This is a…sort of(?) re-do post of the one I posted in a community, because for some reason that post (and any others when I post in communities) just will not appear on my blog I’ll post three more related pieces of concept art under the cut so it’s not wholly similar to the one here.

OG Post: l've been making a ton of concept art for this idea I had about a liminal space-inspired game where you explore different nostalgia themed levels to find someone who ended up stuck in here. I'm close to finishing the written concept for the first intended level and currently figuring out the cast list for it, which you can see here! It's a hotel level with the NPCs being inspired by space and astrology that constantly wear pajamas, along with some outliers, like Dorian the Doorman.

In short: it's Fran Bow meets Liminal Spaces. Though I suppose that games's setting is already pretty liminal in of itself. The concept of a liminal space inspired game is probably past its prime, but I enjoy making it anyways. It gets me to do things I don't usually do.

These are the initial concept pages for the game, featuring the main character and her boyfriend, cutscene concepts, and a concept of a chef character that has yet to have a colored character sheet.

Might be a bit self indulgent but I wanna imagine some kind of reason why the Kulfi were still around when Shadow of the Destroyer and Wings of Eternity happened

The other Wild Spices (other than the small moment with Pepper Pangolin Cookie) seem to not like them at all, and Cilantro Cobra Cookie expresses glee when she believes that she’ll be able to get their tribe when she catches the Elder Kulfi helping Golden Cheese Cookie. But if they’re so disliked, then why hasn’t Burning Spice Cookie gotten rid of them already?

I imagine he has some kind of twisted attachment to them. When don’t see the only other confirmed spice, Turmeric Pig, by his side in the present of the story, but we do see that the Kulfi are still with him even after he became the Great Destroyer. They’re the last spices that tie him to the past, one (I assume) he’s tried to bury, considering his reaction to Golden Cheese Cookie’s assumption of him, but unlike the Turmeric Pigs, they’re still around.

I think he believes, or knows, that they’re much more clever than the others assume. We do know that the Elder has a few other tricks up his sleeve despite being called a “sniveling wretch” (by Burning Spice Cookie, nonetheless), so I assume he’s given them a lot of chances because what they lack in strength, they make up for in their knowledge of the land. He should know his own temple better than anyone, so why didn’t he check the shortcut Golden Cheese, Smoked Cheese, and the Elder Kulfi took, and instead went outside to look for her? I think he was expecting them to come out from there, and was feigning his obliviousness to their location because it’s too big of a coincidence to be right in front of the shortcut the person you’re looking for took.

Again, this is purely me being self indulgent and speculating, but it’s been on my mind for a while.

Fuck being normal, Burning Spice Cookie would like sculpting clay pots and weaving. Creating artwork is therapeutic to him. He likes the freedom of how art can be shaped and molded however one wants. Why not. I don’t care if canon dictates he’s a homicidal maniac, if I have to do any more research to write a character exactly like canon for the 400th time I’m gonna be the one destroying civilizations.

Tomodachi Life is so funny and yet it pisses me the Hell off because what do you mean the (debatably) canon relationship I have been trying to carefully curate and keep together has the character most infatuated with their other half wanting to divorce, when she would not do that, keeps trying to get divorced, while the fuckass crackship the game threw on me involving the most timid woman in the world and the fucking GOD OF DESTRUCTION is going on so strong that they’re going to have a SECOND. KID?!?! I can’t even get my own OCs who’re canonically together to have ONE?? This game is insanity

I’ve just been stewing about the CRK update because despite being emotionally checked out for it everything I learned *afterwards* started pissing me off actually and made me go “I need to make my AU rewrite even MORE rewritten because all the ideas I have cannot possibly be quenched” so I’m going to throw out ideas in no particular order because if I had to think about this so will you 🫵

Obviously CRK Spoilers ahead!

White Lily Cookie reaches GingerBrave while he’s with Ultimate Cookie and tries to cheer him up, but he confesses he knew the truth about Cookies too and told her not to worry about it because he knew if she knew it wouldn’t have gone well

The Beast Cookies minus Silent Salt Cookie run away from Beast-Yeast and become vagabonds in order to avoid being sealed away again

White Lily Cookie post-war now looks like how she did in Beast-Yeast EP 12, to the mixed reception of the other Cookies

Golden Cheese Cookie and White Lily Cookie have a private heart to heart and slowly become friends again

The Beast Minions live with each Ancient thanks to both the Beast Cookies having to go off the grid since Silent Salt Cookie is hunting them down and having homes to go to in Crispia

Ultimate Cookie begins undergoing a stabilization process. It isn’t going well and they’re more like a scared child than a threat

MyCookie gets kidnapped and turned into a monster and Cream Ferret Cookie is barely able to recognize them before calming them down. They get turned back to normal but it’s very traumatizing (inspired by Moomin’s “The Hat”)

Dark Choco Cookie takes Chess Choco Cookie under his wing to take care of them

GingerBrave inherits the sword of Little Giant Cookie and also awakens. He has the Light of Bravery because I SAID SO (this is a reference to him being the only common in Ovenbreak with a Magic Candy)

The Beast Cookies get a slight character arc by using their vices to help Cookies they meet along the way (ie. Burning Spice Cookie uses destruction to defend the helpless, Mystic Flour Cookie is essentially a doctor, etc.)

GoldenLily is canon fuck you I control the bus/j

Dark Enchantress Cookie, instead of fully going away, becomes something called the Glint of Ambition (they’re like the Lights but a bit more subdued) thanks to her fusing with White Lily Cookie

Pure Vanilla Cookie actually has a terrible relationship with feelings and emotions and Golden Cheese Cookie knows that which is why she has to practically tell him to confess to White Lily Cookie (even if she doesn’t look like herself/even if she also has feelings for White Lily Cookie)

GingerBrave and White Lily Cookie have a sibling-esque relationship

Clotted Cream Cookie is also searching for the Beasts. He doesn’t know about them exactly, but he’s heard rumors of a traveling group of Cookies that seem to have the supernatural ability to help Cookies out and he needs to know why it bothers him so much

The Beast Cookies entrusted their Soul Jams to their minions so Silent Salt Cookie would have less incentive to recapture them

Pomegranate Cookie is highly parasocial to White Lily Cookie

Pastry Cookie and Red Velvet Cookie reunite and properly discuss where to go forward now that Dark Enchantress Cookie is gone. Red Velvet Cookie ends up deciding to open a ranch for Cake Monsters and Pastry Cookie helps

Seltzer Cookie and Menthol Cookie are helped to a nearby town by the vagabond Beasts (vagabeasts?) and make a home there

Licorice Cookie takes in Poison Mushroom Cookie as an apprentice so they won’t be separated

Choco Werehound Brute ends up soul-searching and becomes proper friends with Princess Cookie because they *kinda* have a few things in common

Silent Salt Cookie believes White Lily Cookie is dead and is completely fine with it. Burning Spice Cookie, who also believes she’s dead, is surprisingly not fine with the implication that he let her die to end the war and has lost any and all respect for him

The Beasts have a lil Might of the Ancients moment in Crispia (Eternal Sugar Cookie figures out how to make a fire, they’re all gathered telling tales, etc.)

Custard Cookie ||| and the Pure Vanilla Kingdom end up throwing a banquet to celebrate the end of an era

The Dough Cookies end up living in the Cookie Kingdom despite GingerBrave’s discomfort. The four gradually realize that they were all just forced into roles they never wanted to be in and reconcile

GingerBrave and White Lily Cookie have a discussion about alternate worlds (semi-canonizing the collab events because I’m a sucker for crossovers) and GingerBrave asks for her to come to the kingdom when another one happens. She agrees

The way Dark Enchantress Cookie is restrained before she becomes one with White Lily Cookie is by being physically restrained by Millennial Tree Cookie’s vines. The other Legendaries also use their magic to distract her whilst this happens, and when she’s almost fully encased White Lily Cookie jumps into a closing gap to reach her, scaring the others into believing she might’ve died. DE ends up having a humanizing breakdown whilst trapped in the vines that are essentially forming a cocoon and White Lily Cookie has enough time to reach out to her and have her agree to become one once again

The Beast Cookies call out Silent Salt Cookie’s own lust for vengeance while he has them imprisoned, basically yelling at him that he’s essentially traded the lives of multiple Cookies and Earthbread as a whole for their capture. He blocks this out because he hates them

Clotted Cream Cookie eventually calls out the nomads as the Beast Cookies, but quickly regrets doing that as they have changed (not by much, but it proves that they can) and essentially has to race against the clock to get them to a safe place before 1. a bunch of bounties are placed on their heads, or 2. Silent Salt Cookie finds them

Therapy is established in the Cookie World. This was a semi-joke but it gives me an excuse to canonize Dr. Bones Cookie into Kingdom

And that’s all for now! I do still have a place in my heart for CRK, but the finale just doesn’t do it for me. If I can I want to discuss why it bothers me in the future with some comparisons to other characters but yeah ✌️
