If you're following this blog, you probably knew it as @the-oc-workshop, which I abandoned years ago to start fresh with a new account and blog. Well, for personal reasons, I don't want to keep using that new account anymore - so I've returned to give this old blog a makeover and use it as my main one for now!!!

What have you been doing all this time?

So much different bullshit!!! I became a Twitch streamer and then a proper VTuber, met a bunch of new friends and foes, suffered at college (FINALLY graduated this year btw), suffered from a lot of other personal situations, and currently suffering because I haven't managed to get a fucking normie job yet. And of COURSE I've still been doing art, but due to the largely untreated state of my mental health the periods in which I actively make art have become very sporadic.

What should we call you now?

Just Mal will do! Short for the full name of my current main sona, Malice - though if you're feeling nostalgic, I also go by Aby.

What are you going to do with this blog now?

I do still want to post my art and doodles here, but it's too much effort for me to have separate blogs for different purposes. So I'm also just gonna reblog posts on here (mostly stuff that's funny and PSAs). I promise though, I'm going to do my best to get back into the practice of drawing regularly! I don't know how successful I'll be until I can finally start getting treatment for my mental illnesses, but I hope you'll wanna stick around regardless 🙏

When you post art here, what kind will it be? Will you still focus on OCs?

Largely, yes! Although these days, rather than just original characters for existing properties, I spend an equal amount of time thinking about my characters for my own, completely original stories! I do want to start making content for these stories, even though a lot of it will probably just be silly doodles for now, and I hope you'll come to love my characters and worlds as much as I have!

Oh and you'll probably see my sona a lot, most of my drawings the past few years have been focused on him and my other vtuber friends, since that became such a big part of my life.

I still wanna do stuff for fandoms I'm in though, it'll basically just be whatever I wanna draw at any given time lmao ✨️

Further context: Durham city council (Reform UK) cut funding and support for Pride. The Durham Miner's Association and other trade unions raised enough money for Durham Pride 2026 to go ahead - a direct call back to when Lesbian and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) raised money for mining communities when Margaret Thatcher seized union funding during the miner strikes of 1984-85.

At the 1985 Labour party meet, the motion to support LGBT rights as a party was passed due to a block vote from mining unions.

Stephen Guy, the chair of the Durham Miners’ Association, said that when it became apparent Durham Pride was under threat, he took it upon himself to “encourage the trade union movement to step up and do the right thing, and stand shoulder to shoulder with the LGBT+ community […] They not only raised funds for us, but came to our communities, uplifted our spirits when they were down, and showed their solidarity.”

INCREDIBLY CONCERNING SPIKE IN ANTI-BLACKNESS IS HAPPENING RN.

Some of yall may have heard some of the shit that has been going on right now. I'm gonna give a quick run down of some of the stuff that has been happening. Note, this is not all, and it may never be all as much as I will try to update this.

(I am going to try and compile and briefly explain these as much as I can. There may be misinformation. Please inform me if I got something wrong.)

1) Racist Chinese Dolls.

There are these dolls in China that are being called "Natasha" baby dolls. These dolls are not only very obvious caricatures of black people, but they are being advertised as a "stress relief" in which the people who buy these abuse it in various ways.

2) The Mocking, Abuse, and Dehumanization of Black Children.

Apart from the aforementioned doll, there are apparently people going around mocking, abusing, and dehumanizing black children.

Some people have compared black children to the doll.

Others have been going into African countries and have found ways to mock, abuse, and dehumanize black children for clout.

3) Black people are going missing.

Black people, especially children and teens have recently been going missing at an alarming rate. Some of these same people are turning up dead, deaths being ruled as "suicides."

While it generally unknown why many of these people are going missing, many suspect that their disappearances, deaths, and even lack of coverage is rooted in anti-blackness.

The following is a list of black people that have been reported missing as of recently. Please note that this is not a complete list (it may never be completed due to the fact that many of these disappearances will still occur as time passes) this may contain inaccurate information. Please inform me if that is the case.

we gotta get back to torrent distribution, i just watched someone eat eight grand in bandwidth charges because they ran a direct-download piracy site with local file hosting through cloudflare. torrents were invented literally for this exact reason

torrents work like this

i have a file or folder on my pc that i want to share with other people. let's call it gayshit.mp3

unfortunately gayshit.mp3 is 750mb and im not paying for discord nitro so i need another way to send it

i put it into qbittorrent and it makes a torrent file. this is essentially a very small file that points to gayshit.mp3 so other computers can find it. kinda like a treasure map

i send this tiny file to my friend, who loads it into qbittorrent. their computer takes a moment to find mine over the vast expanse of cyberspace and then (as long as my pc is running and the file is still where it should be), it gets copied from my hard drive to theirs

this is the cool part: if somebody else loads that tiny file, they can download it from both of us. if i'm offline but my friend is on, the third person can still get it. this also means that if two people have separate halves of the file, they can download the other half from each other. as long as some combination of people have the pieces between them, they can all have the whole thing.

crucially this does not require a server!!! you can just upload the file to a few people and as long as they keep it, it's still accessible. as long as somebody, somewhere is still connected, it's available forever. the only way it goes away is if everybody disconnects from it.
