The worst witch season 4 was... Indeed interesting to watch. However, based on especially the season finale, I think it's gonna be the last season of the series and here's why I think so:

1. Mildred's speech. It summed up all the previous seasons, giving the feeling of saying goodbye in a way.

2. Ethel and Mildred sort of coming to terms at the end of the episode. Their feud has been going on for all the seasons, and while ofc it could easily be reignited again, this just felt like a conclusion.

3. Miss Hardbroom's words to Mildred, telling her why she treated her how she did, and actually indicating how proud she is of her. Mildred's been carrying the title of the worst witch throughout all the seasons, but finally (at least figuratively) being acknowledged as the best witch through the whole head girl thing.

4. Agatha's... Can I call it a suicide? It is basically one "frequently used plot" gone off the map, to put it bluntly.

5. The quality of the writing dropping gradually throughout the seasons 3 and 4, which makes me think that maybe the writers knew the series is gonna end and couldn't be bothered. It's not exactly new to BBC treat children's shows badly. This is a bit far fetched, I know but just a thought.

6. Mildred's father case solved. The last episode felt like tying all the plots together, concluding established stories. (Whereas I think it was a bit half-assed, but then again, it's a children's show.)

Overall I think this episode was very final and concluding, but we can never know. I for example would've loved to know Mr. Daisy better, and maybe we will, maybe there will be a season five. However, the show has been going on already quite long for a children's show and I wouldn't be surprised if BBC would've now pulled the plug.

I felt like it as well. The final of the fourth seasons sounded like a conclusion with the same reasons you told us. 

But I have the sensation that there will be a last season for some reasons :

First, according to the books, there are five years for the girl to fully graduate.

Secondly, it would have been interesting to see how Mildred managed her new life as head girl, plus the evolution with the realtion she will develop with her finaly found dad. 

Thrid reasons : The show proved us that Agatha isn’t the only reason of the many school’s shenanigans, since everything could turn bad with a tiny thing, and mostly due to the students’ decisions. 

I think these conclusions to the main plots have opened new ones. It is quite an open ending when we think about it. 

So, are my thoughts fueled by the hope to see another and last season, or am right ? I don’t really know honestly :’) 

But what if they created a fifth seasons and it feels like they did it just to please the fans with the lack of actually wanting to pursue the show ? :/

Night 24137 She is afraid of the dark. I could see it in her eyes when she got out of bed. …I lit the lamps for her.

Day 24142 They have moved the couch to the sun spot a little to the right of the window. That is where I used to have my armchair. It is the only sensible place for it.

Day 24163 Sometimes the noises of the world are suddenly too much for him. He winces and tries not to sway his head. This is my house. …I can keep it calm and quiet for a while.

Day 24178 She just got a phone call and now they are both laughing. Laughter is a good sound, isn’t it. They said this house has been good luck…
