Brad Buecker describes the filming of the first Klaine kiss.

Today on podcast, “and that’s what you really missed”, they had Brad Buecker, who directed many episodes, including Original song.

Kevin to Brad: Do you have any favorite scenes or numbers that you to to either direct of edit.

Brad: I mean, i honestly, truthfully, it was like I went into every scene like I want to fall in love with his scene....

....so when they were going to do the first kiss between Blaine and Kurt, OK, we went into rehearse and I said to Darren, I was like, you know, Darren, like I remember my first kisses very well. And I remember always having a plan as to how I was going to do it or where I was going to stand. And it just, they never worked out.

So when you come over to sit down, I think you should scoot your chair all the way over next to him and sit. And he was like, Oh No I would never do that. I want to sit here...they were literally like 6 feet apart. And i was like, ok, great, ok got it.

I turned around and I just said to Chris Buffa, light the whole room and get 3 cameras. This is going to be great. Because i knew he couldn't possibly kiss him from there, right? And i just, I didn't say another word. I was like, you know what, we're done. We're not going to rehearse anymore. Let's just go away, turn the cameras on.

And it's like when he's sitting there, you can see this moment where he realizes he can't possibly get there, right? And so he has to get up and sort of awkwardly move around the table and like lean.. And it was like, it felt so honest.

It was just like we're done, yeah, yeah, yeah. Got it. That's it.

Mourning the loss of the other version of the Klaine breakup scene in Loser Like Me (where Kurt says Blaine manipulated him into the engagement with the over the top, incredibly public proposal) because it just adds to how utterly delightfully messy that proposal was.

Like, are huge public proposals like that inherently manipulative because you're essentially getting peer pressured into an engagement? Yes

Is it also exactly the sort of dramatic grand gesture that Kurt and Blaine would be absolutely all over? Also yes

Does Kurt still have a right to point out that the proposal was manipulative, and didn't really have the option to say no in front of that many people (including all his friends, family, former teacher and four separate show choirs)? Once again, yes

Did Kurt go into the proposal knowing what it was going to be, allowing him to prepare for what was going on and also technically allowing him to turn away from the whole situation? Yes

Was Blaine taking that into account when he attempted to ambush Kurt with an insanely over the top proposal only a few days after getting back together with him? Probably not

Was it also very strange for Blaine to invite Sebastian to Kurt's proposal knowing their beef? Not really relevant to the rest of this, but yes

Objectively messy, fucked up Klaine, you have my whole entire heart

i used to do this musical theatre day camp when i was a teenager & for the most part the performances were u know. well-known musicals by enthusiastic teens w no sets or costumes rehearsed over a couple of days. you can imagine.

but anyway one year they put on Little Shop of Horrors, a show that is notably difficult to stage on a budget of no money due to typically featuring well u know a giant plant puppet.

the way they decided to stage this was, they got a bunch of green rubber gloves. when Audrey II first appeared he was 1 kid using their gloved hand like a puppet. u know what i mean.

but then as Audrey II got bigger they had more and more kids put on green gloves and join the plant. when a character got eaten their actor would become part of the plant.

by the end of the show every actor in the chorus was part of Audrey II except for the kid playing Seymour, who played his final scene against a mob before being eaten.

& then for the finale the entire company played Audrey II.

i still think about this sometimes. it was such a genuinely ingenious way to stage the show without puppets. legitimately unsettling to watch. what the fuck!!

Matilda the Musical could be a horror movie in different context. Imagine you’re a teacher. You’re broke as hell but you invite over one of your students because she clearly has a horrible home life, and then suddenly this five-year-old stares at you, wide-eyed, and tells you about your own childhood trauma, and that your father who you were told had committed suicide was actually murdered. And she’s right.

I'm gonna be a theatre nerd on main here. Okay, the original recording of Christopher Plummer singing Edelweiss was released yesterday and honestly, I just want them to re-release the film with his vocals, not the dub. It feels much more natural and organic to him as a performer. What do I mean by that? Well, the man who dubbed Plummer sounded lovely, absolutely nothing wrong. But with Plummer's voice back in, I noticed subtle shifts in his acting that I hadn't before. The original dub is "Hello I am here and I am singing a pretty song, the end." Plummer's version is "I love my country, I love my family...and I think I love this woman who came into my home." And the tiny shifts in his voice match the expressions on his face and the way his eyes suddenly glint in a different way as the Captain. In conclusion, by God that man could act and he shouldn't have been dubbed in the first place. Maybe that's why he was always reticent to sing it in public.
