I'm just wiped. Last year I was the weirdest person (positive) and this year I'm the weirdest person (negative) and nothing has actually changed about me.

hey so. Do Muslim families do the same thing Jewish families do where we warn kids not to ruin Santa basically the moment they have the ability to keep secrets? Because omg this little girl is going to get both of us hate crimed at my job. For a lot of American Christians this is THEE ritual, you cannot ruin it!

And yes I actually am so annoyed at how much work it is to respect the Santa thing but I still do it. It is not generally reciprocated by our society at large, but I cannot explain that to a small child.

Oh my god, I just remembered: in second grade I, Jewish, got in trouble with my teacher, who was also Jewish, because I said I hated Christmas. Notably though: I did not loudly proclaim that Santa was fake. Because I had the talk as soon as I was old enough.

I'm booking some Rover guests over the summer, it's basically passive income if you're already taking care of your own dog. Promised the kids they could claim some of the money if they did dog chores. I'm really not up for getting my own second dog right now but my dog loves having a friend.

Incidentally the cat is named Tumble but I call her Tumblr. 😢

Our eighteen and a half year old cat sharply declined this week. She's not seeking pets and attention the way she was doing even a week ago, and while obviously I'm hoping there's something obvious and curable, I don't think so. Her arthritis has been managed for a while but she's lost weight too fast. I assume the thyroid is going now.

Eighteen years is pretty good, though not enough. My husband got her as a teeny little kitten in January 2008. She's had a really good life.

Sooner or later leftists will have to deal with the issue that capitalism has made many people used to wanton excess and sooner or later we'll have to legit tell everyone we can't have plastic treats and luxury produce or cruises instantly available year round and it's gonna make so many people mad and call you a big meanie worse than stalin over it. This means giving up cars for a lot of people. In a coordinated, gradual way. Making more meat free alternatives that aren't processed. Using reusable versions of water bottles and many many other items.

Letting things go will feel like a lot of work but we'll look back on it and say to ourselves "how was I so wasteful?"

I want to lay down and relax for like one whole day. Just want to nap with my bra off. Putter around. My kids can play independently outside buuuut I had to run down the street and scoop my son when he was bleeding from his bike accident. Nothing permanent, lots of blood though. I just want to nap intermittently, watch a lot of TV, fall asleep in several different rooms.

I was laying around trying to steal a few minutes and I heard my son screaming today, it was because there was a big spider. We're an invertebrate-friendly house, he happily lets bees land on him, but something about spiders. idk man. I'm so tired. "Make more time for yourself" fuck off. "Your husband needs to do more" my husband cannot actually do more. Physically impossible.

I'm hiding on my phone and my eight year old starts shriek-crying. So I ran to her and it sounded so dire but actually she'd made breakfast sausage, left it on the table while she got dressed, and then was surprised when our thief cat and dog ate it. I just. We've had the thief cat for four years now. We had a tall Labrador mix when my kids were tiny, and got this terrier three years ago. There has never been a time you could leave sausages unattended on the dining room table.

If I didn't have to remember everything for my kids, would I get some of my brain back?
