Education to Change the World

so what do you hope to achieve with your non profit? is it just purely a fund raising initiative or do you hope to train more instructors/associates to go to Peru to work directly there? It is inspiring to me that you have taken on such a goal. You mention other relatives are involved? Do you have a group consensus on how to support the original organizations? What made you pick NoVa as the school to get your certificate at? Does NoVa have a program that relates to NGOs?

Yes, NOVA has a certified program that educate people that are interesting in the nonprofit sector. My goal is to find funds for this organizations that have been operating for some years now, and teach them how to became self-sustainable as a small academy that serves the community or microbusiness. They have accomplished main things as learning trades like basic cosmetology, sawing, arts and crafts, jewerly and sold their products in local fairs to sustain the next program. Some years ago after the earthquake their loss their building and some of the equipments. Because we saw the impact or giving this women the opportunity to learn new things, to work in teams and organized events for their own town more and more families are being include but their resources are limit. With Crea +, we take care of the children directly. Son, and daughter’s of the same women or others. Most children that grow without hope or becoming more. We bring them that hope, our students from the Pacific University in Lima, tutor them on weekends reinforcing their learning so they can understand the importance or keep studying. We have now three high school students from Cañete that are preparing to go to the University and they are also tutoring other kids in early school years.

I have a great friend from Ethiopia and she explains the brutality of most of these incidents that occur each day in the view of a non-responsive public. The Inhumane treatment is based on their control and overwhelming religious mentality which seems to run as a governing method that ignores the human factor as a consideration for respect for others. This is what tirany is all about, power blinds the public to the injustice played out each and everyday against hard working foreigners. Foreigners are considered a useless and disposable asset that the government that are providing these visas know very well the issues these people are facing on their soil, but they look away and ignore it. Many people wonder why would someone try to live a different life away from their country but i know that the fact of countries that have a low end of subsistence have little choice. I just believe that the abuse the Saudi government is partaking on people that want to make a better living is absolutely shameful and despicable. And to think I’m heading there next year for deployment. Definitely agree that the U.S government should place strict opposition on this matter.

It is so sad to learn that the ones with power and money instead of compromising and nurture the people that served them chose to abuse them and ignore that they are human and deserve respect. in effect, the course of our life have been dominating by our busy schedules. I do agree that human relationships are very important because our nature is to live in society, in partnership. I have several friends on their sixties who are lonely and depress. Although they seem to enjoyed their their solitude they ended up admitting that a companion will bring them happiness.

Education to Change the World

For the past 3 month I have been working on forming a Nonprofit Organization in America. My experience in this area was null but I have been taking classes at Northern Virginia Community College and finally next month I will receive my Certificate Diploma. I am really excited because the urgency of concluding with this project is not only on me. There are many people that are waiting to be help so they can continue operating and growing. We, the founders’ of Education to Change the World have a mission to find founds in America to help two organizations in Peru, ASODACA (Asociación de Damas Cañetanas) and Crea +.

ASODACA was found in 2004 by the late Mr. Ricardo Ibáñez Orellana and Mrs. Norma Alaba de Ibañez, they have more than 25 associates that work together to help families and children in need. ASODACA have the vision of becoming a self-sustainable organization and the mission of educating and training women and children to contribute with the developing and progress of Cañete province of Lima-Peru. With the decease of Dn. Ricardo Ibañez, ASODACA lost its more powerful donor and as his descendent I took upon myself and other relatives the responsibility of do not letting the organization die.

Crea +, was found in 2007 by a group of business students from the Pacifico University in Lima-Peru. Their goal is to form agents of change by training students to become trainers and at the same time inspired and empowered children from rural school areas to discover the education dream. They tutor these kids on weekends in different areas as mathematics, language, science, business, art and theater. They encourage children to continue study hard and become the first agents of change in their own families because poverty can be defeat with determination and discipline.

We are at the last stage of the organization here in America hoping that next year we can start operating and be an effective contributors for women and children in Cañete – Peru because they deserve it.

JOURNAL 7 RESEARCH CONCERN

I have always a hard time trying to find what to write about. In my first paper, sources was my main challenge. I intended to revise my work but did have much time and got sick. With this second research paper I was able to find more reliable sources after debating what to write about. Choosing a topic was a little hard. I do not want to write about something depressing, and I start sorting between different ideas: should I wright about the effects of laughing or the influence of colors in human behavior perhaps the pleasure of eating in different cultures? at the end I choose to write about euthanasia and betrayed my intention of being positive because reading about the debate of helping someone end his/her life or letting him/her embrace their suffering and painful process was a real ordeal. I have to admit, that there are more points of view about why euthanasia should be aloud in people that make this decision, The controversy is huge and sometimes It think it could be more simple as just help them died, but is not. The mental and emotional effects in those who have help others died quickly providing the means to do so is inevitable and wound them for life.

My position on large controvertial issues is that I came realized that I’m mortal with little time left. I’m still worry and concern on things, but I choose to worry on matters, that have a general pro consensus. I’m concern on topics that I know I can make an impact on. For example; I no longer would contemplate contributing money or time to a large organization wanting to get rid of world poverty, I would much rather allocate resources to small orpanage in Haiti, where progress and proposed projects are visible and accountable for. And, I have to agree in certain respects on your meaningless position, at least for me these larger things are meaningless, even commercialized. Meaningless in the sense that are circles that are inevitably repeting themselves.

Ah yes, the Oofus once more pontificate upon the failings of the lesser races. As a representative of the glorious Thyrmin people of the solar system the young people of earth known as Vega, let me post the counter point. Where the Oofus see greed, we see a race driven by scarcity to heights. Look at how fast they develop, while conflict is horrible, look at how they grow from it.

Some races, such as the enlightened Oofus praise their lack of materialism and look down on others, but we Thyrmin say that way lies stagnation. Have the Oofus unraveleld the secrets of the universe, yet here the backward humans build such things as the Cern collider to discover, to learn. Yes they struggle with such things as pollution and global warming, but in that adversity they rise to challenges. They have unlocked the power of the atom, they map their own genome, they build mighty radio telescopes to listen to the sound of the universe at the birth of the big bang. It is their driven conflicting nature, the urge to master their enviornment rather than stagnate with in its perceived limits, that leads to advancement. In their arrogance the OOfus forget it was their own tribulations which lead to their own advancement. We the Thyrmin do not scold young races for the folly of youth, but instead open our arms to our younger siblings in the galaxy.

I don’t know who these Oofus are, or could find anything about them. However, they seem to belong to some kind of euthopinan highly developed race in a galaxy, far, far away. With that said, I have to agreed with Steven, this already evolved know it all cultures, meaning, we did a lot of harm to ourselves and this is what we found, can’t bring a whole lot of aid or shorten our time of learning. Plus it takes no courage to live in a society that knows everything. I something wonder on the idea, that angels with all their divinity, wisdom and immortality must be bored in their affairs that trouble themselves with us to find meaning to their lives.

Dear Cassius how true are your thoughts, you have touch a point nobody wants to reflect on and we all continue to ignore. History. Not only in Rome but definitely in continue regimes or governments in the line of time. Yet, we have learn nothing. We have compromise our basic and more logical values for greed. Our focus is not our well being as a unified society in which the welfare of one can not be possible without the work of others. Empires don't last forever and we live in a Corp empire, playing democracy every four years and making us think that we are electing our next leader. I wish for a renaissance time, I wish for a time where we have to turn to each other extend our hand, humble ourselves and know that we need each of us for a better future.

I had the opportunity to experience both educational systems, the strict and the not so strict, and I can tell you there isn’t a right or wrong. I enjoyed both, however, there is one thing that I would much rather see in the American Educational System, and that is the school uniform.

My education was in South America, in a all girls Catholic School and I do appreciated very much my school system. In the elementary years it is very important to install the values of hierarchy. Kids must respect adults, be a good listeners, use proper words. Organization, calligraphy, orthography and neatness was part of grading in any class. In the secondary level kids will learn to give their opinion. Values and principles that families teach at home was reinforce at school. Another aspect that I very much value about my education is the fact that the nuns will explain why we make certain choices in school and help us think of the consequences of our misbehavior all this combine with a good structure academy curriculum. In America I value the amount of resources the school offer in big cities. Some school do not believe in homework others do and other school have a system in which kids have the lecture at home and go to school to solve problems and do their homework with the teacher's supervision. I also agree that uniform should be use in all schools, it will limit the stress in children of what to wear and give parents a little break with expenses.

Humans are trying to get in contact with us. We have observed their behavior for years and conclude that they do not make sense. In our effort to decide if a contact is possible we end up with more doubts than when we even consider to be reached. For centuries, we have seen the kind of destruction that their civilization has created in the name of "progress". Humans are not taking care of their own planet, but this is not a topic they seem to care about and we do not understand that. In the North West hemisphere of Earth one of the most important countries the United States, has shut down their government based on economical spending. There is an elite of people, an economical group power that holds, in their hands, the meanings of health treatment and make it impossible for the majority to have access to it. We saw in our long line of observancy how they let people in pain, with chronic diseases die because they can not afford to pay for treatment or because they are more interested in keeping them medicated. It is more profitable. These private economic groups have been raising the price of health as their convenience, on top of collecting monthly payments per individual they have named deductibles, coinsurance and copayments to keep sucking insured pockets, and they will not let it go that easy. That is the fight that has cost some very well payed representatives to shutdown the government, ignoring the willing of the people that have already voted for this program. For us (The Oofus) it’s different, our planet and our health was threatened long ago in our own measurement of time. We have evolved and have been able to understand that materialism, money, possessions destroyed us and we can see how humans are going to the same initial process and doing the same mistakes we once did. They are blinded by greediness and don’t see that a change in necessary. We do not know if these is the change they need but we do know that a different way needs to be tried. Humans frighten us. We also see how they discriminate themselves base on race, culture, believes. etc. We already doubt their good intentions. They will not find us.

Journal 7 - Writing Experience

The process of writing 8 pages paper have been quite an experience for me. At the beginning the sources were not the best but I think they were valid due to the background of the block owners. I've learn not only more about this subject of Genetic Modified Organism, but also about the overall corruption behind it.

Every time I write and research about something, (last year I wrote about artificial insemination) it seems that secrecy, and lack of transparency are in the top list that obstructed investigations. I am taking business one class and one of the forms of doing business is monopoly, the book refers that in the United States monopoly is only aloud to companies as the electric, gas or water but are supervise by a commission that the state appoints. In the case of Generic Engineer one company have the right and protection by governmental institutes to hold a patent of some genetic seeds. I was really surprise in the beginning. After going from reading to washing videos related to the subject I understood why the secrecy. Is all about the money.

Having couple of my peers reading my paper was really helpful. I appreciate every input they have and hope is bisevers. Last class talking about the different themes of each one work, the dynamic was interesting. Some of us agree to some degree for example in Capital Punishment, or the necessity of Notebooks, the behind scene on restaurants and the negative influence that media has over teenagers. Our thinking process was amazing, we went from one topic to other and the time pass real fast. I discover that we have so much to say.

To me the whole concept of paying for health is wrong. I think that without health you are nothing even a small pain or discomfort in someones body ruins their day. Yet, some fight for their right to bear arms but not the essential need of having the peace of mind that your health will be taking care of. At the same time, our system is more willing to invest millions in self defense when we can not even defend ourselves from our own illness, or from insurance that reject coverage or hospital that reject treatment because you don't have sufficient economical value.

In the middle of this helpless reality, the Health Care Reform brings a different approach to the issue of unaffordable health care. It will open a door for more competency between the new health plans that will allowed people to have access to an affordable health plan according with their income and number of family members and the current Insurance companies that gain not only our monthly payment for health, but have come out with terms as copayments, deductibles and coinsurance to keep squeezing our paquets to the maximum extend. I recently read that now women who have been discriminated by earning less salaries than men will have free coverage for preventive care. Additionally, women with private health insurance will also benefit with this reform by being exonerate of paying co-payments. In general any preventive care will be at not cost according with the Patient Protection Affordable Care Act PPACA.

Of course, it was expected, that the corporative industry of private health insurance will moved its pieces in congress to veto this reform. They will have to compete with less cost plans and their power over our health will be also less. I really hope that this Health Care Reform allowed a more efficient democratic market.

The growing of Genetically Modified Organisms started as a great innovative form of helping the agriculture Industry, with the notion that eventually with the population growing and climate change, our world will run out of food and water. It engage many farmers to venture in this business with the promise of more production, more sales, more money.

The idea of creating transgenic food was that the amount of production will triple compare to the way farmers do. It will also prevent the lost of goods by making them resistant to bugs and other forms of contamination. It will create new kinds of fruits and vegetables my mixing their DNA's and in animals will make their meet or milk stronger and better for our health by injecting the kind of vitamins we need. All this intentions sounded genial and many wanted to participate in this new market.

If genetic modified organism have been in the market for more than ten years now, how is that we do not know which one is GMO? We are been consuming food without the knowledge of the treatment these products have been going through. Why the secrecy? I always though that in America everything was safe and feel confident on buying in different supermarkets because the law enforce proper distributions and labeling of goods. When I found out that the producers and distributors of GMOs are not obligated to label this products because are consider as safe as organic food I was furious and disappointed.

In addition, there are insufficient test about how can this transformations affects us. The controversy started when some scientist opposed the consumption of this products. They argue that changing the DNA in plants, animals, seeds etc., will interfere with our own genes and can have devastating results. They have tested animals, resulting in deficient health problems.

Monsanto is the name of the company that owns the right of patent GMos seed. This Corporation is and have been in the pharmaceutical business for a long time, which make me think that health is not in their concern.

I think technology is great in many ways. Is practical, convenient, and efficient. As you said, you can have many books in one portable machine, and your back doesn't have to suffer for carrying heavy encyclopedias, moreover Notebook computers has so many more functions that makes it real efficient.

On the other hand, I also think about our dependability to it. To technology in general. What will happen if we run out of power and we can not charge our batteries. Or if our Notebook lands in unscrupulous hands and our privacy is espouse. What if I get assault by someone that wants to take my device? Most people are not attractive to books and they can not sale it for a good price. What is really going to happen with our eyes! we all are going to develop dry eye syndrome! Oh NO!

Don't panic! in reality our world is going in that direction and even for some of us that still enjoy the smell of old books, or writing with ink and feather, or analyse someones personality by their hand writing seams that these times are over and technology is writing the future of this generation and the ones to come.
