Teaching aperture (see #2 ) #cameralesson Monday at 11am. Morning is definitely the best time in Summer to get outside with your camera - especially in the village square at #glendaleohio . Aperture is complicated- it changes drastically with lens, zoom, distance. But I show how easy it can be with 3 simple tricks to blur the background. 📷 STEP 1 - zoom all the way! 55mm with this lens. 📷 STEP 2 Get close with this lens! Did you know this 18-55 mm kit lens will focus as close as just a few inches??? So get in there! 📷 STEP 3 - Aperture Priority Mode (A or AV) with lowest number. The bee in Photo #2 was captured with my D500, 70-200 f4 Nikon full frame lens but you could easily get the same look with kit 300mm lens, especially Nikon’s AF-P series lenses on a current SLR body - Just set mode to A. AF-P and AF/M lenses let you tweak focus without changing any buttons. Great Parks Photography Club first meeting is Sunday June 10, after the 9am photo walk, approximately 10am-noon. We’ll walk at Winton Woods Harbor - starting at the Pavilion, and meet for the club across Winton Road at Winton Center afterward. @great_parks naturalist Paul is starting the club so we can share all those amazing photos we take as well as learn a few tips each time. HUGE NEWS! I just had a teen camera lesson. She has an iPhone and we tried the sd card reader just to see if it would download her images from her SLR SD card. And it WORKED! Also works on my iPhone7! Tried @glennhartong iPhone6S and it didn't. Not sure if it's due to older iOS or iPhone generation... I'll try updating his phone tonight and try again... Here's how to IMPORT your photos to iPhone (if it works for you) and iPad - which should work for everyone!... . 1. Use Apple's SD Camera Card Reader. Turn OFF your camera. Eject the card. Insert the card reader into the lightning connector. Insert the sd card into the card reader. . If PHOTOS doesn't automatically open, OPEN PHOTOS. . 2. Wait for the device to show previews of your images. . . TIP - it's a good idea to clean off your card regularly and REFORMAT it using the camera menu! It deletes everything from the card including the file directory. Your card will be happier, and you'll be able to download images faster without all the backlog.... If you've already downloaded images to your device, they'll be recognized and marked with a green checkmark. . 3. IMPORT. Import selected. Remember those files are HUGE! Be selective! Or at least weed out the un-favorites frequently... . 4. ALWAYS hit KEEP after the Import is complete and you're asked to delete or keep. NEVER DELETE! If you do, those shots are pretty much gone forever! After Import, just remove the card reader & put the card back in your camera. Keep means you can download images to your computer later too... . If like us you need to get images out of your camera to share right away, this is a quick "down & dirty" way to do it "on the road". We've used iPads with cell connections as POOL PHOTOGRAPHERS to get images from police & fire funeral coverage out to the rest of the media. SWIPE FOR ALL THE SCREENSHOTS. Trying to find SLIDESHOW feature on iPhone can be a challenge when you're surrounded by eager viewers who can't wait to see their photo campers captured... So here are STEP BY STEP tips for sharing photos from your iPhone, and it works on iPad too - although there is a SLIDESHOW button on the TOP RIGHT of the album thumbnail view on iPad... . 1. Organize & Arrange your album! You can select PHOTOS as well as VIDEOS to include in an album and slideshow. . TIP! Live Photos won't PLAY - so use Google's MOTION STILLS app to create & save a LIVE to a video clip - remember to TRIM it (more on that for another post). Remember to SELECT then touch & drag thumbnails to set the order of the slideshow. . 2. After organizing your album, Choose the album, then hit SELECT top right, then SELECT ALL button top left. . 3. Remember to check your BACK UP SETTINGS! #psa #backupplan Do you know when the last time your device & photos were backed up? Here is how to check on your iPhone running iOS10: . 1. SETTINGS - click on your name at the top: Apple ID, iCloud.... . 2. Click on your device name - like iPhone. 3. Make sure iCloud Backup is turned ON. You'll see last backup date underneath. If you need to backup now - click the arrow beside iCloud Backup then choose BACK UP NOW. Be sure your device is plugged in & on wifi. . & MOST IMPORTANTLY make sure to BACK UP YOUR PHOTOS! . Go back to your account settings to iCloud. . Click iCloud & make sure Photos is ON. I have mine set to auto upload my phone photos to the cloud. . TIP! This can be set differently between iPhones & iPad, if for instance you don't want all the photos or screen captures you put on your iPad to go to all your devices.. Have any questions??? Do you edit photos after dark? 🌚🦉🌛🌌⏰ if so make sure you're aware of NIGHT SHIFT - SWIPE UP from the home button to view the Command Center. . Apple devices shift color to very warm tones as blue light (daylight) triggers us to be awake. . So you could end up with funky colored photos correcting them with at night, or very early in the morning.
