October Stories - Day 1

Late at night, the lights turned off. A wailing cat, a bedroom clock. Sounds are around you, but one is clear There’s something breathing really near. You hold yours to check, it still goes on It’s in here with you, where it doesn’t belong. It’s very dark, and you can’t see There’s something here that shouldn’t be It’s lurking in the darkest tread Of the shadows under the bed. Don’t move, it’ll know you’re awake If it can, it will take You away, where you’ll never be found Somewhere deep under the ground.

But wait, you cry, is this not a tale? One to make children weep and wail? There is no evil under the bed All these thoughts are in my head! So, to prove you aren’t afraid, You roll to the side - the mistake is made. You sit for a moment, a minute or two, Then, slowly and with bated breath you Lower your feet ‘til they touch the floor, All the while keeping your eye on the door.

You see,

Now it would know that you are up, And would be tempted by you trying your luck. But whilst your hairs stand up on end, And the breathing manages to send Every fibre on a jittering edge,

You stop.

You wait.

Nothing.

Sitting in the dark with the hideous breath, No pale hands grab you, no meeting with death. There was never anything under the bed.

It is waiting in the wardrobe instead.

The Arcana Chapter V - Theories and reactions (Part 4)

AKA I get angry at a fictional character. Still not over it. 

So this section will focus on a certain fickle master magician, who is playing the longest game of “the floor is telling people what you do”. But we finally have some answers. For better or for worse. 

I know the court scene is before this, but I felt like this was more important, and I have more theories for this section.

I have to warn you now - this is definitely going to be the longest part, because there’s so much I want to talk about. I have so many ideas and because they all relate to Asra, it makes sense to keep them all together on one post. So you might want to get comfortable, grab some blankets and a beverage, maybe snacks, because we’re going on a journey.

I am so sorry, it’s been waaaay too long and I started writing my “theories” as a response to this post that I randomly chose, so most things will have no relation whatsoever with what you talked about in here.

Wow.

Firstly: I loved all of this, it was totally worth the wait! And this is why you’re so much better at this than me, I just come up with a bunch of wild ideas drawn only from the game, you have a word document full of research and curiosities. I tip my hat to you.

Secondly: “I’m… I’m not exactly fun at parties” had me creasing up xD That’s my kind of humour

And thirdly: Just to clarify, Mercedes and Melchior are good doggos, I was just upset at the time because I was led to a Demon Goat’s bedroom, which I was not up for. I will still love them and pet them, because they are good boys really.

And in response to all your fabulous theories… Whaaat? :D Hell yeah, ideas I hadn’t even considered! 

Muriel protecting us from Julian?! Um, yes?! That’s awesome! I didn’t even think of that because I was probably blinded by love I just assumed that Muriel meant Demon Goat Lucio, but that also makes so much sense. Julian has basically reversed roles with Asra in the most recent chapter, being the shady one whilst Asra is opening up to us, so this would give a reason for that.

As for my Muriel/Faust being apprentices thing, I 1) totally forgot Asra’s age, and therefore didn’t factor it in, which is my bad, and 2) had that as a pet theory, and had zero evidence. So thanks for reminding me of Asra’s age, I messed up xD 

Also, I am 100% using the nicknames Fluffy-hair and MuMu from now on, I hope you don’t mind. <3

I don’t know if you know (whoever you are, reading this), but I FINALLY GOT THAT SPECIAL SCENE. I somehow got lucky with coins, so I just kept spinning. I suffered for so long spinning that bloody wheel, and I finally unlocked that scene. And I loved it. So much.

So, @maibalsychofkorse, as a treat because your theories were awesome and you clearly spent a lot of time on them, I have something below the cut that you may or may not like. It’s not a spoiler or anything, fear not. But it is glorious and I nearly hyperventilated from all the fangirl screaming I did.

Thank you for reminding me that I also need to finish my Chapter V Theories and Reactions Part 5 - that’s been sitting in my drafts for ages. And because of the special scene I have new theories, but I’ll see how that goes because it may contain a load of spoilers and I don’t know if it’s a good idea to spoil it. It’s probably not.

Anyway, I hope everyone who reads this is having a good day! And I hope you enjoy the surprise below the Keep Reading line.

Awww thank you! <3 I'm really glad you liked it! And that I maybe even made you laugh? ^.^ I may have a Word document but that's only because I'm extremely forgetful, not because I'm a pro or anything as evidenced in my post. Don't worry about forgetting Asra's age. If you ever want to know something about the characters, tell me and I might be able to help. I update it every now and then, mostly on Fridays since that's when the devs answer questions from the fandom. Ah...when will I ever be on time to ask one myself? Sadface. Also, you're more than welcome to call Assra and Muriel those nicknames. In fact, I'd feel honored if you started doing so!

I know you didn't mean any harm against them by what you said and I never got that impression either so no worries! I just wanted to express my undying love for the puppers <3

As for the theories...

I wouldn't be surprised if Muriel's also protecting us from Demon Goat Lucio! The mixture in the pouch sounds more like it's meant to protect the bearer against evil spirits and supernatural things... You know, when someone thinks their spoopy house is being haunted by evil entities and call in a priest to bless their home, don't they burn incense in a little thingy that they wave around all over the place and go like "BE-GONE, THOTS. YE ARE NOT WELCOME IN THIS HOUSE"? It would make a little more sense. I, for one, wouldn't fight a home-invader, master-banger, suspected-murderer by throwing herbs at his face... Can you imagine Muriel blessing the shop/home, or the wing that connects to Lucio's chambers? Which would fit him since he'd probably be a priest in D&D xD

In any way, although it would be very interesting, I hope he didn't experiment on MuMu </3 After what Assra told us and after that grin, I couldn't help but start suspecting Jules! Julian, I pinky-swear, if you harmed Muriel in any way, I will-
