Noticed this improvised gem that I previously missed on a very recent rewatched of "From script to screen" on series 1 DVD (that's how I accidentally found out today's the 20-year anniversary of the scene).

It's probably bit of a cheap laugh but it cracked me up so hard and has been haunting me ever since

Back in the good old days, when just the idea of a lovely therapeutic shout could instantly cheer Malcolm up and have him smiling and very nearly skipping in gleeful anticipation.

The thing about Sam must really like Malcolm as a person?  Yeah, I don’t remember him receiving a lot in the way of casual touches — with a big parting smile — from anyone else.
