jacinta just kept looking at him, waiting patiently ( for once ) for his answer. she giggled a little, knowing full well that he hadn’t answered the question, but she didn’t mind. “neither do i. i mean, i know the basics, but i’ve never done it before,” she said with a shrug.

Karp watched Jacinta and when she shrugged, he gave a full-fledged smile. “You speak as if it doesn’t matter. In fact, it does. Kisses are a sign of intimacy and closeness and in truth... I’ve never been close enough to a person to kiss them,” he said, his usually monotonous voice laced with a bit f a tease. “And here you are, shrugging about it.”

Karp blinked, the new information taking longer to process than usual. His emotions took it upon themselves to react (even without the alien’s prior consent, unusual) and he suddenly felt sheepish. He looked down and the briefest smile flashed across his lips. “I... don’t know how,” he admitted, not answering the question.

Isadora was walking out of the store, a few bags in hand. She had purchased ingredients to make gumbo, but the grocer didn’t have any of the spices she needed. Specifically, gumbo file powder. Isadora had driven her car to Auradon, driving all the way from New Orleans. Maybe she should give her mother a call? Tiana was probably busy with the restaurant and Isadora couldn’t call her father. He tended to want to chit chat instead of help and even though she loved her father, Isadora needed help with the gumbo recipe. Lost in her thoughts she bumped into someone and dropped her bag of canned goods, “Excuse me sugar, I was not paying attention.”

However, getting detention for the UMPTEENTH time was starting to rattle him (”Mr. Jookiba, do tell me why designing a laser core for your new blaster helps your robotics marks?” the teacher had said, to which Karp didn’t have the nicest response to). “An awareness of your surroundings will help avoid situations such as this,” Karp responded blankly. His eyes still looked a little disdainful. However, the alien still bent down to help her pick up her groceries. “-- Are you unable to keep your attention at its best? I know a few people who suffer from an illness that affects this. They have mechanisms for you to better your attention span.”

“Those two from the garbage disposal facility,” he said absently as he motioned to two exposed machines, probably desktop computers at one point. “My acquaintance from Kwelitkwan sent me an outdated holo-computer because he bought the newest edition.” Karp reminded himself that he had to buy the new one-- he just hoped the intergalactic shipping wasn’t too expensive. “And these two are my father’s old blasters that I have stolen.”

SAM KAWENA:

not for the first time, sammy cursed his van for being the slow piece of junk it was when he pulled up to auradon after most of the chaos had already taken place. he bolted out of his car, ignoring the fatigue he felt due to being in the car for so long, and ran straight for the hotel.

“ brah. ” he whispered, staring at the disaster zone, before stopping the first person he saw. “ hey, man, howzit going. uh - do you know any of the hawai’i kids ?? where they’re at or how solid they’re doing right now ?? yes ?? no ?? ”

Karp had a run-in with a werewolf and, unfortunately, lost. He thought, being one of the stronger alien species (born, not created), that he could handle the feral mythical creature. Instead, he faced a gash along his browbone, the blue-purple blood streaming down his chiseled cheekbone. He was knocked out and had only come to when one of the emergency workers jolted him awake.

“-- Sam?” Karp called out. At first, he thought it was his mind playing tricks on him because of the concussion, but as his eyes scanned the crowd, he managed to see the other. “Sam!-- Let go, I need to see my family--” He was trying to wiggle away from the officials before looking back at the older male. “Sam!”

jacinta pouted at karp’s grumpiness. “i don’t know! i guess it depends on how you dance on kweltikwan, doesn’t it? but it’ll still be fun! i promise! pleeeeaaaase?” her pout switched to a grin as he became more open to the event. “good! it’ll be fun, i promise!”

“It also depends on how you dance on Earth,” Karp added, just to be... Karp. His demeanour was quick to lighten up as the two entered the ballroom. His eyebrows raised ever so slightly but that was the only reaction the decorations got. “-- Now, I understand there’s a certain starting position when you dance. Or am I looking too much into it?”

jacinta bounced up and down as she tugged on karp’s hands. the sooner they were inside that ballroom the better. “c’mon, c’mon, i wanna dance! let’s go, let’s go!” she was probably a little too excited, but she’d never danced with another person at an official event before.

“Let me guess, you dance differently on Earth than you do Kweltikwan,” Karp grumped, though he still let her pull him to the ballroom. He tugged at the collar of his suit, still a little upset that he couldn’t wear his own. However, his gaze softened the more he was exposed to the event. “I suppose I could get used to it.”
