David stood by the large window on the second floor of Xavier’s school, eyes looking out and onto the grounds as he watched the many people walking by. Luckily, not many people seemed to hover around on the steps, at least not today. So he only had to be around others when they occasionally walked by. It wasn’t that he didn’t enjoy the company of other people, he just wasn’t sure how to deal with it or what they’re reaction would be when they found out about him. Hearing the sound of footsteps behind him, David kept his focus on the world outside, only turning to look at the person when he heard them say something. “I didn’t catch that,” he told them.
Erik glanced at him for a moment before answering. "I was simply stating that you seem a bit distracted." It was as close as Erik could really get to asking if someone was alright. The man introgued him, although he wasnt entirely sure as to why that was. But he reminded him of someone, he just couldn't figure out who.
She had been counting the days she had been locked up, watching the time tick by while she sat in one place, Unmoving and serene -at least from outward appearances-She would have teleported out of the room already if it weren’t for the power negator in the room holding her. She was truly trapped and at the school’s mercy. For now.
Because of how quiet it had been during her captivity here, Blink welcomed the sound of footsteps outside, the door swinging open to reveal someone eltering her cell. Maybe they had decided she was finally safe enough to be in a room with now. Hopefully they would let her out of here. But she doubted that woud be the case.
”Have you come to let me out, or are you here to taunt me?”
Erik arched an eyebrow. "I don't see why those are my only options. I'm actually here to ask questions, simply out of mere curiosity." He crossed his arms as he surveyed her. He was more surprised than he wanted to admit at Blink's betrayal. He didn't trust easily but Clarice had seemed too kind to be a threat to them, to turn on them. But he knew now he was wrong. "How long have you been aligned with them?"
Most people are born with three names tattooed on their wrist: Their true love, their biggest enemy, and their greatest ally. You only have one name.

Max was not often quiet or still. Except around animals. Then he found a peace he could not normally muster, a quiet that people told him they had when they read or sat still. At the edge of the grounds, Max could hear the animals nearby– sense them in a way. A yearling deer, just past being a fawn, was quite near and Max called to them. They were skittish, as deer tended to be, but Max had a knack for getting them to trust him. He stood, hand outstretched with a few berries he’d picked in it.
The deer was walking closer when it, and Max, heard a noise. The yearling backed up quickly, clearly torn between running and going to Max. “Shh!” he told the person behind him, not turning to look. He knew it was no animal– he couldn’t hear their thoughts. “Come on,” he called to the deer. “Come here.”
Erik watched his son with the deer, slowly coming towards him. It reminded him of Nina, how she'd befriend any animal. She would have liked Max. And she would have been thrilled to have a big sister and a brother like Pietro.
He smiled as his son shushed him, eyes fixed on him. "You're gifted," he whispers, knowing Max will hush him again.

Three children. Three living children. It’s insane, really, mind blowing. Erik had thought that he had none left, that he was alone. That he had no family left. But Pietro had confronted him before going to the Clan, ordered him to look out for Wanda. And Erik couldn’t shake it. Pietro was right. He’d failed them in many ways. But I didn’t know they existed. But somehow that didn’t make him feel any better.
Erik pauses at the door of the infirmary, nerves racking. He takes a slow breath before walking inside. As he passes the Saylor boy, who was hanging by a thread after using his own life force to save Ophelia Ward, he pauses slightly. He was lucky to be alive, it could have killed him. He’d given her almost every bit of his life that he had, and now he was comatose. But he was sure the boy would say it was worth it. The boy was expecting to die, Erik had seen it himself, heard the boy’s goodbye.
That was what love was, wasn’t it? Erik thought for a moment. He would give his life for Charles, or Raven. there was no doubt. He would do it for Max, and now, only within the short time of knowing their relation, he would do it for Pietro and Wanda. He moves finally, away from the boy to his son. He sits by the bed, watching him. “How are you?” he finally asks, knowing how pathetic it sounds, how distant. but he doesn’t know how to do this, how to have adult children. but he wants to.

Charles had been exhausted, barely sleeping or eating he looked like a skeleton. It was hard having to rely on someone he didn’t entirely trust, but no other telepath was granted the power Betsy had. He needed her now, so he made a deal with her to alert him of the Clan’s intentions. She only helped after he implored her and begged her over and over. He even had to let her in on the problem with Jean. He couldn’t exactly enlist Jean to get rid of an entity within herself, so the alliance with Betsy had to be done. Tired eyes met Erik’s before he turned his attention to the kids as well, “Magneto is going to protect us as he always does, don’t worry little ones.”
Within his mind, he spoke to Erik only, “Can we just stay here? I don’t think it’s our safest bet with the Clan approaching from this side.”
Erik watches Charles, his mind racing. “I don’t either. But I know Isla’s parent will probably be looking for her.” He looks around the room. “I can go out patrol the nearby halls, make sure that no one can get to us in here. Maybe find a route to a safer place.”
But something else has been bothering him too. If Clan Akkaba is here, then where is his older son? His mind is still haunted by what the silver haired young man had told him. That he was the father of the Maximoffs. He’d met Wanda. She didn’t like him much, but apparently she was his daughter. That’s three children. Three children he didn’t know he had. And Pietro was out there somewhere, as was Wanda.

Max looks up at his dad and nods, trusting him to be telling the truth. “Okay. So we just have to stay in here then?” It didn’t seem to bad. He could feel the tension in the room though as he began bouncing his leg up and down. “How long?”
Erik hesitated. “I don’t know yet.” He watches Max with a careful look. “But you know that I won’t ever let anything happen to you. Ever. You’re my son. I will protect you as long as I’m breathing Max.”

Now… Where were we?

Max liked homeroom. He loved having a full hour to just colour and do what he wanted. Of course, he often got distracted from his colouring and did things that would get him in trouble elsewhere, but Professor Xavier seemed to be more patient with him than any teacher he’d met. Max was jumping around the room by the end of the hour though, until he heard his father’s voice crackle over the intercom.
“What’s that mean? A lock down?”
Erik feels his gaze soften on the young boy. He kneels next to him, arm resting on his knee. "It means.. It means no one is coming in or out of school right now. But everything is ok. You know that right?I'll never let you get hurt."
prcfessorx:
Charles raised an eyebrow and spoke for Erik thinking he knew what was going to be said, “Ahh Max. He’s a very energetic isn’t he? A bit hard for him to focus sometimes, but he’s doing pretty well with me. You just have to be patie–”
He was cut off by Betsy’s voice inside his head, a glazed over look was on his face for a moment before he turned back to Erik. He’d made a deal with her to protect the kids and it wasn’t so hard to get her to agree to it for their sake. She cared about her students even if she pretended she didn’t, she would have been a good X-man if she’d just let go and she what Apocalypse was. “Erik… you need to warn. They’re coming and we need to lock down the classes. I’ll round up the little ones in the safe room.”
Erik looked at him for a moment before lurching into movement. He went directly to the phone system and hit the intercom button. “The school will have an immediate Lock Down. All students stay in your first periods. If you are outside, get inside immediately. If you are alone, find others. Do not panic, we will handle the situation.”
He turned to Charles and the kids, eyes weary. “We’ll be fine,” he told the kids, eyes sweeping over them. “It’s going to be alright. We promise.”
