MXTX mains by ascending order of how much fun they'd have if their love interest shrank to pocket size:

6 Lan Wangji -- this poses a significant impediment to his sex life and also is nearly as stressful as wei ying running around in paper man form, but much less easily reversed.

5 Luo Binghe -- look, tiny shizun is cute, but the novelty is going to wear off quick and then what? this shizun has to fly up on a tiny sword to even pat Luo Binghe's head, his lap is not big enough for Binghe to lie on, it's just not sustainable.

4 Hua Cheng -- theoretically he's not against this it's just that xie lian would manage to be the most stressful unholy terror if he was mouse-sized, I think.

3 Shen Qingqiu -- actually he loves this, look at the itty-bitty binghe! but his ability to enjoy it is dampened by luo binghe's genuine and obvious misery with the situation. binghe worked so hard to get taller than shizun and now it's all ruined! again!

2 Xie Lian -- same as shen qingqiu actually he thinks smol san lang is very cute, and hua cheng is better at handling this development than luo binghe. unfortunately it does kind of remind them of when hua cheng was a helpless ghost light and xie lian was being tortured.

1 Wei Wuxian -- he's making lan zhan a tiny guqin.

How I think each MXTX protagonist would adapt to technology:

SQQ: we all know exactly how this man utilizes the internet. It got him killed and he is not the type to learn from his mistakes

Wei Wuxian: this man would go on a Wikipedia deep dive that surpasses the Mariana Trench in depth. Three weeks in he’s learning how to code his own ghost detecting app.

Xie Lian: It is easier to teach your grandmother how to order a pizza online than explain google to this man. He just looks so kindly confused the whole time. Secretly, he understands it perfectly and is just playing a funny joke on you. He enjoys watching sword videos and sending outdated memes to Hua Cheng.

As for the love interests:

LBH: He loves the recipes, and the ability to keep track of someone else’s phone at all times. However he will fry that laptop in an instant if he thinks his Shizun loves it more than spending time with him.

Lan Wangji: He uses it for three things in order of importance: cute rabbit pictures, guqin music he hasn’t heard, and porn

Hua Cheng: he would quickly become obsessed with taking the perfect selfie. Xie Lian finds the trash folder on his phone and falls in love with all the reject pictures. To his husband’s horror he makes a collage of them and sets them as his phone background.

I think part of the reason I’m so obsessed with MXTX’s works is the way that each story seems to hold you gently as say “Your kindness mattered. It didn’t alleviate the suffering, it did not undo the pain. But your kindness mattered.”

Kindness could not erase Luo Binghe’s abuse, but it changed the story into a kinder one.

Kindness did not stop Wei Wuxian’s death, but it did save a-Yuan.

Kindness did not undo Xie Lian’s suffering, but it renewed his sincerity to help others.

Kindness did not change the entire world, but it helped create a softer future.

Its such a nice message, that maybe kindness will not protect you, maybe you don’t see the outcome of it, but you should still try to be kind, and I love that honestly.
