hiding the light blush developing up his neck and to his cheeks. Y/N used every fiber in her body to lock her eyes on his mesmerizing eyes and not down at his lips, which were slightly agape.
The two began stepping every few seconds, Y/N still unsure of what was happening.
Neteyamโs chest rumbled against Y/N as he began humming a tune, and then it hit her like a train.
It was the same song from the movie this morning. Of the two people slow dancing into the night, bathed in light as they embraced in one of the most intimate forms of love.
Y/N gave Neteyam a goofy, toothy grin, letting herself pick up on the tune. She accidentally stepped on the taller manโs toes with a quick apology, which he didnโt even adnowledge. He removed one hand from her hip, placing a tender brush of his palm against her cheek. The two stared at each other, a newfound appreciation and respect for one another.
After all theyโd been through, they finally made it.
After many nights of tears, pain, uncertainty, the two young Naโvi never crumbled under pressure.
They two could now live comfortably as one, just as Eywa had planned all along.
Neteyam planted a soft kiss on Y/Nโs lips. It was delicate, like an insectโs wings, and they sat there just long enough to feel her warm skin against his. Between the two, kissing was their way of showing gratitude, respect, appreciation. From light pecks on the forehead every morning to more intense, intimate touching, the vulnerability the two shared with each other was a sensuous joining of souls, regardless of which body they housed.
Y/N pulled away first, flashing an innocent smile with wide eyes. โOel ngati kameie, Neteyam.โ
He breathed out, resting his forehead against hers as they continued swaying in a sloppy rhythm. The Pandorian wildlife was their personal symphony, playing the two lovebirds a one-of-a-kind tune. He rested his hands behind her back, just under her braided queue.
For the first night in years, Neteyam could finally breathe. Here, in this moment, on this perfect night, he had the most incredible women in his arms. He though about this night for many, many eclipses, wondering if theyโd even make it this far. There were too many nights where he couldnโt sleep, only focusing on the frail human girlโs lumber some breathing. For the longest time, she couldnโt even walk out of her room without stopping to breathe, leaning against the doorframe as Neteyam rushed to her side to return her back to bed.
But now, she was here, standing on her own two feet, in this body much stronger than she ever was. She took in the air around her with no effort, no more tears of pain or fear of not waking up to see the next day. She was here, she was beautiful, she was alive. With him.
And he would make sure to keep it that way for as long as they lived.

Part I (READ THIS FIRST!!) & PART III
Tiny Hands (Neteyam x Fem! Human Reader) Part II
Synopsis: It is almost time for Neteyam's girlfriend to become one of The People and join the Omaticaya tribe. But not all are ready to welcome her.
(This story is unedited. Edits will be conducted in the future).
Despite hating every second of it, Neteyam never left Y/Nโs side.
For three years, he watched Y/N slowly deteriorate in front of him. Her H/C locks were thinner than before and her once wide and sparkling eyes were now sunken in and tired. The testing had taken a tole on the young human girlโs already fragile body; there were so many needles involved that it made Neteyam was to stop the whole thing more than once.
โHold my hand, Y/N. Squeeze it as hard as you can,โ He encouraged her, brushing his thumb over her knuckles. Neteyam tried his hardest to focus on her strong grip or concentrate on her breathing and not the terrifyingly long syringe digging into his loverโs spine.
This was one of the more intense tests theyโd run. Norm said it was an unfortunate necessity in the early stages of constructing her Avatar body, since there werenโt the usual resources like back on Earth. The bone marrow extractions were the most excruciating, both for Y/N and Neteyam.
Y/N heaved for air as she laid on her stomach, keeping her head buried in her arm as she trembled in pain. She didnโt dare cry out in front of Neteyam, hoping to prove to him that she was strong enough. If she could get through this, surely she could make it through the body transformation.
โYouโre doing so good, just hold on. Almost done,โ Neteyam continued to reassure her, placing his free hand on her head to pet the lose, now slightly sweaty braids heโd made for her earlier that morning.
This had been going on for a little over three years now. The Sully children found out a long time ago about the procedure Y/N was planning on, and they were there every step of the way. Since she was too weak to make her usual trips to the Pandorian forest, each of the Sully kids made sure to bring a little bit of home to the girl in hopes of keeping her spirits up. Tuk was such a kind soul, bringing an aromatic flower to brighten the dimly lit lab. Kiri kept Y/N up to date on all of the news of the Omaticayan people, also being sure to bring some home-made removed to help her with joint sourness or her now frequent migraines. Y/N and Loโak had made it a daily ritual to do a puzzle whenever he came over (there was only one, but they added a challenge each time, such as flipping over the pieces or not using the picture for help). Spider tried to act like nothing was happening, internally disappointed that sheโd been approached about receiving an Avatar body before him, but wouldnโt show it.
Even Jake would come once in a blue moon, asking Norm and Max about the progress on the girlโs Avatar body. He would spare her the odd nod or wave here and there, but only because he couldnโt look at the sickly little girl. He couldnโt bear to face her skeletal figure. Whenever she was walking over to him, his eldest son was always close behind with an arm out in case she was to stumble. Jake couldnโt help but feel somewhat responsible he was the one that encouraged Neteyam to let her do this, after all.
One night, Y/N woke Netyeam up, tapping his arm that was tucked securely around her body. He watched her sit up with a confused and slightly concerned frown as she scooted to the edge of their now shared bed. Neteyam had been coming over every single night. Much to his surprise, his dad never said anything about, either because he didnโt know, or he just didnโt care.
The two walked barefoot to a dark room across the laboratory. Max told the two the room was strictly off limits. Neteyam chuckled lightly as he let Y/N drag her into the room. Her fingers wrapped around his, much bonier and jagged then just a few years ago. It was almost like he was holding someone elseโs hands.
The two made their way past Dr. Augustineโs amino tank and to a brand new one. Inside was someone Neteyam couldnโt recognize. Her short, jet-black hair was floating in a wide spread in the light blue suspension fluid around her, her fingers twitching every so often. Her eyelids were shut tight, and as Neteyam studied the girlโs face closer, his heart began to studder.
A light mole just above her collarbone, the same one on Y/Nโs neck, made Neteyamโs eyes widen. He continued to look at the lifeless Avatar body, leaning closer to the glass as he spotted more signs of the human girl at his side. A scar about an inch long on her hip when sheโd accidentally nicked herself with her knife as a child. The birthmark on the bottom of her left foot that looked like what Y/N called a turtle.
Y/N leaned on Neteyamโs arm, grinning at his stunned expression. โThatโs me,โ she whispered. He turned to his women, his best friend, his everything. She looked so certain of everything in this moment, staring with a confident smirk at what she would soon become. Y/N was looking directly at her future, and then she craned her head up to look at Neteyam.
โYou okay?โ
Neteyam took in a deep huff of air from his specially made exopack mask. He knelt down, wrapping his arms tightly around Y/N, who giggled. โCanโt wait for when you donโt have to kneel for me,โ Y/N twirled Neteyamโs braids, hearing his tail swish against the floor behind him. โYou wonโt be safe from my hugs.โ
He hummed- โI never was,โ- beginning to stand up and carry her sleepy form back to her room. Heโd done this before and would usually be met with harsh words about her not being a baby. But now-a-days, standing was sometimes too much of a struggle.
Before Neteyam turned down the hall, he caught one last glimpse of what will soon be Y/N.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
โMom, are you busy?โ
Neytiri turned to look at her son, immediately leaving her sorting to tend to her child. She could see how tired he looked, much more than usual. โAre you alright, my tรญrol? (SON)? Have you been sleeping alright?โ She rushed to his side, placing the back of her palm on his forehead.
Neteyam brushed her off with a soft smile. โYes, I have. I wanted to talk to you about something.โ
Tilting her head, Neytiri guided her eldest outside of their hut, and on his back as worry plagued her thoughts. Sheโd noticed how reserved Neteyam become over the past few years but chose not to poke and prod at it, figuring it was just him getting older. Thatโs not to say that it didnโt concern her, though.
Neytiri let her son lead her outside of their shared hut, careful not to wake the sleeping Tukโtirey. She settled down at the edge of the walkway, letting her dark blue skin bathe in the moonlight. She watched the boy stare off into the distance, his sweet freckles glowing like stars in the night sky.
Her eldest began combing his fingers through the roots of his hair and drag down through his braids, toying with the decorative beads at the bottoms. Neytiri reached over and tenderly held his hands in hers. โWhat is wrong, my son?โ She asked with a kind smile.
Neteyam chewed at his bottom lip, bowing his head down like he was almost afraid to look at her. โMother, it is about Y/N.โ
His mother blinked, relaxing her shoulders slightly. To know that his son wasnโt in any danger eased her heart tremendously.
When his mother didnโt respond, Neteyam cleared his throat before continuing. โSheโs going to be getting an Avatar body soon. I was hoping you would attend-โ
โNo,โ Neytiri snapped, cutting her son off as she lifted her hand up. The boy held his tongue, hearing his heart pound in his ears. โYou cannot ask this. I will not stand near that child.โ
โBut mother-โ
โShe is the spawn of a demon,โ Neytiri reminded her son with a hiss, getting up from her spot and turning to leave him.
Neteyam shook his head in defiance, looking out into the distance. He thought he could see Y/N and his special spot, many, many miles away, though he wasnโt certain with the thick fog of the night. โMother, she is trying to prove to you that she isnโt that man.โ
His mother turned to look at her son with a warning look, but he didnโt stop. โAll her life, Y/N has done nothing but try and try again to please you. You canโt look past a man she never got to know. That demon, he doesnโt exist in this world anymore. Why canโt you accept that?โ
โThat demon killed my father,โ Neytiri stepped into Neteyamโs face. The boy stood his ground, not blinking at his motherโs harsh tone. โHe murdered many of The People. Destroyed our home. It does not matter that she was a baby. She will forever be his daughter.โ
Neteyam searched his motherโs eyes. In those bright yellow hues, there was rage, sorrow, a craving for revenge. But, behind the thick river of emotion, he couldโve sworn he saw fear. He sighed, looking out towards the floating mountains in the distance once more. โFather was once one of them.โ
โHe never tried toโฆโ Neytiri turned away from her son. โYour father is a pure spirit,โ she whispered.
Neteyam nodded. โAs is Y/N. She came from bad people, yes. But she has shown many of times that she is not them. Why canโt you see that, too?โ
Neytiri felt her eyebrows droop. She watched her son step away, bowing his head like she was apologizing. He hated to cause her mother so much frustration, but he made a promise to stick by Y/Nโs side until the very end. Neytiri could see no lie in her son as he spoke so highly of the Sky People child.
It reminded her to her when she was younger, all those years ago, when she wouldโve killed one of her own for the sake of her mate. How she still would. She couldnโt help but smile at the thought of Jake.
โFine.โ
Neteyamโs ears flicked and he watched his mother leave with a stunned look on his face. โWe will prepare the ceremony.โ
He dipped his head out of respect, โThank you mother,โ as she left him standing outside. The moon hid behind a thick patch of fog, the plants down in the forest not being the only source of light in the night.
Neytiri stepped past her sleeping children, making her way to her Jake/ He was curled up beside Kiri, one arm lazily draped over her frame. His dreads were sprawled in all sorts of odd angles, and Neytiri planted a gentle kiss utop his forehead before laying beside him, trying to push her own worries aside as she fell asleep.
Later in the night, Neteyam returned to Y/Nโs room, the television running like it always did, even in the latest hours of the night. He carefully tucked her blanket around her skinny frame, brushing her hair away from her eyes as he turned whatever sheโd been watching off and settled next to her.
He reminded himself of the specific details on his loverโs body; every mole, freckle, scar. The way her fingers twitched in her sleep no matter what she was dreaming. The way one palms were so much softer than his calloused ones, almost like a newborn baby. Full of innocence.
Neteyam placed a hand on hers, a hand that extended up to her arm. He silently wished that tomorrow wouldnโt happen, that her hands would be this small forever. He would forever relish in these moments of silence, of tranquility, of peace.
Though, he knew, tomorrow would kill that silly little wish of his.
Be on the lookout for PART THREE (this I wrote too much for this, haha), COMING SOON!!
Hellooo can i request for a relationship where the reader is neteyam/loak's twin or just part of sullys family and she died instead of neteyam?
BUT I still enjoyed writing this, and I really appreciate you shooting me this request. I hope you like it :) :) PS-- I hope you're happy knowing that I maybe-kinda-sortova cried, haha!!ย
Ocean Breathes Salty (Sully Family / Daughter! Reader)
Synopsis: Sully's stick together. This is their biggest weakness... and also their greatest strength. (This story is unedited. Edits will be conducted at a later date.)
All her life, Y/N had caused trouble for her big brother.
It seemed like every other day her father was handing a stern scolding to Neteyam. And most oftentimes it wasnโt even his fault. It was stupid things like sneaking off into the night or digging her nose in places it didnโt belong. No matter what, Neteyam always got roped into it.
โWhat happened to keepinโ an eye on your sister?โ
โYouโre her big brother. You are in charge of her.โ
โIf she gets hurt, itโs on you.โ
And despite the fact that this happened again and again and again, Y/Nโs heart broke seeing her brother receive the harsh lashing from their father. His ears would flatten and heโs droop his head low, being sure to avoid the manโs gaze. The worst thing was that, right after, Neteyam wouldnโt say anything about it. Heโd accept it like the good little soldier his dad expected him to be, and she hated that.
And that didnโt mean that Y/N was safe from their fatherโs wrath.
โThat stunt you pulled back there? Stupid! Jesus, are you tryin' to get yourself killed?โ
Y/N mumbled a weak โNo sir.โ
โYouโre grounded. Youโre to stay here for the month, tend to the Ikran and the wounded. Got it?โ
The young girl put her hands behind her back, fidgeting with her fingers. She prayed her dad couldnโt detect her nervous energy.
Jake put a hand on her shoulder. โGot it?โ He asked again, this time raising his voice a few notches.
Y/N gave him a curt nod, sparing him a glance before stepping away from him. โYes sir.โ
There were many times where Neteyam took one for the team. It wasnโt just when Y/N got in trouble; Loโak was beginning to take after her adventurous, generally reckless behavior (much to their dadโs distaste).
But now, it was Y/Nโs turn.
She made sure Loโak and Spider had a clear opening before they jumped off the ship and into the slightly fridged water. There was still a RDA Avatar shooting at Neteyam and her as the two cowered closer into a corner of the ship. They were losing their window of escape.
โOkay, youโre turn!โ Neteyam shouted over the sound of bullets hitting their safe corner. Y/N shook her head, peeking around the corner to see if any of her shots resulted in a kill. A bullet zoomed past her ear and she shuffled back into her brother.
Y/N watched her brother with wide eyes as he took her hand in his.
She knew that, if they didnโt move now, theyโd be dead.
โMove, now!โ Neteyam yanked his sister forward, dragging her close behind him as they plunged into the water and to safety.
Something sharp slammed into Y/Nโs side. The shock of the impact was enough to cause her to gasp, involuntarily inhaling an alarming amount of water.
One thing Y/N had yet to get used to in their new home was how salty the ocean water was. It stung her eyes and something in her chest. She probably scrapped herself against some lose bits of metal from the ship. The unusual pain was making her chest tight, like someone was sitting on her, her breath threatening to fly out of her mouth at any second.
It was getting increasingly harder to keep afloat, and to make matters worse, the sea water was beginning to fill her lungs. There was a strange metallic taste building up in the back of her throat, too.
She could hear her brothers, Spider, and Tsireya cheering around her. High fives were being thrown around and shouts of celebration bounced off the water, but Y/N couldnโt bring herself to speak. She could haldy bring herself to breathe.
โY/N?โ Loโak asked somewhere in front of her.
She tried to look his direction but accidentally sunk down into the water, placing a hand on her chest where it hurt most.
Neteyam grabbed ahold of her before she could sink down any further, putting his hand where hers rested. โSheโs been shot!โ He shouted.
โShit!โ Loโak cursed, calling for his Ilu as everybody swam closer to the weak Y/N, all trying their hardest to keep her head above water. Nobody let go of her as they helped her on top of the sea creature. Uncontrollable coughs overcame the oldest Sully daughter as she was heaved up to rest in her older brotherโs arms. He wrapped one arm protectively across her shoulders, holding her close to his chest as he used his other hand to guide his Ilu forward, the other children holding onto the animalโs fins.
โDAD!โ Loโak cried out as the crew approached a patch of rocks. Out in the distance, Y/N could make out a familiar dark blue Naโvi. The sky was getting darker and flames were flickering an angry orange around her as the Ilu came to a stop. โDad, itโs Y/N. She got shot.โ
Neteyam scooted off the Ilu, requesting Y/N in his grip, The other children gathered around them, making sure none of her limp limbs got scratched by the rockโs jagged surface.
โOh no,โ she heard her dad choke, helping carry his now bloodied daughter to shore while reminded the children to watch for her head.
Y/N was placed gently on the ground before being picked up again by her father, who mumbled a tired curse to himself. He put her back down, reaching for his youngest son, โPressure! Apply pressure,โ and forcing his son to slam his hands onto her wound. She hissed in pain, moving to shove him off, but her father clasped onto both of her hands, rubbing her skin with frantic motions.
Somewhere behind her, Y/N would hear her mother screaming for her, but she was too tired to adnowledge her. โMomma-โ she whimpered, hacking even more than a few minutes ago.
Jake cupped her cheeks with his large hands, caressing her skin and whipping away tears she didnโt know she had.
โHey, itโs okay,โ he reassured. His voice was full of gentle sweetness, like the kind youโd give a child when they scraped their knee. Neytiri took her daughterโs hands, her wailing crumbling the young girlโs heart. It hurt almost as much as the bullet wound. โIโm right here baby.โ
โD-D-D-DadIโmscared-ughithurts-โ
โI know baby, I know, itโs okay. Iโm right here.โ
Y/N heaved deeper. She looked all around her, looking at the people that had protected her all her life. Her father, the strongest and most stoic man sheโd ever known, had tears welling in his eyes. He refused to let them spill in front of her.
Her mother, Neytiri, wasnโt holding back. She screamed for Eywa to keep her child alive, squeezing her hand in a vice-like grip that could shatter bones. Her bottom lip trembled and snot dripped out of her nose, the agony of losing her baby destroying the powerful women.
Loโak, her little bother, who refused to meet his sisterโs eyes, instead more focused on the crimson staining his skin. His whole body shook, stress and exhaustion making the usually sarcastic and joking boy uncharacteristically quiet.
And Neteyam, who watched from a distance with both hands on top of his head. He paced back and force, tugging lightly at one of the braids in his hair. Sheโd learned form an early age that it was one of his stressful ticks and hated herself for putting him through that. She wanted to reach out to him, but the entire world was becoming fuzzier by the second.
The cries of her mother were now inaudible.
Y/N tried to look into her fatherโs bright eyes, but couldnโt find them anymore.
Her chest rose sharply as she forced herself to take gulps of air. The last thing Y/N could hear was her fatherโs gentle cooing. โIโm not goinโ anywhere, itโs okay sweetie. Iโm right here.โ
Then there was nothing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A scream broke Jakeโs desperate words. At his side, his mate grasped ahold of Y/Nโs arm, shaking her body. Just a second ago, she was alive, looking at him, breathing the same air he was. Now, her eyes were unfocused. Her face relaxed and her chest fell.
โNo no no noโฆโ Jake mumbled, shoving his youngest son to the side as he braced his hands over his daughterโs chest. โCome on,โ he repeated, beginning to shove down hard overtop her heart. There was no reaction from Y/N as he counted to himself, 1-2-3-4, 1-2-3-4.
One, two, five, seven minutes went on, and each time, Jakeโs pleads became more and more strained, as did his attempts to resuscitate his daughter. โCome on, donโt do this to me. Wake up Y/N. COME ON!โ Eventually, he fell back, accepting defeat with an ear-piercing scream. He leaned into his wife, who was now lightly rocking her baby while continue to beg to a god who wouldnโt answer her prays.
Neteyam continued to just watch, sinking to his knees as he numbly stared at his sisterโs lifeless body.
The one time. The one time Neteyam couldnโt take the fall for his sister.

PART II & PART III
Tiny Hands (Neteyam x Fem! Human Reader)
Synopsis: Neteyamโs girlfriend has the opportunity to transfer into an Avatar body, and that terrifies him.
(This story is unedited. Edits will be conducted in the future).
Neteyam could never tell this family about Y/N.
Of course they knew she existed. She was Spiderโs older sister, after all, so it was only natural to see the two together. They and the Sully children had practically grown up together.
As the children got older, however, something changed in the way Neteyam saw Y/N. Somehow, the girlโs E/C eyes sparked more underneath her mask, and her wide smile when heโd tease her made his heart skip whole beats. For the longest time, the eldest of the Sully clan kept his true feelings to himself in fear of ruining his already perfect life with the human girl.
It was her that eventually confessed her feelings first, much to Neteyamโs relief. And he was more than excited when she asked to be his girlfriend, knowing what could happen if either sides of their people found out. So, for the past few months, the two were a secret couple. The two were careful to not stir any suspicion within the Omatikaya people, only sparing the occasional flirtatious grin or brushing their hands against each other.
At nighttime, however, when Neteyamโs family was fast asleep, the two were able to act as their true selves in freedom, without the fear of The Peopleโs judgement. At night, it was Neteyam and Y/N against the world.
โYou know I hate heights,โ Y/N mumbled from behind Neteyamโs back. Her body was pressed against his with tight arms around his waist. Neteyam chuckled, placing one hand on top of hers as he kept his Ikran steady in the air.
โDo you really think Iโm going to let you fall?โ
Neteyam could feel Y/Nโs head shake behind him, but her grip remained tight. He patted her arm, humming for her to hold on as he dipped the flying creature to land on a floating mountain.
It was their secret spot, theirs and theirs alone. Neteyam had found it while flying in patrol one evening, and the two had been going there almost every single night.
Neteyam hopped off his Ikran first, reaching behind him to help Y/N down. When she landed on the slightly dewy grass, it lit up with each step, a bioluminescent wonderland. It never failed to get the girl smirking, much to Neteyamโs amusement.
โHey,โ she whispered before stepping onto her tippy-toes, placing one of her hands on his cheek. He leaned into her touch, his tail beginning to sway side-to-side. He used to be embarrassed by it, but Y/N adored the cute little reaction. โI wanna talk to you about something.โ
Neteyam nodded, letting her lead him through the thicket and into a denser patch of forestland. The world around them was alive even at the darkest time of night. Eywa was truly wondrous.
She stopped in front of a little pond, sitting herself down and filling her toes carefully in the water, taking her time as she got used to the waterโs chilly temperature. As Neteyam moved to sit by her side, he couldnโt help by smile when he noticed the night difference. She was about the same height as Tuk, who was still a baby in his eyes. Y/N turned to face him as she noticed his staring.
โYou okay?โ
Neteyam gulped. โYes. What was it you wanted to talk to me about?โ
Y/Nโs shoulder slumped, looking down at the water. She swished her feet lazily, biting her bottom lip. Neteyam turned his body to face her, placing both hands on the sides of her mask and forcing her to face him. Her eyes glistened with a thin line of tears.
โWhatโs wrong?โ
Y/N shook her head, placing her hands on her mask to hide her now falling tears, thought it didnโt do much help. โDonโt be mad.โ
โWhy would I be mad? Tell me.โ
โI donโt know anymore.โ
โY/N, please tell me.โ
What was she so nervous to tell him? Did Y/N really not trust her?
His heart sank as she began explaining herself. โNorm and Max have been talking a bit aboutโฆ making me an Avatar body.โ
Neteyam froze, holding his breath. He pulled away from Y/N, even as she tried reaching for his embrace. โWhat?โ
โIt would take a while, years really. But I can finally be Naโvi. I can breathe the same are as you, get my own Ikran. I can live with you, Neteyam.โ
โYou already are with me.โ
โThe People donโt see me as one of them. Your parents donโt either. To them, Iโm just some stray cat. And theyโll never see me as one of them unless I become one of them.โ
Neteyam shot up, running his fingers through his braids. Y/N stayed seated, giving her boyfriend an apologetic frown. โNete-โ
โYou cannot do that,โ Neteyam snapped.
Now Y/N got up, reaching to grab ahold of of the taller manโs arm, but he pulled away at the last second. โPlease, just listen to me-โ
โPeople have tried before,โ he huffed. โTo change. Many Sky People before, and not all have survived. My father was very lucky to have passed through the eyes of Ewya and return as he has.โ
Y/N stopped. She dropped her hands to her sides, draining her head up to look into Neteyamโs wide, light yellow eyes. He darted his gaze away from her, shaking his head at the many terrified thoughts that plagued his mind.
What if she died?
He would be all alone.
He could see it now: the little limp body of his perfect Y/N. Lifeless eyes, no breath in her body.
โI- I- I cannot let you do this.โ
โI know youโre scared-โ
โTHEN WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS?!โ Neteyam screamed, finally turning to face the girl he loves. He threw his arms out, scrunching his eyebrows in desperation. โYou could die Y/N, do you know understand that? Or do you just not care?โ
Y/N hung her head low and fidgeted with her fingers. It was one of the few telltale signs of her stressing out, and Neteyam hated to be the cause of it, but he couldnโt help but continue to be angry at her.
โIโฆ I want to go home,โ Y/N mumbled, sniffling under her mask.
Neteyam looked down at the girl, wanting to say a million apologies but biting down in his tongue each time. The fear of losing the women he loved was just too painful.
So, that night, they flew home in silence. Y/N didnโt complain about how high they were and Neteyam didnโt point out an interesting landmark he thought sheโd be fascinated by. Still, he held a hand to hers, squeezing it every so often, never getting a reaction back.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
No matter what Neteyam tried, it was never good enough.
He tried to joke with her. He gave her encouraging words when they were training. Offered her his meal every night. But nothing Neteyam seemed to do got Y/N to acknowledge his existence.
It was becoming obvious to the other Sully children the distance the two were developing and how both were effected by it. The two were always hip to hip, but now, it was like they didnโt even know each other.
Even Jake noticed it. He watched his son stay in the background as his siblings played around, brushing off Tuk when she asked to play with him, or Loโak when he wanted to go hunting with him. And he noticed how, every night for almost a week, his son wouldnโt sneak out.
โOkay, whatโs goinโ on?โ Jake eventually asked. Neteyam turned to his father, straightening his posture.
โNothing sir,โ he lied.
Jake hummed in disapproval, returning to cleaning one of the many guns around him. โIโve known you since you were born. I know when youโre lying.โ
His son stared off into the distance, and when Jake followed his line of sight, he finally understood. Y/N, now sporting scribbles of blue war paint, was talking with Kiri as the two tended to the wounded. The raid earlier today had almost cost the life of a few, but they were all grateful to have made it out alive.
โAh. Whatโs going on with you two?โ
Neteyam shrugged. He sat next to his father, passing him another rifle.
โYou two are close. Whatever it is canโt ruin what you guys have.โ
Jakeโs son rubbed his face, accidentally smearing some of his own ink. โShe wants to get an Avatar body.โ
Jake froze. He slowly turned to look at the girl again, watching as she helped walk one of his injured soldiers to a quieter place to rest. He tried to imagine her double the size she already was . The thought made him smirk.
โHuh. Thatโs somethinโโ.
Neyeyam scoffed, obviously not pleased with his fatherโs reaction. Jake turned to his son. โWhat?โ
โWhat ifโฆ what if she doesnโt make it?โ
The Toruk Makto blinked. He remember Grace, the sarcastic yet brilliant minded scientist that helped him get to where he was today. Seeing the light fade from her eyes was something heโd never forget.
Jake set his weapon down, scratching his scalp. He breathed in, held it in his lungs for a moment before releasing carefully.
โIโm scared Dad. I donโt want her to get hurt.โ
โItโll be okay-โ
โWhat if sheโs not strong enough?โ
โY/Nโs a tough kid. If anyone can make it, itโs her.โ
Neteyam rubbed his face again. He nodded, knowing that Y/N was strong despite her human bodyโs limitations. And Jake could see that Neteyam knew he was right.
Jake looked over at the girl one last time before standing up, seeing how she quickly looked away, continuing her conversation with Kiri. She must be having the same conversation with his daughter.
โShe cares for you,โ Jake pointed out. โA lot. And I know you care for her too. But if this is something she wants to do, you just have to trust her.โ
Neteyam nodded once more, looking at the girl. Jake thought he could see something glistening in his eyes, but decided not to think much of it. The clan leader began marching away to let his son do what he needed to do. Before he left, he held his sonโs shoulder, forcing him to meet his serious expression. โI can promise you sheโs more scared than she lets on. She needs someone to be there for her.โ
Neteyam didnโt say anything. Just turned to look at the girl, his father walking away.
โOh, and next time you try sneaking out, try and be a little more quiet. You woke your mom up last night.โ
That night, Neteyam found the courage to enter theย โhomeโ for the few Sky People left on Pandora. It was a dinky little building just outside the Omatikaya peopleโs territory, housing Sky People such as Norm, Max, and Spider and Y/N. When he entered the building, most all of the lights were dimmed. There was nobody to greet him a the front door as he reached for a mask, playing it carefully around his his neck. The Naโvi teenager had to hunch down to pass through the lab, where Avatar pods were neatly set next to monitors and scieney stuff Neteyam didnโt understand.ย
There was a flashing light down the hall, hushed voices echoing from people heโd never heard. As eh approached the light, he could see Y/N curled up on a couch, the television on. It was playing some sort of movie... Neteyam recocnized the flashing colors on screen. It was Y/Nโs favorite film; sheโd shown him before, reciting lines and pointing out important moments to her lover. Only this time, she wasnโt as animated, instead tucking a heavy blanket over her face to where only her eyes were poking out.ย
Neteyam entered the room, being sure to step heavily as to not to scare her. She didnโt stir, keeping her focus on the T.V.ย โY/N,โ he called out.ย
Nothing.ย
Neteyam sat on the floor, moving to place a hand on the cushion. She continued to look at the screen, but blinked as the Naโvi boy spoke.ย
โY/N, please look at me.โย
Still, nothing.ย
The boy sighed in defeat. he moved to rest his back against the couch, spreading his legs out of the floor and watching the movie. he wasnโt even paying attention, really, playing with the creases in the comfortable fabric. His head was empty and the words coming from the television didnโt register with him.ย
What did was the frigid hand that moved to sit on his.
Neteyam turned to face Y/N, who was still watching the movie, but made the effort to gently touch him. He moved his hands to wrap around hers, his one hand completely engulfing hers. He caressed her knuckles, moving his thumb in uncalculated circles across her skin, letting him know he was there for her.ย
They held each otherโs hands for the rest of the night, until Y/N silently drifted to sleep. Neteyam watched her chest rise and fall, the credits of the movie coming to a low hum as he stared in awe at the most beautiful thing heโd ever seen. He wondered what would still be the same if she were to go into an Avatar body. Her eyes? Her smile? The way her hands would sometimes twitch in her sleep?ย
They would talk. About it all. But tonight, they slept knowing that no matter what happened, they would be there for each other.ย
I See all of your requests, and I AM SO FRICKINโ EXCITED to start writing for yโall!!
Please be patient, but know that your requests are being worked in as we speak. I am also developing a series that takes place during TWOW where the main character is Neteyamโs twin sister. Itโs something Iโve become very passionate over the past few weeks and I cannot wait to share it w/ you.
Stay tuned for updates and keep those requests cominโ!!
My name is Mae (Iโm on Avatar Twitter under the username @/Mae_Is_Crazy) and Iโm just starting out in this site. Iโve read fanfiction over here before, but only just decided to create my own works. I will be posting my rules and what I write by the end of the day today.
