We didn’t really stray too far, since neither of us really wants to take too much time off of work, and we didn’t want to plan for something too big, either. Ultimately, we decided to just have a small wedding at his parents’ house!
when they get married ( ie what time of day, what month and season etc. )
We got married February 22nd! So, it was a winter wedding, and we decided to have the ceremony in the afternoon, that way no one was rushed and we could have a reception at night.
what traditions they include ( do they get married under a chuppah and crush a glass, garter toss, ‘something borrowed, something blue,’ etc. )
Neither of us care too much about adhering strictly to wedding traditions, but admittedly, I am weak for the “something old, new, borrowed, blue” tradition, since it has some fairly sweet meanings. We also did do both the bouquet and garter tosses, since Simon was pretty insistent, and it felt unfair to do one but not the other.
what their wedding cake looks like
I’m not a big fan of anything too extravagant, but we still wanted something chic!
….who smashes cake into whose face
Neither of us did! Simon was temped, but he knew I certainly wouldn’t be happy if he messed up my makeup. : )
who proposed to who first
Simon did! It was something that we’d kinda teased each other about and made a few jokes of, but ultimately, Simon is the one who made it 100% serious.
who walks down the aisle and who waits at the altar ( or neither )
Simon waited at the altar while I was walked down the aisle!
what their wedding dresses / suits / other look like
Look, I know that black isn’t a typical wedding color, but the monochrome scheme is something we both really liked, and plain white isn’t my style.
what their wedding colour scheme is and what sort of decor they have
I mentioned this, but we went monochromatic! Mainly black and white, but with some soft grays here and there on things. As for decor, we went very minimalist. Just standard and simple, and not much more than necessary. I did make sure we have fairy lights for the reception, of course.
what flowers are in the bouquet ( if applicable. bonus: what do the flowers mean?)
The main flowers were calla lilies, which have faithfulness as a meaning! The meaning wasn’t the reason for choosing them, though, they’re just my favorite flowers.
if anyone’s late to the wedding
No one was late because otherwise they would likely have had to face Aura’s wrath.
what their vows are ( eg poetry, traditional, improvised etc. )
I’m absolutely awful with expressing how I feel through words, so I kept the traditional vows! Simon, however, opten to be extra and write his own, which were an interesting mix of sappy and mildly concerning (for everyone else).
who’s in the bridal parties / groomsmen / other
Maid of Honor went to @magi-ludus-shipping and Best Man was @self-shipper-of-doom. There’s a few others of my close friends here who I consider to have been part of the bridal party, such as @myrainydayloves, and of course Athena and Klavier were included! Also, we were very happy to have @the-perfect-husbando and Manfred there was well!
what their bridal party / groomsmen / other are wearing
Noel got their suit in white, though, because what Noel wants, Noel gets.
who gives speeches at the reception ( bonus: what do they say? recount a sweet memory or two between them? tell an embarrassing story? )
Samantha and Noel give speeches, of course! But I imagine that both Athena and Aura manage to snag the mic and say some dopey, embarrasing stuff that leaves Simon very much regretting letting anyone speak. Miles also gives a short, but tasteful and very moving speech.
who catches the bouquet( s )
I am… Awfull at throwing anything and despite everyone who actually tried it catch it, it ended up smacking Apollo right in the face and landing in his lap.
what their wedding photos are like ( are they sweet, with the couple holding hands or kissing or ~gazing into each others eyes~? are they silly, with a snapshot of the ‘cake-smash’ moment? or are they artistic, with one of them facing the sunset or holding their bouquets? )
Real talk, we didn’t bother much with photos. At least, not of us. There’s a few, of course! But we were more interested in getting photos of friends and family there, and the occasion as a whole.
what sort of food they have at the reception
There were a few options we discussed, but ultimately we went for a more japanese-influenced meal, since that’s to Simon’s preference, and food is rather important to him.
who cries first during the ceremony
Simon was a little teary before I was, but I was the one who actually cried first. Like, “surprise, you were very happy and now you’re crying so hard you can barely talk” cry. Simon was more than a little concerned when it started, honestly.
how wild their reception gets ( who dances the best, who gets drunk first, etc. )
The reception was fairly calm, but once again, if anything too wild happened, everyone would have had to face Aura’s wrath.
what their rings are like
We went pretty standard for the rings, but opted for a rose gold. Yellow gold is too abrasive in my opinion, and I do like the soft pink tone. Plus, gold is about the only metal I can wear.
what sort of favours they have ( heart shaped sparklers, mini champagne bottles, personalised candy etc. )
Bubbles! I’ve always been very partial to bubbles as wedding favors.
where they go for their honeymoon
We didn’t, lol. The night of, we spent at a fany hotel, but the next day it was back home and back to normal life.
something memorable that happens during the party / ceremony ( do they run out of ice and someone goes to get it in full formal wear on foot, does anyone fall asleep in the middle of the party, etc. )
Aside from general friend and guest shenanigans, nothing too out of the ordinary happened! Taka seemed to be eyeing the cake quite a bit, but luckily he didn’t try anything, else I might have cried.

what song their first dance is to
Neither of us could find a contemporary piece that we thought was suitable for us, so we opted for something classical! The Firebird Suite has heavy sentimental value to me, and is something I hold very closely, so we opted for the Lullabye from it.
who gives who away as they walk down the aisle
Miles walked me down the aisle! I was a bit hesitant to ask, because I wasn’t sure if he would be comfortable doing so, but after finding out that I didn’t have anyone to do so, he offered. I’m very glad he did.
