When they said Humankind was going to be the "Civ-Killer", i thought it was from being the better game, not because it would make Firaxis kill the franchise trying to copy it

This is like the "Two cakes" scenario, but in reverse

You had half a baked caked, and noticed someone making a brownie, so you try to make a brownie out of your half-cake. In the end the people you noticed botch the cooking and yours tastes like ass.

Instead of getting a bad brownie and a cake you can at least eat, you get two horrible sad brownies and have to survive on leftover cake from the fridge (Civ 5/6).

Holy shit! Just found my first Occlupanid in the wild, i've seen the research by Aeons (2025), but never one in person.

Didnt know they inhabited South America (could it be a specimen that got lost? Or a new migration?)

I suppose it was born in the country, as it was attached to local bread.

Lets be honest people, being cancelled is probably for the best.

The show was on a downwards spiral since Cappaldi, and its only been getting worse and worse. I, at least, prefer no DW than seeing its lifeless husk being flung around into the walls.

In my opinion, the best course of action is to let things rest for a while, then reboot the show with a completly different structure. (And no constant nostalgia bait).

My main opinion is that they should bring back the long adventures from classic DW, instead of focusing on the episodic stuff ( Like, going to a place, and staying there for multiple episodes, instead of having to cramm it all into one).

The adventures were compressed down because people watching on the telly would get lost if they didnt watch an episode of it, but nowadays no one even watch stuff on the TV anymore, its all streaming, so theres no reason we cant have longer arcs again.

They have literally the entire history of the world, plus the entire universe to explore, its basically impossible to run out of ideas.

MY THOUGHTS ON THE TADC FINALE

(No direct spoilers but going to tag it anyway)

I really liked the episode, but there were a few weird pacing issues. I think the finale would probably have been better if it was just the last episode.

More towards the end, the pacing issues start to get worse and worse. It desperatelly needed some better transitions (no spoilers). The last few scenes started feeling like an appendix of an appendix. (It felt basically like Gooseworx was going "AND ALSO" at least 3 different times).

The end itself was predictable, and anyone saying otherwise hasn't really watched the show, but even despite that it was really enjoyable, since they built quite a lot on it. One criticism i've seen online is the lack of closure, and in my opinion its actually a good thing for the show (I hope they dont blow it by forcing a second season), since its easy to see that its done on purpose and not by accident/lack of planning. The "open-endedness" fits well with the point of the show, and puts the last video by Door Monster (2026) in an interesting position (really hope she does a follow up when the finale launches in youtube).

The Lost comparison on the video puts into perspective the differences between generations/times, and how each saw the state of the world. Bittersweet would be a good word to describe it.

My unpopular opinion is that the last episode focused a bit too much on Jax for my taste, but I can see why it was done, as it was more a question of not having enough time for everything.

Also, what an amazing analog experience is seeing a cosplayer cry and sob on the seat besides me.
