Medwed is a skinchanger from the Vales of Anduin, the daughter of Grimbeorn and granddaughter of Beorn. As a child, she dreamed of exploring the world beyond the Carrock, but her father dissuaded her from adventuring in fear of the danger beyond. She grew up in peace and ignorance. However, in TA 3018, the Vale is attacked by Goblins and Wargs from the Misty Mountains and their long peace is disrupted. Medwed is chosen as an emissary to warn the Free Peoples of the coming darkness and becomes a great heroine by defeating the evil rising in Angmar with the help of new friends and allies; chief among them the Rangers. After the fall of the False King she passes through Moria with the Iron Garrison and aids the Elves of Lothlórien and Mirkwood in their struggle against Dol Guldur. Then, she joins the Grey Company in their journey south, fighting in Rohan to free it from Saruman’s corruption and in Gondor at the Pelennor and the Morannon. After the War of the Ring, Medwed lends a hand in restoring the land to its former beauty, cleanses Minas Morgul with the White Company, and scourges Mordor from Sauron’s influence. She lives happily in a cottage by the Anduin until the end of her days.
