I’m so tired of the “why do people hate aspecs, they aren’t doing anything?” argument. I know that it is an attempt to support us, but it fails so spectacularly to understand aromanticism, asexuality, and any other aspec identity that it’s actively frustrating.

We are doing something. We’re rejecting allonormative ideals and that’s a massive thing to do. We’re actively fighting not just to help other aspecs, but to help everyone, because amatonormativity (and allonormativity as a whole) hurt everyone. Single people who want to find a partner but can’t also deserve to be able to exist.

There are so many issues with the expectation of marriage, including:

A single income isn't enough to get by anymore

Having a spouse is almost necessary under the current medical system

Society shames and pressures people who are single to get into relationships constantly

Rejecting allonormativity means fighting against these things that hurt everyone.

So, no, aces and aros and other aspecs aren't "doing nothing." We're doing quite a lot.

The Backrooms:

this movie far exceeded my expectations. Easily better than my worst fears and went beyond what I realistically expected. It did the perfect move by explaining nearly nothing and leaving you to make the assumptions. Details under cut, but I can recommend seeing it if you like the backrooms style of horror. I can easily say it’s the scariest I’ve seen the concept done.

the most important thing off the bat that had me going AAAAA is that they used EATEOT B1 in a scene. My ears latched in immediately and loved it.

ok, actual plot and details. This was much more of a psychological horror than I expected and I am grateful for it. I was kinda fearing a mess of jump scares and entities, but I’d sooner describe this film as a man’s spiral after he finds this impossible place and how he drags others down with him

the film honestly has little to do with Kayne Pixel’s backrooms series. It has references, and Async does show up, but they’re not the focus. Clark is the first main character, and he’s the furniture store owner. He has some issues, and his therapist Mary is our other main charter. Clark has some issues, and once he finds the backrooms these express themselves harder. After Clark gets his employees killed,in the Backrooms during what I think is one of the best sequences of the film, Mary gets drawn in trying to find him.

Clark has gone mad, he’s full living in the Backrooms, performing near sociopathic behavior. Mary shifts into solo main character role after Clark’s attempted to make peace with his Entity goes wrong. Yes there’s an entity in this film, but they did the smartest move by making it original and beautifully uncanny

Mary nearly gets caught a couple times, but manages to escape into the hands of Async. We see a brief interview, see her memories and issues has manifested in the Backrooms, and the film ends.

The way I’ve described this is probably trash, but you gotta trust me it was rad.

i also don't know how to put this but one of their inside jokes is Pretending that The Bunny Man will Get Them because they've been making fun of a specific 1983 springbonnie model that william used because it looked stupid
