It’s a memory loss condition that can result from alcoholism.

Specifically it's a very severe version of anterograde amnesia. A person with it can remember the past just fine, but they cannot create new memories or rather, their long memory past the point of the extreme alcoholism is destroyed. They can hold a convo with a person but they forget they did a day later (to name an example). They often believe they're in a different era (a patient I read about believe they were in the 1950s but the year of the interview was like 1974).

Korsakoff syndrome is caused by over reliance on alcohol specifically in the sense that all of your calories come from its comsumption, with no actual vitamins. Specifically the lack of thiamine (Vitamin B1) in the brain.

Were Vi to get it it would be extremely tragic imho. Her impression of Jinx would likely be exclusive to the Council explosion maybe. More tragically, she assumes JInx is still Powder (thinking like she just got out of prison maybe). And nothing Jinx would do would be able to dissuade her from changing that. Hence it's important to prevent that.
