I cant wait for the soccer world cup to begin. This is one of the moments that i can wait to enjoy on my wide screen. There are so many great teams that qualified for this event. My favorite to consider champion would be Argentina or Chile but Spain and Portugal are definite contenders to take the trophy. I have enjoyed the world cup since i was a kid. There are great moments shared by my family during this past world cups. We watch any game at any hour of the day or middle of the night in some cases but we never miss a match. It is a custom to place individual bets among family members and also to make a pot of money to give out for the family member that chooses the correct world cup winner. The pot this year will be of 320 dollars, 10 dollars per person. We include kids over the age of 7. We go by categories and team schedules. We divide members based on the schedule they receive and for every team that looses, the person that chose that team from a raffle in the beginning places 10 dollars in the pot, kept at a secret location by someone that collects the money. Then, finally the two teams that remain will hold a final showdown with all family members showing up at one of their homes for support and a great time. I love the experience of sharing the world cup event as a family.

That's a great organization, seems like everything is settled to begin the work. The most wonderful thing you can provide a child is education. I've been to Peru, Lima, El Callao, San Juan de Miraflores and including La Sierra for a week. Let me tell you, great experience but the necessity for better schools and education is essential in our countries and it is inspiring to know this kind of work is being implemented in Peru with contributing members here in the U.S.

I'm sure it has taken a lot of time to finally see some results from the resources and contributors of these programs but it must definitely be a rewarding feeling to see the work accomplished by all those efforts. I wish you the best in your endeavors in establishing this non-profit organization.

I have a great friend from Ethiopia and she explains the brutality of most of these incidents that occur each day in the view of a non-responsive public. The Inhumane treatment is based on their control and overwhelming religious mentality which seems to run as a governing method that ignores the human factor as a consideration for respect for others. This is what tirany is all about, power blinds the public to the injustice played out each and everyday against hard working foreigners. Foreigners are considered a useless and disposable asset that the government that are providing these visas know very well the issues these people are facing on their soil, but they look away and ignore it. Many people wonder why would someone try to live a different life away from their country but i know that the fact of countries that have a low end of subsistence have little choice. I just believe that the abuse the Saudi government is partaking on people that want to make a better living is absolutely shameful and despicable. And to think I'm heading there next year for deployment. Definitely agree that the U.S government should place strict opposition on this matter.

I also believe that structures are part of Text that involved a meaning to certain events that marked our history. They do mean something. It's a form of expression by the architect who built it which makes it have an inspirational theme for someone to perceive and conceived as knowledge. Nobody knows the way they did it (example, the pyramids of Egypt), even the architecture itself is a mystery and so finding its true knowledge is part of that context that will determined its true meaning.

I agree with the fact that humanity's intellect is affected by the creativity and imagination defined in our Text as the common virtue of communication in the long history of men. We do obtain "order" from the explicit direction Text provides, as we are led by the symbols we learn and later perfect to express for future generations that will understand the messages by different  ways of transmitting the symbols in cultures all around the world. This has happened repeatedly in our past, present and most likely future generations with highly advance cultures will adapt new Text to set the foundations for others to learn from us. Maybe someday, ancient aliens will visit long after we are gone and ask "what happened here on earth? who were the beings living here?,  and what were there needs? Perhaps they will dig our cities and learn from our TEXT". They would come to the conclusion that our own self wisdom destroyed the human race. That we used the Text learned to destroy ourselves rather than use it for good.

It's great to find the sources that keep your paper organized for the purpose of writing a paper. I feel the bibliographies are quite helpful when it relates to dividing the sources to see the focal points for your topic's development. The structure of the paper is also directed in the way we see the whole paper by the type of source we chose, even when we write a draft, we can pull all the information we need from the abstracts or synopsis of each source to find direction for the main ideas.

I take your idea of "touch" as a form of "Text" an awesome conceptual personal feeling between relationships. The two relationships described above allow me to see "touch" as the content of an expression by two individuals that can also be understood universally and that makes it "Text", it's relative to the human race, we understand it and has been here since the beginning of time. Great way of perceiving your environment when it comes to relating the "medium" for transmitting an emotion with two different identities between the messages being conveyed. One is love and the other friendship. I completely agree.

– Think about the idea of the “Text.” Can everything be considered a “Text?” If so, what implications does that have for things such as laws, newspapers, movies, etc.? The interpretation of any "text" has an influential aspect of how you feel about a subject matter. Everything can be considered "text" due to the fact that expressions created by actors involving imagery, mimics, or actual word content contains a meaning, a directive, a definite attribute to influence knowledge.Characters in a movie show emotion to direct their audience to a focal point of understanding. Not every movie is appropriate for every audience but it will impact and convey a message to any audience whether is good or bad. Laws are an expression of code that depict structure, organization and direction for a civilize culture such as the Mayas, Incas and Aztec' (even their physical structures represented inspiration for a union with their surroundings). To be "text", it means to have some sort of depiction of knowledge expressed to a community that perceives the message. Numbers, facial expressions, languages, codes, symbols, allegorical speech, whatever the text, it is special for someone's content for the growth of intellect in the spectrum of life-example: Spiritual- God is "Text". Sumerian language, the Code of Hammurabi, Egyptian hieroglyphics words in the form of pictures portrait the sense of culture that derived their society from some form of "Text". Informative articles, global market schedules, cartoons; all these are sections of interests in our society to communicate with each other under a social setting involving different manners of receiving data by our mediums of social interaction through our media. A belief, a thought, a sense (feeling), imagination itself are contents of "Text".

I have concluded on a topic based on the mythological symbol of the dragon and how it has influence all cultures of the world as an element for a description of evil in the universe as faith implies in the clerical works of prophets throughout the ancient cultures' religions. My emphasis was on perpetrating the topic( dragons ) as a universal concept towards an influence in cultures as a mythical figure, instead,  the more in dept the academic research; the more focus on the impact of the interpretation  of the dragon in devoted faith developed. The dragon appears in culture's fears and it's influence around the ecclesiastical structures of society is regarded as the personage of evil in religions all over the world, the research turned out to be directing my mind process towards this subject. And so, the structure of my topic had become concise from mythology to the real human experience in cultures having a perspective over the dragon symbol in one's faith. The research in the library database aided my efforts in finding the appropriate bibliographies to attain the content of my paper in literature and articles derived from university studies of written books on my subject and also direct quotes from spiritual books such as the bible which is always a great source; for there are many printed direct sources of interpretation for someone like me to understand the message behind the symbolic text, such is the case with the symbols in the book of Revelations. I was concerned on not finding the material to cover a ten page essay regarding my topic but i managed to focus on the aspect of Religion and as you know, religion is always a controversial issue among  faith interpretations. The feeling of finding the correct sources has provided a sense of comfort with the audience being addressed to ( classmates ), to make sure the topic is delivered as a deductive argument and to have the reader come to an understanding of the universal view from an individual representation of the topic "dragons" by many cultures including Western civilization. I'm sure faith in relationship to the view of the dragon in revelation will have an impact on how we perceived this topic but just as the symbol of the cross that appeared to Constantine influenced the Crusaders to commit horrendous acts of inhumane evil, so will the symbol of the dragon and it's affects over the world will influence the human race once again to undermine the hand of God in the latter days. Has the dragon influenced you lately? I guess it all depends on your faith on how you view that mythical creature in aspects of religion.

Dear Cassius how true are your thoughts, you have touch a point nobody wants to reflect on and we all continue to ignore. History. Not only in Rome but definitely in continue regimes or governments in the line of time. Yet, we have learn nothing. We have compromise our basic and more logical values for greed. Our focus is not our well being as a unified society in which the welfare of one can not be possible without the work of others.  Empires don’t last forever and we live in a Corp empire, playing democracy  every four years and making us think that we are electing our next leader. There's nothing new under the sun, correct. So, with that being said, our future holds us accountable for past generations that have gain pleasures in life when ruling as they please in their society structure. They established a future according to the schemes of the past and we have done the same as Democracy became corrupted by greed in Greek's history into the development of our own Democracy. The laws were already set, they were just accommodated to fit the nature of men itself, well, the worst of it for sure. The constitution written by free men were once slaves themselves of another country and while forming this living document, they attributed great power in it for those that ruled and not for the common farm man that needs to fight to obtain their rights amended . The document is a living document but is corrupted whenever some political party feels like arguing their rights are being violated by it. What I mean is that, neither a new government or Revolution will disseminate the pride in man to do the right thing when we generalize the concept of will. The will of men will always brake to pressure to reject the truth and accept the pleasures only a king enjoys in the peak of his power.

My position on the disenchentment to large controvertial issues is that I came realized that I’m mortal with little time left. My most precious comodity is time, and I can’t afford to loose one minute of it. Nonetheless, I prefer to worry on matters, that have an unquestionable wide approval. But even when considering good intendended issues, such as eradicating world hunger, I would still measure it to see if is worth my troubles. As I stated earlier, I concerned on smaller causes that I know I can make a difference on. Let me explain; I’m disturbed with poverty an hunger, however, I no longer would contemplate contributing money or time to a large organization wanting to get rid of world poverty, I would much rather allocate resources to a small orpanage in Haiti, where progress and proposed projects are visible and accountable for. A tangible or arms reach objective.

I have to agree in certain respects on your position for meaningless, at least for me larger objectives and culture disagreements are meaningless, even commercialized. Meaningless in the sense that; why would I in my limited time worry when some of these perennial larger issues are part of the inevitable cycles of life that are condemned repeting themselves?

I'm sure you find controversy in many subjects that affect daily life in general for the world you're living in. My second thought is that you perhaps see the issues affecting our world in a smaller scale in the vast amount of problems we have in every spectrum of society, which is also a personal choice for dealing with the stress that come from knowing current affair topics that only make you feel vulnerable to the fact we can't do much about them . Our issues are common around the globe but I feel there are greater consequences for those that don't take information seriously because the exposures of tragedies in the 21st century can be at our doorsteps, things such as civil war, epidemics, revolution, government declaring martial law against their own people, hunger is also a possibility.

Journal 7 “nature’s war”

  The Obama Administration has turn out to be highly controversial on the topic dealing with drones or Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV).  The unmanned piloted systems have been declared a weapon that is against the Geneva Convention which argues in regard war crimes committed against civilians without just cause in any place not declared a warzone. International law is as follow: “In armed conflict, only combatants and people directly participating in hostilities may be directly targeted. Outside armed conflict, intentional lethal force is lawful only when strictly unavoidable to protect against an imminent threat to life. In some circumstances arbitrary killing can amount to a war crime or extrajudicial executions which are crimes under international law.” Amnesty, the international human rights watch dog against violations on international law is requesting the U.S and any other government against the project to investigate drone attacks from 2012-present over Pakistani and Afghanistan territory causing innocent civilians deaths.  From Leonardo Davinci’s perspective, he would have been the lead engineer creating top of the line aerial weapons that would have contributed to this kind of controversy. He would have seen the governments he served as politically correct as long he had time and space for his works and inventions. With the technology of our time Leonardo would have created invisible planes that underwent tactical missions to seek and destroyed single targets without any collateral damage. The opponents of such inventions would have also been worried that their security and protection of rights would be in jeopardy. Leonardo would argue that to harvest revolutionary innovations in a competitive world there will always be the expectation of innocent tragedy.  The violation of the law of life cannot be an excuse to detriment the fact that the people they should be against is their own government which allows the harvesting of terror through unconventional methods striking fear by their own extreme measures.  Their government should provide them with justice when their own people have thrown the first stone against the fragility of innocent life.

Short Response to peer letters

The workshop developed great results for the purpose of producing a full concrete paper. I obtained new insight on the full understanding of use for the vast amount of technical data that was represented on the structure of the paper. The constructive criticism allowed me to see the dependency of the sources were well distribute throughout the paper but because of the data overload it was suggested to add better transitional points to break the technical statistics provided. By providing a detailed mini conclusion at the end of each paragraph in support of the data, I will keep the reader informed and interested in the next main idea which keeps the flow and organization of the paper structure. Also, with suggestions from my peers, I was informed on the critical statements that might cause confusion if not redirected or rephrase to provide a better understanding of the focal points according to my outline. I found the workshop to be very helpful and constructive to guide the thesis stated on my first paragraph thoroughly, without losing the reader’s attention.Thanks team for taking the time to read and make corrective suggestions on things that i didn't see on my own and now i feel reassure that my paper will definitely improve.

      I am amazed by the flexibility of American college education system. True, it takes some time to adapt, not very user friendly in the beginning, even challenging.  Someone who is not used to this system, like me, may find it difficult to comprehend those applied and not applied degrees, certificates, majors, minors, electives, prerequisites, course equivalents, hybrid courses, ELI courses, dynamic sessions, etc. It seems to take a college degree just to find your way through the system, but as you slowly move forward, analyzing different options, talking to advisors, trying to build your own schedule, countless possibilities emerge.

The American education system is efficient for many reasons that help students like myself reach their educational goals. I am full time student with NOVA taking 4 to 5 classes per semester, I have no problems using the system as long the organization of your classes agrees with your current work load, family and extra curriculum activities. Someone who is determined will find the structure of the system compatible to their needs. Once the support is found in your school facility and you take the time to learn the different options available for your aid, then it comes naturally to either take courses in class or by the internet.

Life used to be different.

I was reminiscing on the great times my friends and I had when we were younger. The spontaneity of taking off at will without any hesitations or rules to govern the road trips we took. The times we shared that will never return, nor never forgotten, but will be missed on quite terribly. My best friends went on to have families and settled down making new memories with their soul mates. I understood times were changing when calls no longer were answered on the first ring. Conversations were dulled and uninteresting to my distinct taste of life. I wanted constant action; needed the excitement and thrill of new adventures by conquering new fears. Seeking the lifestyle of a nomad, with no restrictions to the developed habits of my inhibition, which were attained by the wild life I loved. Enjoying this life of selfish decisions made me accustomed to the night life, feeling like a gargoyle pursuing the images displayed by the shadows of people crossing each other's path below me. I have always been used to the night; it seems I’m reluctant to control my urges and wont stop doing what I please. Change is a pattern of life and can’t be avoided, without losing the opportunity to grow as a human being. Change is the way to go, when you are done with the old, it’s an alternative, adopting it can supply other needs that can fulfill the emptiness of a soul searching the dark for answers that are found plentiful in the nucleus of a family.  Tonight I will go out and add to the euphoria created by the loud music and chatter all around me. My friends are sleeping and settled down inside their covers with the warmth of their loved ones; maybe dreaming or not, but for sure exhausted from their busy life.  They place their dreams on their pillows which grant them a guaranteed day of the same but courageously steadfast, somehow they endure it with pleasure, singing the lullabies in a place called by many “home sweet home”.  Life has indeed changed and its climax is a matter of adaptation.

-Making an Argument-

. The tragedy of losing a home to the financial institutions is a tough lost for a family who has invested. Though, banks were helped out by the governments bailouts, the consumer had received a harsh blow in their future savings for retirement. The Consumer paid the ultimate price and was left hanging in the mist of the real estate world with a non-negotiable return check in their hands.  Consumers should be well informed when selling or purchasing a home.

The real estate market boom of the early part of the 21st century hit the unaware and gullible buyer. I took the bait as well, as they say “the best thing since sliced bread” was an un-reputable market which provided the common “Joe”, availability for ownership of high priced homes, regardless of regulations.  People were obtaining property with no regards of the risks involved in a real estate transaction. You see, Lenders ( banks in general) had a specific plan, a simple trend that  evolved from the knowledge that consumers with low or no credit would do anything to obtain a loan for the purchase of a home. So, despite credit reports, loan officers offered their programs (3 or 5 year arm loan programs with excessive fees) to incapable clients who had no idea of the potential lost they would endure in the coming years.  We all heard the horrible stories; families suffered losing all their savings just to afford paying a mortgage. People went to extremes and were “taken for ride” as we say. They gave up hope, seeing their illusions make a mockery of their decisions. Who doesn’t want a home? Is part of the American dream! In a way, it shows the capability of your citizenship. You owe a piece of America. Doesn’t that sound nice? We were sold smoking mirrors! Well, even people who didn’t have citizenship were hustled with no real impunity over those that cause it.  Banks knew the consumer couldn’t pay these loans back and were going to forfeit or default eventually. They became the judge, jury and executioner of the real estate market over the backs of those who didn’t know better (but should have known), without any remorse.

The Real Estate business is returning to a stable market. Short sales and Foreclosures are not the most convenient way to shop for a deal. Only investors with high capital are making a lot of money with these types of unfortunate sales. The rates on loans are steadily going up and therefore, the consumer is viewed under different criteria when obtaining a loan. In the coming year, according to reports on real estate data, the requirements for consumers will become a bit stiffer. Those fortunate owners that were able to maintain their losses and afford to keep their homes are now in many areas of Northern Virginia able to sell once again. Sellers gain a profit as the market value of their properties rise up. These past few years as a result of the market hike, properties acquired equity. Also, buyer’s market is returning but with the consumer having the knowledge this second time around, purchasers are delicate and precise with what they can actually afford. Did we learn our lesson? Perhaps, such frustration was needed but at a high cost.

 There was a slogan a few years ago but it reflects today’s market, “An educated consumer makes the best [real estate] client”, and this is absolutely true. If you or anyone is placing your home as a listing to show prospective buyers, understand that they will be armed through the teeth with consumer knowledge obtained by passed market experience. Do your homework and receive the best advice by well-trained real estate agents that will help you on your future real estate endeavors. Do not be afraid to ask questions and make wise informed decisions foreseeing risks as well as benefits of your specific transaction.

Consideration points you could approach the topic might be from the political spectrum that emphasizes on women's rights and the progressive movement for equality. Likewise, it could be an interesting point to make if maybe you can add a personal story on someone that dealt with the post trauma caused by abortions. Also, i know about a horrible story on the abuse of this controversial right to abort in which a woman aborted 5 times because she found out it was a girl and she wanted to please her husband with a boy. I mean i think is horrible to take life if we're considered a christian nation, there's also a moral issue that goes with this tough decision on a woman's part.. I had 3 nurses tell me the wrong sex of my son, how could that even be an excuse to feel you can have the right to abort because is your body. Maybe something like this story could be a counter proposal against your essay topic.
