this is not to say that brazilian society is not racist, it definitely is, this country was built on the blood of black and indigenous people spilled by the portuguese for centuries, we only abolished slavery in 1888 which is fucking embarrassing but you can't just map brazil's way of seeing race and it's problems one to one with the imperial core because fun fact: we are also a complex society with our own unique problems and specificities
