Day 1: A Fax to Mitch McConnell

Senator McConnell,

I noticed that the executive branch signed an executive order that limited funding to organizations that provide abortions to women abroad. I also noticed that you are dedicated to defunding Planned Parenthood. As someone who has received non-abortion related health services from Planned Parenthood, and who is aware that planned parenthood Does not use federal funding for abortions I have grown increasingly frustrated at your party’s war on women. Since it seems that the Republican party has a fundamental misunderstanding of women’s health, I decided to take it upon myself to educate you on the female anatomy as best as I can. Since I am not a gynecologist, I will be including some suggestions for further reading based on the topic that I talk about. The white house is not the only thing that’s leaking! I also happen to be on my period this week! (See the press leak joke I made there?). With this fax I hope to start your journey towards understanding the uterus. Let’s begin!

Lesson 1

As you currently do not know, every month, upon not being pregnant a woman will lose an egg through the shedding of her uterine walls. The experience is different for every woman but I will tell you mine. Every month since I was twelve years old I have experienced very painful periods. The pains, called cramps, are caused by the same hormones that cause labor pains. So I’ve been experiencing mild labor since the seventh grade. Have you ever tried to learn Spanish or calculus II with a constant feeling of being kicked in the lower abdomen? Some of the other symptoms of period include mood swings, depression, bloating, weight gain, acne, lethargy, and migraines. I carry a handy dandy bottle of painkillers with me to get through the day, but I never find it particularly helpful. Today was day 1 of my period and the flow was mild, meaning the cramps were here and there. My migraines were killer though! And I am so bloated I feel like a walkin’ butt-tootin’ balloon. Aside from painkillers, something that has been medically proven to ease these symptoms is birth control! It is such a shame that birth control is stigmatized as something loose and nasty women use to medicate their immorality, and I dearly hope that you will energize your majority towards providing women with affordable access to birth control. You know who provides affordable access to birth control? Planned Parenthood!

Now I am a tired college student who must attend to her homework, but if I get to fax you again I will tell you the story of how my cramps once got so bad I thought I was dying and received free medical services from a Planned Parenthood doctor! I hope that this letter leaves you with an appreciation for the uterus as well as the urge to use my taxes to fund women’s health and not a divisive racist border wall!

Suspect Derrick A. Price didn’t spit, didn’t kick, didn’t threaten. He knelt and then lay on the pavement, hands outstretched, when arrested by sheriff’s deputies in a community south of Ocala.

Then he was beaten.

“Stop resisting!” at least one deputy called out, as Price reacted to the blows.

Five ex-Marion County deputies now face possible prison terms. As they captured Price, video captured their conduct.

A federal grand jury in Tampa charged the last of the disgraced lawmen late Tuesday, accusing Jesse Alan Terrell, 33, of violating Price’s civil rights. Four of Terrell’s former colleagues had already pleaded guilty to the crime after accepting plea agreements.

Video showed what Marion Sheriff Chris Blair saw before suspending the deputies — without pay — four days after the Aug. 7, 2014, incident.

It captured deputies kneeing, kicking and pummeling a prostrate man, with no sign of resistance, while one sat on his legs. It showed a puddle of blood where his face had rested.

Price suffered facial abrasions, swelling and bruised ribs, but was not hospitalized.

tfw when idiots on tumblr who know jack shit about thermo assume the dude is ‘correcting misinformation’ when actually he’s dead ass wrong. ‘Spontaneous’ is a scientific term - it means a reaction with a negative Gibb’s free energy, i.e. a reaction that will occur without an external energy input, i.e. water boiling because of low atmospheric pressure. Spontaneous is absolutely the correct term for what she’s observing, and that is ‘simple thermo’, and this is ‘correcting misinformation’.
