Becoming a 30 something...

So yesterday I well and truly entered my 30’s by turning 31.

I don’t feel any different than I did 10 years ago, although I have noticed a few grey hairs, but apart from that nothing major!

To be honest I am still young and I don’t understand the mass hysteria of people turning 30 and stating that they are now “getting old”, I’m like speak for yourself bitch!

People are living a lot longer these days, so I see your 30’s as the new teens, well that’s the excuse I’m using.

Where I work, majority of my colleagues are in their early twenties, so my turning 31 was the perfect excuse for them to point out how close I was to shunting off the mortal coil, see exhibit a:

All jokes aside, sometimes them referring to my being elderly does actually get to me!

I find myself saying things that an “older” person would say. My recent favourite being “what the fuck is this music?!”

I was so used to being one of the younger ones in my last job, that coming to a job where you are now one of the older ones is a bit of a head fuck.

I just need to remember to not take it to heart and realise that I’m NOT old!

2018 the year of the solo traveller!

So I have come to the decision that if I really want to do something or go somewhere, then why should I wait until somebody else is free or available to do it/come with me?

Life is short and I think that I let fear get in the way of me truly enjoying my life and doing all the things I really want to do.

So after wanting to return to New York for what will be my third visit, and my usual travel buddy being otherwise indisposed, I thought fuck it! I really want to go, why should I wait until somebody becomes available before I book it? So I booked it! On my own!

Now don’t get me wrong I did start to feel a little anxious about how this is going to play out, but then I thought you only get one life and I don’t want to put mine on hold because I’m letting fear get in the way!

My trip isn’t until December so I’ve got plenty of time to sort out an itinerary for myself and to save some money so I can really enjoy myself!
