Hi there, journalist anon again with some stuff (Part 1)!

The latest development in our thought experiment changes the situation quite dramatically. After returning from his home country (without his supposed girlfriend being there) the actor immediately travels to the city where Season 2 will begin filming. His co-star is already there, and instead of simply arriving shortly before production starts, the two spend roughly ten days together before filming begins. And this is not a single controlled appearance. They are photographed and filmed by fans and at least one paparazzo while having dinner, getting coffee, shopping, carrying supermarket bags, going to the cinema, and working out together. They are repeatedly seen walking around together, often in very close physical proximity. Their arms appear to touch while walking, and their overall interaction is perceived by many observers as unusually comfortable and affectionate. Another detail quickly becomes part of the media narrative: the two are repeatedly wearing similar or "matching" outfits. That becomes one of the main angles in the coverage. And something else is notable: the girlfriend essentially disappears from the story. This is where the thought experiment becomes particularly interesting from a PR perspective. Is this a PR strategy? It could be. But the evidence would not allow us to conclude that it is. If a PR team deliberately wanted to generate attention around the two actors, this would actually be a very different strategy from the girlfriend campaign we discussed earlier. Instead of manufacturing isolated romantic-looking moments, the team would be allowing the actors to be seen repeatedly in ordinary situations: getting coffee, shopping, eating, going to the gym, going to the cinema. That is much more powerful from a storytelling perspective because it creates the impression of an everyday relationship rather than a staged red-carpet appearance. The "matching outfits" narrative is particularly interesting because it is exactly the kind of detail that can emerge organically from repeated appearances. A PR team could potentially encourage or facilitate coverage, but they cannot fully control how fans photograph the actors, what they notice, or which details journalists decide to emphasize. There is another important distinction here. If the actors really are spending ten private days together before filming, the PR team may not be creating the story at all. They may simply have recognized that the public is already interested and decided not to suppress it.

(Part 2): That would be a fundamentally different strategy. Instead of saying, "Let's create a narrative about these two," the strategy would be: "There is already a narrative. Don't fight it." From a modern PR perspective, that can be extremely effective. The contrast with the girlfriend narrative in our thought experiment is striking. The girlfriend strategy required visible effort: trips together, events, social-media posts, public appearances, and eventually her own Instagram account. Yet it repeatedly produced inconsistencies. The co-star narrative, by contrast, requires very little apparent effort. The actors simply spend time together, and other people document it. That distinction matters because audiences tend to perceive the second type of story as more authentic. The PR question is: Which story is now winning the audience's attention? And in this hypothetical scenario, it is clearly no longer the girlfriend story. The media is talking about the two actors. Fans are documenting the two actors. The dominant visual narrative consists of the two actors. Even the language used by entertainment outlets ("matching outfits," spending time together, being inseparable) centers on their relationship with each other. The girlfriend has effectively disappeared from the narrative without the PR team having to announce anything. That creates a fascinating possibility: perhaps the most effective PR strategy at this point would be to do absolutely nothing. If the team deliberately arranged the situation, then they have moved from a highly controlled relationship narrative to a much more subtle strategy based on organic visibility. If they did not arrange it, they may simply be recognizing that fighting an organic narrative is counterproductive. Either way, the fundamental PR lesson remains the same. You cannot manufacture chemistry as easily as you can manufacture a photograph. You can arrange two people to stand next to each other on a red carpet, but you cannot easily manufacture the feeling that audiences perceive when they watch two people interact naturally over a period of days. And that is precisely why this development would be so difficult for the original girlfriend strategy to compete with. The irony of the thought experiment is that the actor's strongest public narrative may now be emerging without anyone having to sell it.

August Career Readings: Hudson and Connor 🐦‍⬛

Note: Happy first day of season two filming everyone!! As a gift I’m posting my August career spread. This was originally read on July 28. I know this post is a bit late, but hopefully I’ll be more on time for September!

The Ten of Wands suggests that Connor will be working very hard this month! He might be working on multiple projects this month and not just season two of Heated Rivalry. I also get the feeling of a major project wrapping up, maybe Transaction Planet finally? Like it’s hard work going on but the fruit of the labour is going to be so worth it.

Despite him working so hard, the Wolf & Rosehip reminds us that he is not alone, and he has his pack (awooo??). He also might be stepping into a leadership role, which is interesting cause the theme of leadership constantly shows up for me when I read Connor. There’s also a strong loyalty to his work and his craft and the people he works with. Loyalty is also always a theme I see for Connor. When he’s invested in something, he’s invested. There’s also a protective energy here around his craft and the people around him.

With the rose hip, it represents divine love and preparation. There’s a lot of love for his work and craft.

Cards: Five of Coins (The Little Match Girl) + Bee & Pomegranate (Productivity) Reversed

Very little visibility (Five of Coins) this month or stretches of where we get nothing, most likely when filming starts for Heated Rivalry. We might be feeling a bit starved for content like a little orphan girl. It looks like he will be busier with work (Bee & Pomegranate Rx) rather than showing us work. Again, very hard-working guy. If we do see him, I imagine we will see him in candid, non-working scenarios.

Career Focus

Cards: Page of Swords (Princess Parizade) + Boar & Pumpkin (Confidence)

With the Page of Swords, I get the feeling he’s diving deep into script analysis and character work and preparation for season 2 and possibly other upcoming projects. Any challenges that come his way will be approached with curiosity and optimism.

The Boar & Pumpkin also shows a lot of resilience and being thick-skinned. Any criticism or outside noise rolls off his back easily. He also might be becoming more confident in his abilities. As the Ten of Wands suggested, he’s really throwing himself into his work.

Biggest Public Moment

Cards: Page of Coins (Beaivi-Nieida) Moth & Eucalyptus (An Ending) Reversed

We are reaching an end-of-era energy! With Page of Coins, I’m thinking we might get some sort of announcement, such as casting, a new project being green-lit, or a contract. It’s all very early stages, so could also just be confirmation of something. Idk I’m feeling Marvel? Beaivi-Nieida’s story is about the end of winter and the promise of summer, so it could very well just be season two of heated rivalry filming confirmation. The announcement will come from a concrete source.

Moth & Eucalyptus Reversed is about reluctance to change. Hence where I feel like we might get confirmation of something that will be long-running in his career. However, with all these cards, there’s the theme of transitioning and change. We see this with Beaivi-Nieida’s as she brings winter to an end, and there are even reindeer on her card, where males also go through the natural shedding process that is an uncomfortable but necessary part of growth. I don’t see him leaving Heated Rivalry behind or anything like that, but instead a promise of what’s to come after it’s over.

Hidden Career Influence

Cards: Knight of Wands (Tatterhood) + Weasel & Pine (Introspection) Reversed

There’s a lot of fiery energy underneath everything. The Knight of Wands suggests Connor may be advocating strongly for his creative vision, acting on instinct, or pushing himself toward something he’s genuinely passionate about. There’s a lot of fired-up energy as he steps into August and what awaits him.

Even though everything is moving fast, he might be having some struggles being alone (Weasel & Pine Rx). There might be some hidden exhaustion or burnout. It warns that being alone or choosing to be alone (not relying on his pack) might take a toll on him.

Cards: Seven of Coins (Nanahuatzin) + Marten & Foxglove (Mischief) Reversed

With all this hard work he’s putting in, the Seven of Coins suggests he might be having some doubts about whether everything will pay off in the end. Something might be feeling like it’s taking longer than expected.

There could also be some miscommunication surrounding him, (Marten & Foxglove Rx) and when I did read this it felt a bit devious. I don’t say this to stress anyone out but to just be transparent. There might be changing plans that he wasn’t aware of or maybe some misleading information surrounding him.

What Fans Actually Notice

Cards: Ace of Cups (Matsuo's Sake) & Trout & Lily of the Valley (Purification)

This one is very cute! There’s a feeling of a return to happiness here. When we do see him, Ace of Cups shows that he looks like he’s glowing and relaxed. It feels very joyous when we see him, and I’m getting this like “boy in love” glow? The Hudson glow? The Trout & Lily further reinforces that. It feels like nature is healing in a way.

Surprise Opportunity

Cards: Eight of Coins (Six of Swans) + Rooster and Sunflower (Communication) Reversed

I kinda scratched my noggin at this one. The opportunity for him comes out of a miscommunication (Rooster & Sunflower Rx) and might allow him to showcase his craftsmanship (Eight of Coins) and how skilled he actually is. Maybe the miscommunication allows him to sharpen his skills. Maybe the show of skill has nothing to do with speaking at all, and he has the chance to show his facial range of acting.

Outcome of August

Cards: Three of Cups (Apsara) Reversed + Dragonfly & Pansy (Balance) Reversed

Now, hold my hand while I say this. The Three of Cups Reversed and Dragonfly and Pansy Reversed suggest there might be some leaks or gossip surrounding his love life or friendships. It seems like this could come from someone with an unhealthy obsession, aka any solos really. I don’t say this to scare people, but just so people can be prepared if anything does happen. As always please respect his privacy if anything does come out.

On the other hand, the Three of Cups Reversed could just be a manifestation of burnout after working hard all week. His social battery might be dead and need to recharge.

Other Themes and Patterns

Autumn: Boar & Pumpkin, Porcupine, Pomegranate, Sunflower, 7oP, PoP, 8oP

The biggest theme in this spread is abundance. This feels like a very harvest season month for him and putting his dead down and doing the hard labour. Right now he’s out in the field doing a lot of prep work that will later provide for his career, if that makes sense.

Defensive: Porcupine, Boar, Pumpkin, Pine, Eucalyptus, Foxglove, Rose Hip, Anemone

There’s also a theme of being defensive. To me it’s armour to not let outside energy interfere with his work. If something were to leak, I doubt it will reach him and affect him in anyway career wise.

Tricksters: Weasel, Marten, Porcupine

There might be a trickster figure in his inner work or personal circle, acting very sneaky. It’s a warning to be on your toes as the environment around him can be unpredictable.

Community (Wolf, Bee, Rooster) vs. Isolation (Weasel/Porcupine/Marten + 10oW, 3oC rx)

There’s a lot of juxtaposition between community and isolation this month. All the cards suggest that instead of isolating himself, which can lead to burnout, he should rely more on his community around him. That doesn’t mean there aren’t times for isolation and to work by yourself.

Sacrifice: Sagua’a/Timbó Tree, Nanahuatzin

There are some themes of sacrifice here, such as Sagua’a dying to grow the Timbó tree, and Nanahuatzin sacrificing himself in fire. It warns against burnout

Flight: Moth, Dragonfly, Bee, Rooster

There’s a lot of flying creatures in this spread, which could point to physical travel and communication surrounding him this month.

Elements

Fire: Ten of Wands, Knight of Wands, Rooster & Sunflower, Beaivi-Nieida, Nanahuatzin

Fire is really the only element worth pointing out. Fire shows momentum and passion fueling his career this month. We also might be seeing his career beginning the emergence from a “winter” hiatus and back into visibility.

There’s not much reason to point out the earth elements in this spread, as this is a career spread so getting earth elements isn’t surprising.

Advice for the Fandom

Cards: The Empress (Our Lady Guadalupe) Reversed + Porcupine & Anemone (Boundaries) Reversed

The advice the cards have for everyone is, don’t be a boy mom towards Connor. The Empress Reversed is telling us to resist smothering him and the Porcupine & Anemone Reversed are telling us to respect the boundaries he does have. If Connor does seem bristly this month, don’t take it personally or assign negative motives to it. He’s just preserving his energy. Respect his privacy as well.

The overall theme for Hudson is stepping into a student mindset with the Three of Coins. There’s a lot of excitement entering this month and he is eager to grow and refine his performance. He feels like an eager puppy in a way? Like so excited to be a sponge and soak up knowledge.

Mouse & Buttercup shows that Hudson is stepping into this month with humility and growth. He has a very adaptable mindset, open to trying new things and moves quickly. It’s just such a positive energy. Yipppeee!

Public Image

Cards: Two of Cups (Gilgamesh and Enkidu) + Otter & Cattail (Peace)

With the Otter & Cattail, I get a playful energy from Hudson. Otters are social little guys, so I immediately get an image of Hudson being perceived as someone comfortable, happy, and enjoying the people around him. When we see him in public, we will get very little toxicity and drama and just, peace. We might be in our controversy-free month. (Knock on wood!)

With Two of Cups, yes, I immediately thought about Connor. People will be seeing Hudson as the other half. There could be a focus on a strong rapport between him and his costars, not just Connor. We might see chemistry with him and other costars, and of course, Connor.

There’s also a possibility of the narrative continuing to focus on Hudson’s relationship with K, but honestly? I’m much less convinced about that here. But it’s a possibility that popped into my brain so I thought to mention it.

Cards: Nine of Wands (Vasilisa the Beautiful) + Crow & Dogwood (Intelligence) Reversed

A lot of his energy feels like it’s being put into long hours on set and battling self-doubt (Crow & Dogwood Rx) during filming. Nine of Wands tells us he’s pushing through despite coming out of the exhausting month of July. There’s also a defensive energy as if he’s guarding his energy and becoming more cautious of what he brings into his personal life.

One thing that always gets me to giggle, is that Vasilisa the Beautiful is a Baba Yaga myth, so maybe there’s some focus on Baba Yaga this month? Or because it’s in the reversed position it’s showing a focus away from Baba Yaga.

The Crow & Dogwood Reversed shows that Hudson might be having some imposter syndrome. There might be a tiny voice in the back of his head asking if he’s good enough or feeling like a fraud despite having repeatedly proven his talent. Hudson needs to remind himself that he has durability and intelligence to handle whatever crew or script throws at him.

The word death also came to mind when I got this card, Its not a literal death but a transformative death. Fun death.

Biggest Public Moment

Cards: The Devil (Boitatá) Reversed + Hawk and Thistle (Graceful Persistence)

I feel like the biggest moment for Hudson is stepping back into his own power. With the Devil Reversed, he might be stepping away from something like an old contract/commitment or shutting down some of the toxicity online. There could be a change in his career or professional team that gives him more control over his own career. There’s another scenario in my brain in what it could be that I don’t really wanna say aloud, but I’m squinting. Nothing bad I promise, I just don’t get how it’s career related yet.

The Hawk and Thistle shows, whatever the situation is, that Hudson handles it very well. He’s very observant of the things happening around him (media cycles, industry chatter, set dynamics) without getting caught up in it. When he chooses to speak or act, he does so with absolute precision and grace. He shows that he can handle pressure with composure and might be reinforcing his boundaries.

Hidden Career Influence

Cards: Five of Wands (Pandavas) Reversed + Trout & Lilly of the Valley (Purification)

Five of Wands suggests an end to the fighting. On a practical level, production logistics might be smoothing out or any creative friction is finally being cleared up. The Pandavas show a brotherly unity as everyone is agreeing to work for the good of the production. It’s family.

The Trout & Lilly of the Valley just further reinforces this theme of resolution. Any lingering toxic atmosphere surrounding Hudson is beginning to dissipate and workflow becomes very fluid and clean. There’s a steady, joyful environment for Hudson to look forward to. Overall very good vibes.

Challenge

Cards: Ten of Swords (Sedna) Reversed + Goat & Willow (Overcoming Obstacles) Reversed

I think July, and the months before, really exhausted Hudson. When I read him previously, there was always a theme of being tired and running on fumes, and while this month is more restorative for him (Ten of Swords Rx) it’s taking longer to shake off than expected (Goat & Willow Rx).

With his schedule, Hudson also might be feeling like he’s a bit off kilter and not being able to balance all the expectations well.

What Fans Actually Notice

Ace of Coins (Jack and the Beanstalk) Reversed + Ladybug & Sweet Pea (Happiness)

With Ace of Coins Reversed, there might be some hiccups, like maybe a mishap or some sort? Like maybe a weird outfit or weird pap photo. But it feels all very minor. It could also maybe point to not seeing him when we expected to for something.

When pulling for this question, Ladybug and Sweat Pea literally fell out, face up, which made me smile. Everyone will be more focused on how happy he looks and the joy radiating from him. So despite whatever little blip the Ace of Coins Reversed suggests, overall everyone will be more focused on the light-hearted joys and stuff.

Surprise Opportunity

Four of Coins (Condor’s Wife) + Moth and Eucalyptus (an ending) Reversed

Four of Coins suggests that a very lucrative opportunity might fall into his lap. He might be offered a brand collaboration, a new project or role that offers him long-term financial stability and greater control over his career and public image.

Note: On August 4, Hudson was officially announced as the new ambassador for skincare brand SKIN1004. 🙂‍↕️

With Moth and Eucalyptus reversed, I wonder if Hudson has been holding onto something familiar simply because it’s safe, or if the offer or opportunity is something that Hudson thought was off the table suddenly resurfaces. There might be some hesitation with this decision as well, but by letting go of whatever is holding him back this opportunity will be very good for him.

Outcome of August

Cards: The Hermit (Druid & White Stag) Reversed + Deer & Oat (Healing)

We will be getting some Hudhealings at the end of the month I think!

He got two deers in this reading! The Hermit Reversed tells us a period of isolation is coming to an end. We might be seeing more of an online presence from him such as posting BTS photos or book recommendations.

We also get two deers for Hudson, so there’s a big theme of gentleness, grace, and renewal, as the antlers represent life cycles. And when pulling this, my brain immediately went to Connor again, as I feel like there’s a strong theme of connecting with the people he trusts. It doesn’t have to just be Connor, but could be friends and family members. Oats also thrive even in depleted soil and provide nourishment. At the end of the month, Hudson finds a way to replenish his energy

Other Themes and Patterns

Healing: Willow, Eucalyptus, Deer & Oat, Lilly of the Valley, cattail, 10oS Rx, Devil Rx, 5oW Rx, Hermit Rx

August is so healing for Hudson. We always say Hudhealings for us, but what about Hudhealings for him? Hudson is undoing old patterns of overextension and learning how to balance career and health better. Botanically, the Willow acts as a natural pain reliever; Eucalyptus clears airways and protects; Oats replenish depleted soil; Cattails filter muddy waters; Lily of the Valley purifies. He is actively cleaning out toxic environments and purifying them. He’s also accepting support from the people around him.

Community: Mouse, Crow, Ladybug, Otter, Deer, Goat, Hermit Rx, 2oC, 3oP

He’s going to have a very social month career-wise, possibly reaching out to new people or building a stronger circle around him professionally. I think community is very important to him this month. Mutual respect is a baseline here as he reaches out and forms genuine connections.

Indicator Species: Trout, Otter

We got two indicator species. Indicator species allow us to see when an ecosystem is healthy based on their presence. This shows that Hudson is stepping into healthier environments but also that his wellbeing relies on environments clear from toxicity, conflict and chaos like Five of Wands Rx.

Flight; Crow, Hawks, Vulture, Condor, moth, ladybug

Like Connor, we got a lot of flight animals which again, could symbolize physical flights and travel, but also a flow of communication surrounding him. He might be travelling again in August.

Advice for the Fandom

Cards: The Wheel of Fortune (Anansi) Reversed + Vulture & Asphodel (Upheavals) Reversed

The Wheel of Fortune Reversed is basically saying, don’t doom. Anansi is a trickster and likes to spin complex webs, so be aware of trickster rumours surrounding Hudson and his career and don’t get caught in that web. If we have a bit of stagnation in the month from Hudson, don’t assume the worst, things are happening behind the scenes.

Also don’t be overdramatic about stuff (Vulture & Asphodel). If you see Hudson looking a bit tired in a pap photo or something, don’t assume he hates Heated Rivalry and needs to be freed or some other weird narrative. The Vulture warns against feeding on carrion (which could be past drama resurfacing, or dooming, etc). If you’re feeling anxious being in the fandom and how things are moving, it might be time to put down the phone for a little bit. Start by recognizing your own boundaries and what is not benefiting you and your happiness. Focus on facts instead of the social media echo chamber.

Note: This reading was approached a little differently from my usual readings because I’m a dumbass with ADHD and accidentally did the spread twice, once on August 4 and again on August 6, completely forgetting I had already done it. So I combined both spreads together!

The Narrative

First Reading: Wheel of Fortune (Sineya) + Dragonfly & Pansy (Balance) Reversed

Second Reading: Ace of Chalices + Elk & Ash (Strength)

When I first did this spread, the word that immediately came to mind was obsession.

The Wheel of Fortune marks a new, major cycle, and with Season 2 preparing for filming, everything is finally moving again after months of waiting. However, with the Dragonfly and Peony Reversed, there’s an unhealthy obsession surrounding them. On one hand, I do think this represents the paparazzi aspect of the situation as there were something like 80+ photos taken. On the other hand, it also reflects the fandom’s perception of Hudcon and the sheer amount of attention surrounding them.

The second reading is a bit more cutiful. The Ace of Chalices suggests that what draws people toward all this attention in the first place is the perception of a genuinely beautiful bond between them. It’s just very sweet. Whether you’re Hudcon-down or not, it’s difficult to deny there is such a long-lasting and strong foundation between them. I think what’s also drawing people to this, is the fact that despite Whatever else is going on around them professionally or within fandom, their relationship has endured (Elk & Ash) the outside craziness. There’s an overflowing cup of genuine warmth, love, and mutual comfort that is just so lovely.

What Is Fueling that Narrative?

First Spread: Three of Pentacles + Opossum & Peony (Bashfulness) Reversed

Second Spread: Three of Scythes + Duck & Chrysanthemum (Luck) Reversed

There are a couple of things at play here. The Three of Pentacles shows there are aspects of teamwork here. This could be referring to the fandom itself, as everyone and their mother are documenting their Hudcon sightings in Toronto. It’s a way of the fandom uniting together as season two draws closer. It could also represent Hudcon themselves. They are a team in the sense that they’re returning to work together, and seeing them together again is generating its own excitement. They’re also coming out of a period where they hadn’t really been publicly seen together since May, so the Opossum & Peony Reversed feels like something coming out of hiding. There’s a sense of no longer being quite so bashful about being seen together, which is honestly kind of lovely.

The Three of Scythes feels a lot heavier but I think what’s being portrayed here is that the fandom in a way is recovering from a period of trauma. The trauma itself is probably “RPF Gotta stop Yall” or the harsh divide we’ve been seeing in this fandom. Seeing them together in public is healing, and it’s allowing the fandom to recover. There is also a lack of official information (Duck & Chrysanthemum Rx). The production team, network, and actors haven't "gotten their ducks in a row" regarding formal press releases or official cast announcements for Season 2. So, the fandom itself kind of took it on themselves to fill that void of information.

Note: I originally wrote this section on August 6, and as of August 7, it looks like we’re officially getting casting announcements! I still think the card accurately captured the energy at the time of the reading, though.

We also have two Three cards, Three in tarot often relates to creation, collaboration, growth, and things beginning to take shape. A lot of what is driving this narrative may simply be excitement about what’s being created, such as Season 2, their return to work, and everything that comes with that. And, naturally, the Three can also represent the fandom getting a little… creative with its theories. So, as always, take those theories with a grain of salt.

Energy Behind the Sightings

First Reading: Six of Stakes Reversed + Mouse & Buttercup (Innocence)

Second Reading: King of Chalices (Giles) Reversed + Ladybug & Sweet Pea (Happiness)

They are our kind of unbothered kings. The Six of Stakes Reversed shows that Hudcon are very grounded. This is not a planned PR Walk (which I’ll get into more later) and there’s a refusal here to let fans, paparazzi, or media expectations dictate how they move through the world. The King of Chalices Reversed comes through for me in two ways. First, it can reflect the emotional overload surrounding the fandom. I also picked up on a theme of sacrifice, particularly the sacrifice of privacy. Being publicly visible comes with a cost, and that seems especially relevant here. The Ram & Dahlia reinforces determination. There’s a strong focus on what lies ahead, and I think the most straightforward explanation for them spending time together is simply that they’re preparing to work on another project together and their schedules finally aligned. There’s also a disciplined routine beginning to form around Season 2. Again, this doesn’t give me particularly strong manufactured PR energy.

The Four of Stakes Reversed and Weasel & Pine Reversed suggest that there’s actually a lot happening privately that we simply aren’t seeing yet. What Is Being Overinterpreted?

First Reading: Nine of Scythes + Ladybug & Sweet Pea (Happiness) Reversed

Second Reading: Five of Chalices Reversed + Rooster & Sunflower (Communication)

Basically, people are doing too much with the theories. It’s not that deep. The Nine of Scythes explicitly warns: “a buff intellect can be a bully, convincing you that everything is wrong when it's just not true,” and I think that can be very true when it comes to any dooming and anxiety people might be projecting. The cards are saying no, the bracelet does not mean anything, maybe they’re not matching on purpose, not everything is a coordinated PR Stunt nor do they secretly hate each other. The Ladybug & Sweet Pea Reversed reinforces this idea of taking on too much. People are looking for signs of unhappiness everywhere, trying to make a single photograph say a thousand words when sometimes a photograph is just a photograph.

The Five of Chalices Reversed is a lot about projecting past fears onto Hudcon. Everyone knows about the Season 2 curse where shows are declining in quality, character development changing, blah blah blah. And for people who have been in fandoms before, there may also be fears about how RPF has affected other co-stars or friendships in the past being projected onto Hudcon. In the Buffy Tarot guidebook, it says:“Just because things didn't go the way you planned in the past doesn't mean history is going to repeat itself." And I think that’s a really important message here. There’s also an assumption that these photos must have been heavily coordinated or communicated with the media, represented by the Rooster & Sunflower, when it’s not. I think people are trying to translate everything that isn’t being said for themselves, which can lead to people filling in blanks that may not actually need filling.

What Is Being Underestimated?

It’s a little funny to pull the exact same oracle card in two different positions. It makes interpretation a bit confusing, but I’ll do my darnedest.

The Eight of Chalices Reversed with the Marten & Foxglove gives me a really fun, light, and playful dynamic. There’s a possibility that they know they’re being photographed and are being a little cheeky about it because, honestly, maybe it’s fun to stir up the internet reaction a little. They seem comfortable with each other and have an easy rapport. What some people might interpret as “calculated PR steps” or “tense body language” could simply be two friends messing around, joking, and enjoying themselves.

The Page of Stakes also shows the enthusiasm and creative drive both actors bring into Season 2. If I haven’t said it enough already, they are excited to work together again. There’s excitement around returning to a familiar cast and crew that has become like a second family, as well as getting to play off each other again. The Marten & Foxglove Reversed gives me two different interpretations. First, they aren’t oblivious to the media environment surrounding them. They know how paparazzi photos can be interpreted and they understand how the industry works. So there may be some awareness about what they allow to be seen. But I also get a little warning from this card. There could be some mischief happening behind the scenes (perhaps around the paparazzi situation or something else entirely) that suggests they should be a little more careful.

The Role of Publicity

First Reading: Ace of Pentacles Reversed + Owl & Hop (Wisdom) Reversed

Second Reading: Ten of Stakes + The Salamander & Black Pepper (Inspiration) Reversed

I think this might be the shortest section because it basically reinforces: No, this is not a coordinated PR walk.

The Ace of Pentacles reversed suggests that the studio’s formal Season 2 publicity strategy hasn’t fully launched yet. The Owl & Hop Reversed backs this up. The attention coming from these photos feels more organic or unexpected than something that was carefully rolled out as part of an established campaign. There could still be a narrative forming around the photos, but it feels like something that developed because of the attention rather than something that was entirely planned beforehand.

The Ten of Stakes and Salamander and Black Pepper Reversed show themes of pressure. Even if the photos weren’t coordinated PR, the amount of publicity they generated may be creating additional pressure for Hudson and Connor. There are suddenly a lot more eyes on them than might have been expected. That could potentially explain why Crave later put out a statement asking people not to take photos of the set. The pressure of this phase feels temporary, though. It’s part of the transition into Season 2 and will eventually settle as filming becomes the new normal.

Likely Direction of the Narrative

Now, before anyone dooms and glooms, walk with me. I don’t think The Lovers Reversed is necessarily about Hudcon directly. Could the narrative suddenly shift toward “Hudson and Connor hate each other and are at each other’s throats”? Sure. Anything is possible. But I don’t think that’s the strongest interpretation here, especially after the rest of the reading repeatedly emphasized endurance, comfort, and a lack of concern with public expectations. What we might actually see is intense online arguments (PR vs. real, staged vs. organic) or solos slowly losing momentum. The Turtle & Coriander says this is a slow process. We may simply be entering calmer waters. That could also mean we don’t get as many Hudcon paparazzi photos once filming actually begins. The current buzz around the paparazzi may naturally lose some momentum once there’s an actual Season 2 production to focus on.

Death Reversed is an interesting card. In Buffy, The Gentlemen literally take away the characters’ voices, so I think there may be a period of odd quietness once filming begins. The narrative right now is an ending that is being actively resisted (Death Reversed). In particular in relating to The Gentlemen, they take away the characters abilities to speak, meaning that there’s conversations that are not happening right now. And because there is no communication occurring, the internet did what it always does: lost its mind and tried to fill in the blanks.

The Deer and Oats represents a quick attempt to restore and heal the image of the relationship (ie. Greece Pap Photos, Insta dumps, etc.).

Note: On July 21, K made a public Instagram account which could be an attempt to control the stagnent/dying negative energy by showing a public image of “See? We're healing, we're loving, everything is restored!”

What Is Fueling That Narrative?

A lot of the narrative surrounding their relationship is separated into two different influences.

The Fanbase: Two of Scythes Reversed with The Spider shows fans spinning intricate webs out of nothingburger theories because of the lack of real information. People are also picking sides and fighting battles that are not theirs to fight.

The Team/PR: Two of Scythes Reversed shows a disconnect and internal conflict that isn't resolving, no matter how much effort goes into it. The team is weaving a story of devotion (Passion Flower) to cover up disharmony.

Energy of the Europe Trip

Cards: Seven of Scythes (Ethan Rayne) Reversed + The Moth and Eucalyptus (An Ending)

So, walk with me a little as I say this. The actual energy of the trip isn’t great. The Seven of Scythes Reversed shows an illusion falling apart. Perhaps one or both of them went into the trip thinking the trip could salvage things but it became quite clear, that no, the end is nigh. The relationship dynamic burned itself out, and the trip marked a definitive ending (The Moth and Eucalyptus) of something within that relationship. I’ll let yall decide what ended but ifykyk.

What Are People Misunderstanding?

Cards: Page of Scythes (Amy Maddison) Reversed + The Bee and Pomegranate (Productivity)

It’s not that deep as people are making it out to be. People might be thinking H and K are masterminds and calculating every move and IG post, when in reality, the Page of Scythes suggest they are more impulsive than anything. They are both slightly in over their heads and overwhelmed, which is totally understandable in both of their positions. This could suggest this isn’t a super coordinated PR push, but people are missing that at the end of the day, a lot of this trip is literally just work (The Bee and Pomegranate).

What’s Actually Visible?

Cards: The Hierophant (Rupert Giles) + The Owl and Hop (Wisdom)

What we see is the rigid structures of their jobs playing out. The Hierophant represents established protocols, contractual obligations, and traditional media management.

Things are being handed with a surprising amount of maturity. They are handling things with a lot more care than people are giving them credit for.

Likely Direction of the Narrative

Once the Europe PR runs out of steam, the narrative surrounding them is going to go dark (The Hermit). There are a lot of nocturnal animals in this spread. The actual dynamics and relationships are still in the dark and not for us to see.

There was also a lot of medicinal and healing plants in this spread. Everyone is exhausted, H, K, H’s team and even the fans. This to me suggests need for recovery and that a primary driver is damage control.

In the Woodland Warden Oracle deck, the Moth and Eucalyptus is represented by the number thirteen. Obviously, the Death card in tarot is also thirteen. This is just also reinforcing there is changes that are going to happen and they can’t be put off and instead they are a natural cycle of things.

In this reading as well we have a high number of reversals, meaning energy is blocked and things are not flowing naturally. Every PR move feels forced because it’s fighting against the natural grain of things.

I remember when pulling The Hound and Pear for Anya, I got a little emotional because how cute is that? Pulling for a dog and I got the dog! I just got this feeling of being so loved and having so much love.

Combined with the Six of Coins, she represents pure loyalty, mutual affection, and generosity. She has such a warm energy, like sitting by a fireplace after coming in from a winter storm. It’s really nice. She has so much love and kindness in her little heart. She’s a good girl, what else can I say?

She’s become like a source of warmth on set, and she’s like a gift to them. She represents softness, unconditional love, and the kind of companionship that helps people lower their defences. In the story of The Woman who was Kind to Insects, a fox tears the skin away from an elder woman and makes her young again, and I can see Anya doing that. She tears away your defences. She worms her way into your heart.

I also get a feeling she’s highly treat-motivated lol. Like she lives for rewards and being rewarded which is very dog energy I suppose.

What Kind of Dog Is She?

She’s a rescue mutt! Definitely not a show dog or a purebred.

I have a feeling she might have had a bit of a rough start to life (The Vulture and Asphodel), perhaps living on the streets for a while before being taken to a shelter or rescue, but now her life is completely different.

She feels young, with almost teenage energy (Knight of Cups Reversed) and can be a bit moody. My mind kind of pictured this scruffy husky mix, because for one you will see a lot of winter themes in this spread and for the other, huskies are soooo moody and dramatic if you've ever seen one.

She’s a medium-sized dog, maybe some sort of pit/terrier, cattle dog, hound, Aussie, or husky mix. I get this feeling of being unfairly judged for how she looks (bully breed). I can also see her breed mix being associated with hunting (which is where I get the terrier from).

Personality

Cards: Five of Coins (The Little Match Girl) + The Bat and Hellebore (intuition)

She’s a deeply sensitive and resilient girl. She might gravitate to people on set who feel isolated or stressed to help them feel better.

She also acts on instinct (Bat and Hellbore) more than anything. She knows who needs her to rest her head on their knee before they do. She also feels like a quiet and very gentle girl, and of course the occasional spurts of moodiness. She would be a very good therapy dog I think.

I feel that she’s a bit dramatic too (Five of Coins), possibly stemming from her rescue nature? Like she will have a lovely bed to lay on but instead chooses to lay on the hard floor and look “woe is me.” Or she would act like a tiny starved orphan to just get more treats out of someone (it works every time.)

And I don’t know if it’s because I pulled a bat, I feel like she could have eye challenges? Maybe visually impaired a little?

Okay okay, this feels a bit sad but walk with me. She helps H basically feel better about himself and overcome mental blocks (Five of Cups Reversed). She’s his comfort blanket basically.

On set, H might feel like he’s going through a change in either his personal or professional life, and that’s kind of scary (The Snake and Fern Reversed) but Anya becomes an unexpected support for him. There’s just such a gentle energy between them. He might become her comfort person when things get too loud and vice versa. It’s really sweet :(.

Relationship with C (on set)

Cards: Page of Cups (Bakunawa and the Seven Moons) Reversed + The Bobcat and Blackthorn (Patience) Reversed

Unlike H, C’s relationship with her is chaos (Page of Cups Reversed). Like they are two friends who should not sit next to each other in class. Like C encourages her bad behaviour because he thinks it’s funny. I see them wrestling on set, him giving her way too many treats, and having so much fun playing.

I think C might have some difficulty during scenes with her, and how impulsive she can be (The Bobcat and Blackthorn). But I think it’ll all be in good fun.

Biggest Fan Moment

Cards: The Magician (The Fairy Godmother)+ The Squirrel and Chestnut (Preparation) Reversed

It’s completely unplanned or improvised (The Magician). It’s something that might be stemming from a lack of preparation (The Squirrel and Chestnut Reversed) so in turn, Anya has some fun. Maybe she steals a prop? Idk I’m picturing a squirrel hiding away, if that makes sense.

Legacy

Cards: The Devil (Boitatá) Reversed + The Turtle and Coriander (Satisfaction) Reversed

I get a sense of healing (The Devil Reversed) and warmth here again. She’s our Anya healing. Like we wanted unknown actors and for unknown actors we get Anya from the shelter with very minimal training. She is well remembered and loved!

This is where the rescue energy comes from and maybe Anya coming from a rough past. She has so much love to give though, and I think that’s very nice.

Fives are all about conflict in tarot readings. Which is a bit heavy for a reading about a dog. There’s a feeling of conflict in the surrounding environment, possibly due to setbacks on set or stress on set. It could also be outside influences from set, such as people bringing personal emotions on set. It could also show the production going through a learning curve to figure out how a dog interacts on set.

The sixes are a lot softer! The sixes represent peace and balance. So despite the conflict or trial and error on set, either way things are going to be fine. We also get this energy of home and family, which is really lovely. At the end of the day, they’re family and I get this very deep bond.

We get a lot of winter here. I get when Anya might come onto the set production is when it starts to snow (anywhere from October- December.) this is also where I get the Husky energy from.

There’s a lot of emotional processing on set. This spread is heavily water based, and I think Anya plays a roll in steadying the waters on set. She acts as an emotional sponge for everyone on set. However paired also with Saint Guinefort and the fact that Anya acts on pure instinct, there might be times where her motives being misread initially (like looking like "bad behavior" or "ruining a take") when, in reality, she is responding to the hidden emotional state of the room

Anya ultimately brings a warmth to set. She is the stability to set and despite there being some turbulent emotions, things stay pretty stable.
