Never underestimate the power of a comment fanfic readers.

I received one yesterday on a fic I wrote in 2020. I re-read that fic this morning. I fell back in love with that au version of Cherik. My mind would not let them go. I am writing a sequel to that fic and I’m 1,123 words in.

I don’t know if the fic will ever see the light of day, but if it does?

It will be thanks to that one comment.

I ended up writing almost 1,700 words.

Wow.

As I haven’t written anything in nearly a year it was an unexpected blessing for the words to flow once more.

Also, I didn’t stop because I was stuck, but because it was bed time. The words are still percolating. Maybe there’s more to come.

All because of a one sentence comment.

I just got some heartbreaking news. @codenamecesare (aka almostnever, aka cesare) passed away unexpectedly last Saturday. Ces was a dear friend and collaborator; she was active in Lotrips, Stargate Atlantis, X-Men, and Dead Boy Detectives fandoms. She was also a major contributor to Fandom Wank and was one of the initial players in the Establishment RPF RPG.

Ces was a brilliant writer, an excellent artist, and an incredibly funny person. She was part of a small private group chat I was in, and to this day I still use phrases she came up with. Since she was located in the Bay Area, I was lucky enough to hang out with her on occasion. She loved complicated characters and cats and was generous with her time and talents. She will be missed.

Funniest joke in Masters of the Universe--out of the one billion jokes they're making all the time--is that clearly they intended to do one of those CGI Captain America things to make a roided out Nicholas Galitzine into a wee little man when he's not He-Man, but they didn't quite have the budget for that, so they just put him in a pink buttondown shirt and pretended he was husky. Pic related.
