Mallory Jean Stinson was born on a crisp February morning. The first child of loving, though eclectic parents. The love however, was not to be underestimated because everything the Stinson’s did after Mallory was born was to create the best possible family situation for all of them. It was a good thing too, because being the daughter of the town plumber and it’s most eccentric artist wasn’t exactly easy. Her mother was diagnosed with Bipolar II before she was born and chose to never be medicated. Her father was the only medicine the woman ever wanted. These ups and downs led Mallory to fall in love with books. They were her safe place.
Elementary school was a breeze, kids just making friends with not so much as a second thought. And she loved every bit of life that it had to offer. Middle school however was a different story. Freckle faced, four eyes Mallory Stinson didn’t quite fit in. Everyone seemed to be given a handbook on exactly how to grow up and fit in, but it was apparently the only book that Mallory hadn’t checked out of the library. Her hair was rarely combed and she didn’t shower if she didn’t feel like it, her parents not caring one bit. She liked to play in the mud, and go on long winded rants about facts she’d read in books, and eat the most exotic foods she could find. Mallory would raise her hand in class and spend five minutes talking, leading to whispers of ‘know-it-all’ and snickers throughout the room. This only got worse in high school when Mallory continued down her path of being the odd duck. But Mallory never let it get her down. Every night she returned home to the loving arms of her parents and younger sister. It was enough to remind her that soon enough, she’d leave the hell scape of high school, and they’d grow up, their brains actually large enough to realize their mistakes. Her head stayed up high despite all of the teasing.
But all of that changed when she met Hunter. For once, she’d found someone who was willing to listen to her go on crazy rants about all the cool facts she’d read in her books, for once she’d found someone who actually enjoyed all of her quirks. It was incredible. She knew that he was the one and that they would be together forever. But that all came shattering down one night when Mallory found out that he had cheated on her. Things had been getting a little rockier in their relationship, knowing that he was going to pursue a career in music, meant that she would have to leave her family behind. And it wasn’t something that Mallory saw herself doing. But she also would never want to hold Hunter back from all of his dreams. Dreams were precious things to the young woman. It seemed to her that the cheating had been the straw that broke the camels back for them, and decided that the best thing for them was to give him space, to figure out what he truly wanted. In Mallory’s mind, she still believes that they are meant to be together, and that giving him this time will help him realize that. But sometimes, she isn’t as sure as she thinks she is, wondering if maybe it truly has run it’s course. When she sees the way he and Fawn VanCamp parade around together, is when she finds herself losing faith the most. But Mallory being Mallory keeps that smile on her face despite it.
These days Mallory is helping her father take care of their little family. She helps her dad by taking as many plumbing jobs as she can, knowing that he wishes he could retire but that it also isn’t in the cards. She also has learned some of her dads best remedies with her mother to keep her episodes safe for the family. She also helps take care of her younger sister, the light of her life. Her sister has cerebral palsy so getting around isn’t always easy. Seeing her sister’s smile is sure to always cheer Mallory up on the off chance that she’s feeling sad. She loves her family with her whole heart, which she has come to realize is a rare but wonderful gift she’s gotten in life.
Since leaving high school, Mallory has suddenly noticed that she’s gotten a lot more attention based on her looks. It is very strange for her and she can be quite awkward sometimes when someone is flirting with her, often not noticing or turning red. She is trying to teach herself how to date right now but it’s not going that well since she doesn’t tend to get many messages back on dating apps when she talks about the science of kissing. But she’s learning.
