Highway to the Moon by Aaron J. Groen
Holy shit
Are you fucking kidding me
Some people are uncomfortable with silences. Not me. I’ve never cared much for call and response. Sometimes I will think of something to say and then I ask myself: is it worth it? And it just isn’t.”
Miranda July, No One Belongs Here More Than You (via 69yen)
Here’s how I played in 2014. How did you play? spotify.com/2014
I've apparently spent an entire month of time listening to music this past year. Not too bad.

November 30 - Pink Floyd released The Wall in the UK on this day 35 years ago.
The song Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2) was released as a single a week prior to the album release. It was Pink Floyd’s first single since Point Me at the Sky, which had failed to chart in 1968 and as a result the band decided to just focus on albums and not bother with singles. However, because Pink Floyd owed taxes to England for the fortune they had made from Dark Side of the Moon (indeed the band had to spend a year out of England so they recorded The Wall elsewhere), the band decided they needed a single, and not just any single but a hit single.
In 1979 that meant one thing: disco. That is why ABITW2 has a disco rhythm guitar sound and a four-on-the-floor drum beat that are (thankfully) not heard elsewhere on the album. The song was intentionally crafted in this style in order to become a hit single, and it worked. Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2) reached #1 in at least seventeen countries and was in the top 5 in at least five more. Although it was too late in the year to make a big impact on 1979’s year-end charts, for 1980 it was the #2 song of the year in the U.S.
Although you're correct about them owing taxes and they did go away to record The Wall to help pay the taxes back, I'm not sure where you're getting the rest of this information from. The idea for a disco beat came from producer Bob Ezrin. Roger Waters had originally written and recorded Another Brick in the Wall part 2 as a one minute and 20 second song. It was just him and an acoustic guitar. Ezrin saw the potential of it being a single and suggested the disco style beat. He also wanted two choruses and two verses. The band literally told him to go fuck himself saying "we don't do singles, so fuck you." But Ezrin did it anyway when the band wasn't around. After Waters heard the final product, he surprisingly didn't hate it. So no, they did not specifically write the song as a disco tune to make money and be a hit single.
