Still wondering what this exchange was about:
ADAM BLACKWELL: Ah, well... I hadn’t made that particular discovery just yet. But still. There’s a reason I had her cut off the hair before I tried it.
CLAUDIA SKINNER: You... had her cut off the hair?
ADAM BLACKWELL: Yeah, of course. I mean, I was pretty sure it wouldn’t work, but... I’d never just try something like that on something that was still a part of someone. I’m not crazy. (Skinner flips through a few more pages.) What? Is something wrong?
(A pause.)
CLAUDIA SKINNER: Don’t, uh, worry about it.
Why did she react like this???
Because in Amy's account, she claimed that Adam didn't cut off her hair. So either Amy or Adam is lying, and Claudia now knows that at least one of them isn't being honest with her.
#There is a secret unhinged third option. #They actually CAN affect each other and Amy's gotten powerful enough to introduce evidence into his mind that they cannot. #Having your rival (and the world) believe you can't hurt each other with your respective magic is a hell of a strategic upper hand.
@boombox-fuckboy that would be INSANE as a twist. wouldn’t amy then need to do the same thing to the doomscroller? from my memory the doomscroller hasn’t directly interacted with adam or amy (i am a few episodes short of current right now). but he did Significantly help Shepard to win the election so…. to me at least it feels like there is some connection there that we don’t know.
True, but, hypothetically speaking, there's no current indication as to whether the Doomscroller has ever tried to know anything about either of them, and if they did we wouldn't know about it unless he a) made it public, and b) it didn't involve another non-harbinger they could point to as the source of the information being divined. Right?
The potential connection between Shepard's campaign and the Doomscroller is interesting, though. Have to wonder what's up there.
You know what would be funnier than Kris being the Doomscroller? Andie as the Doomscroller. Clearing out the competition with relish.
Do I think that's actually true? Nah. But it would be funny.
This part of episode seven also kills me:
ANDREA SHEPHERD: It’s going to be okay.
ADAM BLACKWELL: You really don’t know that.
ANDREA SHEPHERD: I do, though. I... I knew the moment I walked into your office and saw you. This is someone who can do the impossible. Not the ring, not the magic, you. And very soon, everyone will know that. And I am so sure that this is where it all happens. This is where it all begins.
ADAM BLACKWELL: I know, you know. I know that you and Amy are friends. In case you were wondering. She used to talk about you a lot. When we were still at Sinclair.
ANDREA SHEPHERD: What did she say?
ADAM BLACKWELL: Just that... you’re kind. And clever. And have great hair.
ANDREA SHEPHERD: All very true.
ADAM BLACKWELL: Yeah. And... that she genuinely believed with all her heart that you were gonna save the world one day. And that you had this incredible ability to let people see what they were actually capable of. Even when they... didn’t want to.
ANDREA SHEPHERD: Jesus Christ, Stirling... Gah, she always saves the best stuff for when you’re not around to stop her, you know.
ADAM BLACKWELL: Yeah, I know.
(They both laugh a bit.)
Why does it kill me? Because:
1. Andrea is basing her pep speech to Adam on the one Amy gave her. This by itself is so, so sweet, but it's also a little like Amy is cheering Adam on here.
2. Adam seems to recognize this type of pep speech enough to bring up Amy up right afterwards.
3. Apparently Adam and Amy didn't just argue in grad school. They talked about Andie and how much Amy admired her. Despite the rivalry between them, they were close enough for Amy to share something very personal with him.
4. Adam knows that Amy "always saves the best stuff for when you're not around to stop her." I have no idea how he knows that, but it's very cute.
yessssss that was such a Moment
It also makes me think about how Amy has referred to Adam as her ex, which I find more striking than Skinner doing so. The latter I read as Skinner trying to provoke reactions. But Amy calls him her ex after one date? And then, the way Adam knows Amy like this?
Lies. I think the "it was one date" thing is a lie they (at some point) agreed on as the story to tell. I'm not pinning down what it was/defining what they're hiding, but: they are HIDING something in some shared kind of way... The date story is a limited hangout :')
And another thing: Amy asking her advisor if she wants to know if Adam is a good kisser or not. Weird from someone who never kissed him as far as we know.
god i am so fucking insane about amy sterling and adam blackwell. they’re the same person. they’re polar opposites. she has the worst inferiority complex and he is the guy who always won. when faced with power, adam chooses to hide in the shadows while amy literally finds the nearest spotlight. they’re both so fucking annoying. the biggest hypocrites you’ve ever seen. i’m chewing on them gshskfisjdlemdjfg

Audio Dramas I Listen To and Something I Like About Them
Currently In My Listen Roster (They might be on hiatus or finished as a series, but I'm not caught up yet.)
Hi Nay: It'll give you one piece of information and then later another piece of information, and then you'll have a moment where you make a connection and realize that such and such character is the character you heard about in the other episode.
World Gone Wrong: Captures the experience of going through a crisis and still having to worry about the mundane aspects of life.
Under the Electric Stars: Quality cyberpunk.
Heinous Investigations: Quality hijinks.
Witchpunk: Also quality cyberpunk.
Mabel: Very avant-garde.
Hymns for the Road: The supernatural threats aren't scary because they're supernatural; they're scary because they're abusive shitheads.
Wolf 359: Season Two has been mining the Season One finale for every bit of Consequences, and I love it.
Hannahpocalypse: It's doing it's own thing, and I will always respect that in a piece of art.
InCo: Come, micro-dose on a haughty prince getting bullied each episode by someone he thinks himself better than.
Red Valley: Every episode has me wanting to immediately listen to the next one to find out what's going on!
The Harbingers: The intrigue! The mystery! The unreliable narrators! This one deserves a massive fan base, and everyone should go listen to it right now.
Eeler's Choice: It has giant eels and B. Narr.
The Kingmaker Histories: Excellent shenanigans. Just loads of fun.
Back Again, Back Again: It's a deconstruction of Magical Teenager Chosen One fantasy.
Tales From the Singing Porch: A nice little unsettling tale each episode.
Project Gnosis: It's like an anime you can solely listen to!
Old Gods of Appalachia: It's an exploration of the awful underbelly of U.S. history.
The Strange Case of Starship Iris: The crew is being covertly recorded, and upon learning this, they began to act differently and say different things.
Two Thousand and Late: Very snappy back and forth dialogue.
Where the Stars Fell: I love the dynamic between the two leads.
Malevolent: Threshold: This is a great follow up to a great series.
Welcome to Night Vale: There are not many shows that can run for as many seasons as WtNV and still get a laugh out of the audience.
The Black Chest: The episodic stories are engaging.
Station 404: Great humor. Bingeing this one cheered me up on a day when I was feeling absolutely awful.
Star Files: This one just started, but I think it's neat.
Welcome to Isaiah: This one just started, but I like that it was inspired by AI psychosis.
Dominus: This one just started, but I'm here for the priest yaoi.
The Lion and the Adder: This one just started, but the lead is delightful.
The Mechadova Engine: This one just started, but the lead's enthusiasm is infectious.
The Disappearances of Lydia Fountayne: This one just started, but the reveal at the end of the pilot has me hooked.
Dustwalker: The characters are conspiring to overthrow the shitty government without the story bending over backwards to try to convince me that they're paragons of saintliness.
Twigs and Hearts: The Fey through the lens of 1950s sitcoms.
On Hiatus/Between Seasons
The Magnus Protocol: A really great follow up to one of the greatest audio dramas out there.
The Gospel of Haven: Gorgeous opening music, a solid story, and fascinating worldbuilding.
Camp Here and There: Toxic yaoi in Ohio!
Killjam XXX: Brilliant satire and action.
Camlann: Really interesting worldbuilding.
Project: Daydream: What if, instead of a character who was a trans woman dying, she was revealed to have superpowers instead?
Ones I Finished That Shouldn't Be Forgotten
The Pasithea Powder: Please listen to this one. It's amazing. Just wonderful intrigue and plot arcs.
The Magnus Archives: If you're somehow reading a post about audio dramas and are unfamiliar with The Magnus Archives, yeah, this is another one of the greats. Please go listen to all 200 episodes. Highlight is the worldbuilding.
Unwell: Just absolutely wonderful. This is another standout audio drama. The character work is the highlight.
Mirrors: It does both it's horror and scifi aspects really well.
The Silt Verses: Wonderfully done satire. Absolutely heartbreaking. This is another one of the greats.

during an interaction: and why not put a little spin on it? why not add some conversational zest?
Merlin: professional rage baiter.
Honestly I think more media needs to take notes from Wolf 359. On a lot of things really but specifically from having the Dear Listeners learn English from Doug. Enough aliens speaking in perfect but extremely rigid and formal human languages. MORE aliens using a shitload of slang and pop culture references because they learned their human language from someone who calls himself Dougie Fresh
