Threw together a quick reference for Art Fight for my pony OC who I occasionally draw. They don't have a lot of lore, I just think they're cute and fun to draw.

in finnish, the '@' symbol is sometimes referred to as 'kissanhnta' [cat's tail] or 'miau', 'miau merkki' [meow marks]. in the pokemon universe, i thought it might be cute if the '@' symbol were called 'the mew' or 'mew symbol'

considering both bill and professor oak would know about mew, i imagined a conversation in which this term was coined in which professor oak tries (and finally succeeds) at sending his first email.

in polish, it's called 'malpa' [monkey]!

There's some text to change later but this chapter is finished, or at least in the state of "If I have to upload this without changing one or two details, that's fine."

Took the weekend to let my brain recuperate and now the chapter progress continues.

My conclusion over having drawn backgrounds incorrectly... screw it, they can be a little wrong, I'm good. I've got nine pages to go, aiming to finish up at least three of them today. Might be able to do more than that though, since a few of these just need some slight color changes.

It's my favorite sinner's birthday so I had to at least do a little doodle.

So, about those pages I was finalizing. Oops I totally messed up a lot of background details I'm now raising. Upon pulling up my 3D model of the background in question, I realized, "oh this is so very wrong."

Against all better judgement, I will be taking the time to fix it.

At this point I think I'm officially just sitting over to a goal of finishing four pages a week instead of my usual whole-chapter batches, at least for now. Which, switching over to that method right now will basically be a net loss to my current buffer, but it's probably still the better call and will balance out over time.

So here's the plan:

I took some time last night too do some touchups on chapter 9 and finalize those pages. Also I did fiddle with redoing some backgrounds for chapter 10. So right now, I'm gonna finalize a few pages at a time for chapter 10, make sure I'm happy with colors, do any rendering, dialogue, etc. Then I'll make my way back to those last few pages. Right now the goal is to be done with page 5-7.

Character flats: DONE.

Background flats: A few panels left, but also they're awful so I'm gonna take some time to mull over what I want to do with them.

But then it'll be on to cleanup and rendering. BREAK TIME.

First break of the day. I have acquired food and checked my Pokemon Sleep reports. Over a year into shiny hunting Alolan Vulpix I was pleasantly surprised to have two of them show up since these adorable bastards want to constantly evade me.

Anyway, one page left, sort of. I have to clean up after that and these backgrounds suck. I didn't really properly reference anything when I drew them. I could take the time to fix them and extend my stay in hell but let's see what I can do for now.

Okay. I have been doing flats on this chapter for too long, I've been working on this chapter for too long, this has been in progress since MARCH and I am ready to be done with this chapter. I will now be felt feebly attempting to liveblog my effort at finishing this chapter, I want it done this week, CAN I DO IT THIS WEEK???

I adore all of the comments I get on my comic, even if I don't respond to all of them.

And it becomes agonizing when someone makes a really interesting comment speculating on the plot or characters, because on the one hand, holy shit people are invested enough to speculate on the plot and characters. And on the other hand, do... do I reply? Do I say something? Because what if I unintentionally give away hints that spoil certain things? If I reply to a bunch of comments, but then don't respond to someone's prediction about where the plot is going, does my sudden silence imply something about whether that person is correct? aaaaaaaaaaaaa

Anyway yes I love reading comments, that is all.
