I don’t know if you ever check this blog anymore but if you do I’d LOVE to hear more about your bipolar Ben headcanons? I’m bipolar and it never occurred to me but IM SO HERE FOR IT.
hi! yeah, i don't use this blog anymore, i mostly just keep it as an archive in case someone wants to find something, since i've got a decent amount of harder to find posts saved on here.
as for ben being bipolar—i haven't watched the show in a while, so i am probably not the best person to ask about headcanons, and i unfortunately cannot dig through my old dms and find the things i said without going through a lot of messages given tumblr messages don't have a search function. that said, i can give you some general reasons i think he's bipolar, and some specific canon highlights i can remember—as the show goes on and ben is given a greater position and greater responsibilities, he becomes more and more harsh towards those around him and begins to split the world and people into extremes—one of the best examples of this being the arc where caleb is captured and tortured by simcoe, and, understandably, comes back incredibly traumatised..........and rather than try and support his closest friend like he would have in s1 (in my opinion, anyway), he essentially gets upset at caleb for becoming useless, because he can't see beyond his own goals and to the people who are hurt in pursuit of them.
that's just a very short off the cuff of what i can remember saying................two and half years ago, now, i think? i will toss in that i think he's type two with psychotic traits and mixed episodes, though probably no rapid cycling given that his emotional states seem to hold for longer than rapid cycling would cause. also i think probably post-canon when he's under less stress things even out somewhat, as well as with age, and he learns how to cope with his mental health issues now that he really has no good reason to ignore them. repairing his relationships would be a very long process, especially with caleb, but i do think it's possible.

my favorite thanksgiving tradition is when your best friend comes over for dinner and starts acting all sus until the married woman he has a crush on, the king’s worst bounty hunter, and the guy who beat up your dad all show up and start arguing about these guys in green bean costumes, which somehow results in the bounty hunter with an eye patch to pull out a gun so you gotta go full on cowboy movie and whip out your gun even though you are a quaker and totally womp him because gunpowder?? in this household we only have powder for our wigs.
