I know someone who calls herself a feminist, puts her pronouns in her work email signature, donates money to women’s empowerment funds, and thinks we should deport more refugees. Thinking about the two (male) coworkers I had a few farm jobs ago, one of whom was a very well spoken and politically knowledgeable self reported socialist who was nevertheless urging me to stay silent about the lower wages I was receiving so I didn't compromise his job. The OTHER one was a foulmouthed nineteen year old who didn't know what trans meant (but listened VERY well when I talked about it) and was absolutely up in arms about the wage inequality, and honestly any injustice in front of him. Any conspiracy theory about people going missing in National Parks is automatically silly to me. Like "Why are National Parks such a hotbed of disappearances???" because they're full of idiots. You've got thousands of people who've never pissed outdoors in their life wandering around the woods/desert/mountain with zero experience and zero gear and zero understanding that this place can kill them. You don't see as many disappearances in wild areas because people don't go to them unless they have some background knowledge. Whereas you get tour buses full of old folks and suburban families shuttling people into National Parks 365 days a year. If you took the same amount of buffoons and dropped them in the actual wilderness the disappearances would be significantly higher than at the parks. Use your brain.

if elves lived in modern america they would be rednecks im sorry but it's true. imagine you meet a tall guy who's always in a baseball cap and driving around in his truck and learn that he's a crack shot with a rifle, like insanely good. okay that's pretty cool i guess. but it starts to get weird cuz he's so good at identifying edible plants that he practically survives off of berries and wild game and his mom's homemade bread which is the absolute best stuff you've ever tasted in your life. his truck, which he tells you he essentially built himself with the amount of repair and replacement work he put into it, is either insanely well-built or insanely lucky, and drives right on through snowdrifts and mud pits and potholes like they're nothing. the first time he tries to take you on a hike he drags you uphill for two straight hours with a cheery smile on his face and seems genuinely surprised when you're worn out at the top. sometimes when you're out in the woods his head turns around at what you swear is literally nothing and he's like "oh yeah there's deer 'round here you can hear 'em. loud as all get-out." when he finally takes off his fluorescent orange snapback and shows you his pointy ears and tells you he's immortal you're just like oh that makes a lot of sense actually

Living on a planet where any government is allowed to go through with military action that they know will result in the death of civilians should be gut-wrenchingly painful for all of us. Over 10,000 children have died in Palestine since October 7th, and there is not a single child in Gaza who is not suffering. CHILDREN. INFANTS. I can't stop thinking about all the innocent children we are losing and leaving to suffer every day.

Please use whatever privilege you have to do whatever you can during the Global Strike for Palestine (January 21st - 28th). Contact your representatives. Call for an immediate ceasefire. Boycott, stimulate the economy as minimally as possible, participate in pro-Palestinian protests, educate yourself, and most importantly, amplify the voices of Palestinians.
