Lieutenant and Herald
For my bachelor thesis I illustrated the Valar - godlike creatures from the book „The Silmarillion“ from Tolkien.
This is Aule, the Great Smith, master of earth and stone.
This is Orome, the Great Hunter. He is the master of beasts and trains them to fight against the Dark Lord. His companions are a big hound and abhorse that shines like silver in the moonlight.
This is Nienna. The Valar of mercy and piy. She weeps for the suffering of the earth and gives the lesson of embracing your sadness while still having hope and gaining wisdom.
The lord of the seas and rivers, Ulmo. He never stays long in one place and loves to travel through all the deep waters of Arda. A green chain mail protects his body and sound of his hornblowing brings a deep longig for the sea.
The Dark Valar, Melkor. It says he is clad in ice and fire and wields the warhammer Grond.
The king of the Valar, Manwe. Winds and storms listen on his word and strong birds with wide wings are dear to him.
This is the Valar Namo also called Mandos, after the halls he lives in. He is the judge of the world and keeper of souls from the dead.
Yavanna is the queen of all things that grow. Her image is mostly that of a tall woman but sometimes she takes on the form of a tall tree.
Last one of my valar series. Check out the others! This is Varda, queen of stars and light. For the elves she is the most important of the Valar.
