I held his gaze for a moment, a pained laugh wheezing through my mouth. All my worries of him leaving, all the restless nights of thoughts lingering over his not-so-rare grim and fatalistic moods, and none of it would matter in the end. We'd be one of those cursed tavern tales, one of us forever bound to the wolf's form. Other concerns flashed through my mind—Corypheus, the Inquisition, Cassandra's reaction—but for the moment seemed far less important than my ever-present fear—I would lose him.
Or,
that time Lavellan accidentally turned into a wolf — and lived to regret it long afterward.

help, is it normal to still feel like I'm in solavellan hell? we got our happy ending, they're together for eternity, and yet, I am so sad, why do I keep sobbing at that last scene? why do I feel so empty?
it's like, before, there was at still hope there would be some resolution of their romance in a future installment, but now? it's really over. they're gone forever.
and i guess it's the fact that we never really got to see them happy? they closed one last tear in the veil together, and what remained in the wake was random "stardust" to prove that they were ever real. it is so devastating.
that music suite at the end, I can't stop crying. it's so perfect. the way they mixed the inquisition theme and the lost elf theme. the way they completed the story of lost elf theme with that bit that plays right after mythal's speech - the spirit of wisdom finally being released from his service and realizing he can choose another path. the way the pure, beautiful lost elf theme kicks in as lavellan approaches him to join him in eternity.
it's so so good and heartbreaking and beautiful.
what an amazing, amazing story.
I will forever love trevor morris for what he gave to us, and hans zimmer for taking that and somehow making it even more incredible.
DRAGON AGE: INQUISITION (2014)
I finally finished playing veilguard and I have a lot of impressions to share but for now, the one thing I want to say is, I stand by my initial belief -
THIS STORY SHOULD HAVE BEEN CENTERED ON THE INQUISITOR.
It shouldn't have been a new rpg game, it should have been a continuation of Inquisition. God, there would have been so much MORE potential if the original team who got to know Solas got to fight / save him. And I say this as a person who actually got to like Rook (a lot) and most of the companions as well. But still, ultimately, them being involved in the ending was like... meh, what is your purpose here other than "oh someone has to save the world"? yes, involving people representing the relevant factions (bellara for ancient elves, harding for dwarves / titans) was nice and on a certain level, I get that bellara would be affected by all this since she's always been involved in her ancestors' past and all. but harding being all hung up about something that happened a thousand years ago was ridiculous, considering she was never shown caring about her history before she got her powers.
And finally, don't get me wrong, I loved Lavellan's ending with Solas. It was epic. But why, oh why on earth would someone that swore to "save solas" would let someone irrelevant make the decision on whether to save him or fight him?? It's completely ooc. Lavellan would have taken the helm and asked everyone else to stand down. There was no reason she would stand in the background, no "duties" for her to fulfill in the South, etc. Her vhenan was up there dying in the hands of an archdemon and she would let someone else go save him??? HELL NO.
It would have made for such an EPIC story for her to be on the helm of all this. There would be PERSONAL impact as well as general impact. Yes, Rook talked with Solas in their dreams and got to forge a bond, but that's nothing compared to what Solas and the Inquisitor had. Even a non-romanced high approval Inquisitor was far more relevant.
I reached that ending and though I was happy, my heart lacks that epic feeling I had during the Tresspasser ending. It was like, oh, that's it? Very anticlimactic.
