ok some random henry-orientated hcs (featuring other characters) here ^_^
★ loves gardening, and has done from a very young age. he used to spend a lot of time gardening with scott while gordon preferred reading. upon arriving on sodor, he’d take care of the plants around his apartment complex (shared with gordon and edward, though they all lived in separate apartments — they were neighbours) as well as the greenhouse. when he finally moves in with james, he gets to take care of an actual garden, and his favourite thing about it is the pond. henry adores pond life though james isn’t too fond (he thinks frogs and fish are slimy).
★ has a fascination with medicine and anatomy and really likes the human body. his interest actually comes from his own suffering. he finds himself more comforted when he knows what’s going on with his body, and panics when something new occurs - he thinks that if he’s hyper aware of what’s wrong, it’ll keep his mind at rest.
★ suffers quite badly with migraines, and experiences the “flashing lights” aura before the actual headache. he thinks the aura is arguably worse than the pain because it makes him feel sick and dizzy. luckily usually james, gordon or edward are around to offer assistance. in the case that all three are there, gordon and james keep henry company while the painkillers kick in and henry naps (and make sure the room is dark enough as not to disturb him) and edward makes his favourite soup when he’s awake and more with it. they keep their conversations as quiet as possible, and always make sure there’s at least one person by henry’s side :]
★ uses a cane, crutches and a wheelchair when it’s absolutely necessary. generally it’ll be his cane he’s seen with — the crutches and wheelchair are for his bad pain days or fainting episodes. his cane is decorated to look like a branch (which he painted himself) and he’s considered wrapping it in fairy lights. he was actually reluctant to use any form of mobility aids at first, but gordon eventually convinced him, and promised no one would think differently of him.
★ was rambunctious and often unkind in his 20s-early 30s and it was usually because of his pain. after the flying kipper accident and the traumatic brain injury causing the coma that followed, henry started to become a worrier — and it’s understandable why. he still snaps sometimes, but he’ll always apologise. where he didn’t take great care of his health before the accident, he does a lot more now. one part because the brain injury and coma made him realise how precious life is, and another part because he never wants to see gordon in the state that he was in during his healing process (as well as the stories he’d heard from edward regarding what gordon was like during the actual coma period).
★ really enjoys swimming and fishing. he did try to get james into fishing, but he was too fidgety and found it kind of boring. gordon and edward actually think it’s relaxing, though, and often join him on his fishing trips. james much prefers to swim with henry than fish (and enjoys a hot tub even more). henry also enjoys painting! he’s a traditional artist that uses mostly watercolour on canvas.
★ his fav shows are house and call the midwife. he and gordon actually binged the house series together (and then gordon introduced it to edward). he enjoys these shows because of his (as mentioned before) fascination with the human body and medicine.
